New video: Planned Parenthood lies about fetal development, abortion risks
Interesting that the other side persistently fights state laws forcing them to give correct information about fetal development and the risks of abortion.
It’s no wonder.
Today LiveAction.org released the 3rd video in its Rosa Acuna Project series, which “document[s] Planned Parenthood’s use of unscientific and fabricated medical information to convince women to have abortions.”
In this video, taped September 11, 2009, at the now-closed Indianapolis Planned Parenthood located at 8847 Commerce Park Place, the “counselor” farcically states a baby’s heart doesn’t begin beating until “the 8th or 9th week,” when it actually does on Day 22 or 23 – i.e., at 3 weeks for all those PP counselors who can’t count….
The counselor, whose name is Sarah btw, also falsely states there are no long-term adverse consequences to abortion.
Rather, and just for starters, the Shanghai Institute of Planned Parenthood reported in 2003 a 55% increased risk of future miscarriages for women who have abortions, noted LiveAction.org in its press release. Here’s that study. (1:55 = 55% increase.)
Sarah also tries every way she can to avoid the word b-word. “It’s not a baby, it’s a fetus, not like a person,” she says.
I spoke with David at LiveAction.org this morning, and he said there’s more footage coming within the next couple days with additional disinformation. This was the 1st – and last – time LA videotaped at this particular PP. Wonder if Sarah was transferred elsewhere? Be on the lookout for those professional pink sweatpants and grey hoodie.

You’re probably right about if it were any other place, although maybe other places they’d be fine with letting them say that stuff…
Some of them [PP] have been investigated for somethings, but I have my doubts any of them have been investigated for saying the pre-born baby isn’t a baby.
The current administration has had some connections to PP so I have my doubts he has any interest in seeing them closed down.
So there you go…

The PP counselor states that you can HEAR the fetal heartbeat around the 8th or 9th week, which I believe is accurate?

It IS a baby Ashley. A baby is offspring. According to your logic when my son was born I shouldn’t have said “My baby!” I should have held him and exclaimed “My neonate!”
If you look at the PERCENTAGE of complications with abortion versus birth you will see though more women might be injured while giving birth each year, more women are giving birth than aborting 5 to 1. But with “only” 1 million women aborting each year the percentage of them that have complications is higher than birth.
Not only that, but they don’t take into consideration future complications. For example, my one friend aborted. Years later when she got pregnant her placenta began to tear away from the uterine wall. She almost lost her daughter. Cause? Scarring on the uterus from her abortion that happened YEARS before.
My other friend had two abortions. She then went on to have fertility issues. While she did eventually have one son she has been unable to conceive for over 5 years. The doctors truthfully admit it could be because of her abortions. She doesn’t have money for fertility testing so she doesn’t know the exact reason for her infertility (scar tissue etc…)
There are other women who have abortions and later get cancer which is directly linked to abortion. I am reading a biography on ballerina Dame Margot Fonteyn. She had two abortions to preserve her dance career and never did birth a child. She got cancer in her 60’s and died of it. It was said that her terminations had directly contributed to her cancer. And that was her cancer doctor saying that, not some pro-lifer. So abortion definitely has higher risks than childbirth.
Ashley, it’s a true answer with an intent to deceive. That makes it a lie.
Here’s a scenario to demonstrate: Sarah stabs Harry to death. Later on, John asks her, “Have you seen Harry lately? Is he okay?” and she answers, “I just saw him.” Sarah is making a statement that is true, but she is lying. She’s lying because she is misleading with impression that Harry is okay. She’s telling the truth in that she did just see him, but she conveniently omits the fact that she saw him as she was killing him and that he most certainly is not okay. She’s committing a lie of omission, just like the abortion agent.
Hmmm…my biology textbook never said child Ashley. Child is not a scientific term. Embryo and fetus are scientific terms referring to offspring. Those of us not prone to using scientific terms say “baby”.
When I stand up quickly and get dizzy I say I feel light-headed. I don’t say “Oh I feel I have orthostatic hypotension!” The only one who ever said that was my mom who is an R.N. and we used to chuckle over it because thats not how people talk.
That one clinic may be closed but “those people” (Planned Parenthood) are far from out of business.
One thing to keep in mind, Ashley, is that this woman is (supposedly) about to make a life-or-death choice for her “fetus” and is deciding whether to undergo a surgical procedure for herself. Being that she is making a very important decision, is it right, just, and ethical that the ‘counselor’ was manipulating her into choosing abortion over not?
Shouldn’t the counselor be there to help educate the woman so she makes the most informed choice, not to make sure that she makes the “right” choice (from the perspective of those seeking to profit)?
While the ‘counselor’ may not have been lying besides those bits at the end about future children and the “fake” pictures, she is without a doubt misleading and deceiving. She is not allowing the woman to make a choice for herself, but is instead basically coercing her into making the decision to abort by skewing the language and guarding her words (avoiding “baby”) and the way she answered the questions to make the abortion more likely. Is that an ethical way to run a medical practice?
Ok, one thing BOTH sides got blatantly wrong, heartbeat.
The embryo/fetus/unborn child’s heart starts beating at around 5 weeks gestation. That is approximately 3 weeks from conception.
When talking about age of fetus/unborn baby we count from LMP(last menstrual period), which approximately adds about 2 weeks FROM conception.
I thought it was rather confusing when LiveAction put that the heart starts beating at 23 days when the PP counselor was stating a gestational age based on LMP. I think if you are going to talk pregnancy PLEASE use the correct terminology and refer to said fetus/unborn baby by LMP weeks.
Otherwise I thought the PP counselor seemed clueless as to fetal development. I think it would be far better to tell a woman the whole truth before she makes a decision like abortion rather than try to sugarcoat her into a decision she is already uncomfortable with.
Sydney, thanks for posting the info I was going to post… you said it perfectly, so I will merely summarize to reinforce…
1) Number of incidences vs. percentage of incidences… Percentage is higher with abortion, number higher with childbirth only because there are so many more births than abortions.
2) Lack of appropriate accounting… in addition to what Sydney stated, deaths and injuries due to abortion are often lumped in with the childbirth statistics, esp. late term abortions, giving a TOTALLY false and skewed picture.

