Jivin J’s Life Links 1-29-10
UPDATE, 1:38p: Scott Roeder was found guilty on all counts this morning, including 1st degree murder. Sentencing is March 9.
by JivinJ
In his testimony, Roeder did not dispute any of the evidence brought against him by prosecutors. He admitted he bought a gun and ammunition, and took target practice in the days prior to Tiller’s shooting….
He said he had thought about killing Tiller for years, even considering buying a sword to cut off his hands or hiding out like a sniper to shoot him walking into his Wichita, KS abortion clinic.
Roeder also acknowledged having carried a gun into Tiller’s church on at least two occasions prior to May 31 and said he had considered killing other abortion doctors but that Tiller was his only “target.”
Officers with the Horry County Police Department were dispatched to a location on 17th Avenue North in Surfside Beach around 3 a.m. on Dec. 7 after pictures of the deceased fetus were discovered on the teen’s phone. Other pictures shown to authorities upon arrival included what appeared to be a burial for the fetus.
Police say the mother of the 16-year-old girl went to an address on Woodwinds Drive in Conway, where she dug up the skeletal remains of the fetus herself.
Another story notes the child was less than 20 weeks old.

They should have found him guilty of voluntary manslaughter. The judge gave them wrong advice.
Although one can use force as an absolute last resort to save the life of any human being threatened with death, this was clearly not a situation that met the stringent requirements for such an action. Someone in church is clearly not an immediate threat to anyone.
However, he did kill, not an innocent person, but a dangerous criminal abortionist who had killed 60,000 children and would continue to kill for years more. The state and federal governments had done and would do nothing to stop this man from killing more children. Roeder did what he did, not for personal gain, but in an attempt to save the lives of unborn children.
Therefore, although his action was not morally justified, there were serious mitigating circumstances and he should have been given a lesser charge and should be sentenced to much less than life in prison.
Scott Roder, was not pro life, pro life don’t murder abortionists! Obama, stop aquating all pro lifers as terrorests! RJ
I hear what you are saying Joe, but they would never allow those circumstances to be considered “mitigating”, because that would be admitting that abortion is wrong.
Mansloter? Are you joking? This wacko guned down a man at church! RJ
I don’t get it.
A fetus under twenty weeks who dies in a natural miscarriage is considered human remains that are desecrated by intact burial, BUT a fetus of the same gestation is “medical waste” that can be purposefully killed, sucked out of the womb in pieces, harvested for organ tissue, and in many cases, thrown in a dumpster or ground up and flushed down a sink’s garbage disposal…and THAT’S not a crime?
“Scott Roeder was found guilty on all counts this morning, including 1st degree murder.”
that’s too bad, I’m sorry to hear that.
I don’t know how you ‘legally’ justify executing an abortionist while he is serving as an usher at his local church building.
You would have to prove that you knew that Tiller knew there was a pregnant woman present and that you knew that Tiller possessed the intent to harm or murder the pregnant woman’s pre-natal child.
Roeder might have more succes making his case to GOD.
A jury, not so much.
I give Roeder credit for ending Tiller’s killing streak at less than 70,000 victims.
The case for ‘legal’ justification would be hard to make given our present realities.
The math is easy to get.
Tiller has a lot for which to answer.
Scott Roeder has only two lives to answer for: His own and George Tillers.

