“KS’ current law concerning abortion was passed more than a decade ago and strikes a reasonable balance on a very difficult issue,” Parkinson said in his veto message. “I support the current law and believe that an annual legislative battle over the issue is not in the public’s best interest.”
He also said: “My view is that all abortions are tragedies, which is why I would encourage women who have unwanted pregnancies to consult with their partners, families, doctors and spiritual advisers. I would not encourage women to consult with state legislators, as this is a private decision and should not be dictated by public officials.”
How nonsensical is that? He supports the current abortion law (which was passed by state legislators and effects abortion decisions) but he doesn’t think state legislators should have a say in abortion decisions. He also guarantees another legislative battle on abortion (which supposedly isn’t in the public’s best interest) with this veto.
After all, it’s illogical for a pro-abortionist to argue against sex selection when abortion is touted as a woman’s choice in which society (and the state) have no say. Yet that leaves many feminists twisting in the wind of their own rhetoric – how can feminists support the practice of killing girl babies on the basis of their sex – and, how can they deny women a right to a sex selective abortion, yet still claim that abortion is about a woman’s right to choose, not what’s best for society?

What I find interesting is that as contraception and abortion rise so do broken families. Kids born to single mothers are living in broken families. Fagan explains that a decline in absolute numbers does not mitigate the growing percentage of kids born into broken homes.
article excerpt:
Facing the Bad News
By Patrick Fagan
“The crazy news on births this year is that rising out-of-wedlock births are not news! In the upside-down-world of modern journalism two disturbing bits of data were interpreted in the press as good news: Rejoice! Out-of-wedlock birth rates are dropping and teen birth rates are dropping! Sounds good? Read further.
“The first piece of bad news (the piece that was turned into good news): our total fertility rate has dropped below the replacement rate (2.1). It is now 2.086. The other (and really bad) news is that the percentage of children born out of wedlock birth has continued to rise. This year, for the first time, it broke through the 40 percent level. . .rising for all groups and all ages. (See tables 1 and 7)”
My view is that all rapes are tragedies, which is why I would encourage men who have violent sexual desires to consult with their partners, families, doctors and spiritual advisers. I would not encourage men to consult with state legislators, as this is a private decision and should not be dictated by public officials.
This guy is a moron and a copout.

This guy is a moron and a copout. You can legislate abortion. When someone is about to be killed, the government SHOULD protect the intended victim. “Personal decision” is a bunch of hooey!
The Gov. Parkinson story reminds me of the famous quote by Alfred E. Neuman of Mad Magazine fame.
“What, me worry?”
Politicians are supposed to protect the people, not look the other way.
“My view is that all abortions are tragedies, which is why I would encourage women who have unwanted pregnancies to consult with their partners, families, doctors and spiritual advisers. I would not encourage women to consult with state legislators, as this is a private decision and should not be dictated by public officials.”…….KS Gov. Mark Parkinson.
I guess this means I don’t have to pay taxes because my spiritual adviser said so?
I’m trying to find someone who will tell me I can do away with my mother-in-law, however, no one will commit to that in writing, except some guy named Kevorkian. His fee is $10,000.00.
Also, that Bank of America on the corner, with all that cash in it…..my accountant said I need some and I’m thinking of making a very, very, very large withdrawal.
Now, any sane person would consider these to be illogical conclusions, however, this is the very same logic use by a freaking Governor. How in the world do these people get elected? They are absolute monsters.
Totally illogical – and yet the press and media just write it as is. And mostly, it will go unnoticed.
Utterly morally bankrupt.
And he will get away with it.
The masses are too busy, too tired, too weak to notice. What happened to standards and excellence? What happened to backbone? Logic anyone?
If we were adding to the Screwtape Letters, those demons would have lots to laugh and gloat about.
We need to be as cunning as serpents and as gentle as doves. At least some remnant needs to keep watch and point out the obvious…
Oh, I LOVE the Screwtape Letters! I got a copy when I was traveling through England with my mother when I was 14. Read the book straight through… I agree. They would be VERY smug about the current situation.