Michelle, my thoughts EXACTLY.
Well, the guy was right about one thing: Tiller stopped killing babies.
Carhart, is carrying the Tiller Banner! How touching!
Michelle and Bethany: just another example of how inconsistent our thinking is regarding unborn babies.
I think Roeder got what he deserved.
His actions are inconsistent with what it means to be prolife.
I don’t think he would have much of a case before God.
I know the current situation re: abortion is an unjust one but you cannot go out and take the law into your own hands, even if the proaborts have done this.
It is anarchy.
The moral culpability for all those babies Tiller killed also lies on the souls of the Roe justices who are indirectly responsible for ALL of the abortions committed in America and quite possibly for many committed outside America too.
I don’t envy them AT. ALL.
I think Roeder had prepared himself to go to prison. He didn’t expect a lighter sentence or really even try for one. I’m conflicted on this one. He hurt the pro life cause immensely, but he did stop Tiller. I can’t support him or condemn him.
I guess we now know that a civilian court can convict a terrorist. I am disappointed that it took them 37 minutes to return a verdict – there really wasn’t any reason to leave the room to discuss this.
Any arguments that Roeder and his lawyer are going to use to try to get him off on a lighter sentence are a crock, and I hope the court won’t be stupid enough to go along with them.
Let’s face it;Roeder is a cold-blooded killer who murdered an innocent man who not only did absolutely nothing wrong but who saved the lives
and health of many women. Let this worthless piece of trash rot in jail for the rest of his miserable life.
Robert Berger’s comment is complete idiocy (just like the drivel he put on the American Life League website – see “Judie’s Blog”).
George Tiller was NOT an innocent man. He was a dangerous criminal abortionist who had killed SIXTY THOUSAND (60,000) human beings!
He did NOT save the lives or health of ANY women.
THIRTY THOUSAND (30,000) women would be alive today from infancy up to age 35 if the real cold-blooded killer, George Tiller, had not destroyed their lives.
You abortionists must stop living your lives in the swamps of contradiction and paradox and realize that since you believe in killing ALL human beings in the first nine months of our lives and depriving each one of us of our entire human lifespans, you CANNOT object to ANY killing of ANY human being ANYWHERE ANYTIME.
In other words, you cannot support killing George Tiller in the unborn stage (taking away his whole life) and then condemn someone who only takes away from him the last few years of his life.
I feel very sorry for the teenager in the SC case. It seems pretty obvious that she just didn’t know what to do when she miscarried and was afraid to tell anyone. Honestly, even for a grown women such a situation is confusing and difficult. Second trimester miscarriages fall into a gray area as far as burial and death certificates. They really should clarify the law regarding how to bury miscarried children.
How can that baby’s remains be human unless the baby was? I thought the justification for abortion when a mother’s life is not in danger rested on the fetus not being a human being? The only way this child might be considered human (legally) is if he or she lived for a few moments–unlikely at less than twenty weeks, and would likely depend on the mother’s testifying against herself to prove such a thing. Not that killing a moving breathing child isn’t okay when done by a professional, of course.
I think I read at some point of a pro-life advocate who was going to be charged with some trumped-up charge like transporting human remains across state lines because he possessed a fetus preserved in formaldehyde–but they dropped the charge when they figured out they would have to argue in court that the child’s body constituted human remains….

what a berger
Let us parse your polemics one more time.
“Let’s face it; Roeder is a cold-blooded killer…”
I do not believe anybody would argue that Roeder as a ‘killer’.
I am just as sure there no consensus on the ‘cold blooded’ part.
…”who murdered an innocent man”…
A jury did find him guilty of murder so it would be difficult to argue against that assessment.
It would be equally difficult to argue that Tiller was an ‘innocent’ man.
A convincing case could be made that the same criteria used to determine Roeder is a ‘cold blooded’ killer could be applied to Tiller about 60,000 times more.
…”who not only did absolutely nothing wrong”…
What Tiller did may have been ‘legal’ but it was wrong at many different levels.
…”but who saved the lives and health of many women.”
I suppose it is remotely possible that one of the pregnant females who contracted with Tiller to kill her child may have been critically ill and the only way to save her was to terminate the pregancy, but if that were the case it would make no sense to travel hundreds or even thousands of miles if the woman feared death was iminent. She could have received emergency medical treatment in her own community that was intended to save the life of both the pregnant woman and her prenatal child.
The record is clear by Tillers own testimony. These pregnant women came to him because they wanted him to kill their pre-natal child.
So here is the redacted and corrected version of mr. Bergers statement after it has been processed by the transmogrifier:
Scott Roeder murdered George Tiller, a cold blooded serial killer, who is guilty by his own testimony of killing more than 60,000 pre-natal children and injuring countless women.

ps: Robert, for a whataberger, you sure can tell some whoppers.
Tiller never spent a day in jail for the death of Christin Gilbert.

Justice?
Did Tiller force any women to have abortions?
No. He was performing a service for them. He’s not murderer. A murderer is some on who kills a BORN person or persons for his or her own malicious reasons.
berger king of the whoppers,
Keep listening for the ‘pop’.
The pregnant woman consents, though not always fully informed, but her prenatal child, though never consulted and never consenting, is fully informed of the violent act of abortion.
When your mother was pregnant with you what species of embyo/fetus was present in her uterus?
Did Tiller force any female to have abortions?
I will venture a guess that he did force at least one pregnant female to submit to an abortion.
None of the pregnant women who contracted with Tiller to kill their prenatal children desired or sought their female pre-natal childs consent so I conclude that Tiller forced more than 30,000 prenatal female HUMAN fetuses to submit to his violent acts against them.
Do you still believe in the tooth fairey?
Are there leprechauns leaping about in the un-reality you have created for yourself and talking unicorns and flying pigs?

Robert, according to your definition a hit man isn’t a murderer. Tiller was a hit man.
A murderer is some on who kills a BORN person or persons for his or her own malicious reasons.

nut berger,
Allow me to remove the lipstick from your kosher bovine scatulation and put your bigoted view into some sort of cultural perspective for you.
“A murderer is someone who kills a ‘real’ person or persons for his or her own bigoted reasons, not a Jew or Gypsie or Non-Aryan.

Tiller won’t likely be the last wacko pro=abort to get snuffed. The late term wackos and the freaks who think they have the right to commit abortion on minors w/o parental consent would do well to take notice.
In reference to the SC teen… this was a stillborn fetus, less than 20 weeks in which the girl miscarried, it died in her womb. She didn’t kill her baby, she didn’t throw it in the trash or try to flush it down a toilet. She didn’t dig a hole and just bury it. She didn’t just forget. She took pictures and carried them with her. To some that may be twisted but it shows she loved the child she lost. She buried her stillborn child in the most respectful and compassionate manner, in a loving makeshift casket. Nobody, other than family, attorneys and law officials has known the real facts or circumstances, so without more facts, the judgment of the public and media should have been limited instead of so cruel and vicious! You should ALL keep this family in your prayers, let them grieve and let them reunite as a family! This is a loving, respectable and compassionate family! To those cruel and hurtful people who do NOT know this family… be careful throwing your rocks while you sit in your glass houses… that glass will shatter in your face one day! And for the record… this young girl was charged with “Failure to Report” and there was never an argument between the girl and her mother as Sgt. Kegler incorrectly stated to the media. The media should not report facts unless they are aware of truth, same goes for the public who speak viciously with no knowledge what-so-ever of the details! How is it LEGAL for a woman to go to a doctor for an abortion and that doctor intentionally kill the baby that is healthy and living inside the womb… they inject a solution to tear the fetus apart and kill it, suction it out, put it in a strainer (as the doctor in Charleston, SC… who was found not guilty) then put the remains in a kitchen disposal and grind the remains up or throw it in a trash can! And you find this SC teen cruel?? She made this baby a casket and placed flowers in it! How much more compassionate could you be for this young girl! God bless that entire family!!!
If I sounded like I had no compassion or respect for the girl in question, that was certainly not my intent. I was simply questioning how she could be charged with anything involving human remains when, legally, the child in question was not human.
I had to flush one of my children. It was winter. I would have buried her if I could. I didn’t have a lot of options. I didn’t want to freeze her for months. I couldn’t even be completely sure what I had was her body–she was only three weeks old. I wish I could have buried her.
Absolutely I have compassion for this girl.