A big factor to consider in whether abortion will cause harm to future childbearing is how late abortion was done and also how many abortions were done. With increased number of abortions the risk of infertility increases.
I remember asking before my abortion at 10 weeks, in a voice so quiet I can’t believe she heard it; “how big is it?”. The answer was given with a wave of the hand; “it’s just a blob of cells…do you have the money?” Timid and intimidated, I got the message and kept my mouth shut until it was over…all over but the crying, that is.
Twenty years later, I remember thinking “maybe the laws have changed now and it was just because it was so long ago that they were able to get away with lying to me like that” so I called a Planned Parenthood in NYC and asked to speak to a nurse. I told her that I was 9 weeks along and needed to come for an abortion, but I wanted to know how big my baby was, and she said “you’ll have to look that up.” I said “how?” and she said “the internet” and I said “I don’t have internet” and she said “well then go to the library”.
So now you can’t even ask a direct question of a medical professional. Next we’ll be required to do our own research in advance of heart surgery because we ask questions and the heart surgeon says “I’m sorry, I can’t answer your question… you’ll have to Google that.”

Very true… and since they include those stats when they report mortality and morbidity of the mother it falsely skews upward the “risk” of childbirth.

Your story is so similar to mine! I was 10 weeks along, told it was “just a bunch of cells” and asked, “Will that be Visa or Master Card today?” My abortion was almost 20 years ago.

Oh great another HEAVLY edited “gottcha” video from Lila… So this footage is from over a year ago, rehashed and edited to try to make the same point. The problem is it’s just as phony as all the videos she has made before and the ones made by James O’Keefe, who is the guy who taught Lila how to do this stuff.
If you watch the counter at the top of the screen you can see that when they cut away to show a graphic the tape jumps 4 or 5 minutes. When the clinician says something that’s right on dead accurate they muffle it and write “inaudible” on it.
If you want to know what kind of made up crap this is just look at what James did. He made a fake video about ACORN and got them shut down, only after they were closed did we learn that he never went into the ACORN office in costume but rather dressed as a college kid claiming to be a pimp. They did not believe he was a pimp so they shined him on, and he cut most of that out as well. He edited an entire day of shooting down to a very edited and bias 10 minute video? Lila’s videos started to stir up some stuff the first couple she put out but once logical thinking people put her videos under scrutiny their creditability fell apart. That’s why you don’t ever see them on the news “FOX doesn’t count, I mean real news that is not pre-written by an old Australian guy” because anyone who has any TV production experience can see the obvious editing. That’s why Lila won’t do interviews with anyone except FOX because her videos would be shown to be fraudulent on any other news show.
Lila Rose is just James O’Keefe Jr. They are both lying crooks “James having broken into a government office with intent of illegally wire tapping a government official for who knows what purpose”. They’re making money and fame for themselves while you people call them hero’s…
Oh yes and those picture you guys hold up are not faked… they are staged.
Those pictures were bought by an anti-choice group from an abortion doctor at a high price. The doctor staged the pictures which is why there is a 25 cent piece in them. These aborted fetuses were mutilated and set up for political pictures that were PAID for by “pro-lifers”. I know that quarters are not a medical instrument so you can plainly see that they were staged on purpose and under agenda. All that money paid just to traumatize all the little children walking by your protest… but your protecting children huh?
Biggz, when was the last time you took a set of candid photographs of medical waste?
Making a series of detailed photographs of this kind of subject matter requires setting up of some kind, so that the result is useful images and not a bunch of blurry snapshots. Go look at medical pictures of excised tumors and amputated limbs – abortion pictures are no more staged than those. Perhaps you’ll even find everyday objects in those pictures as size references, too!
The quarter is in the picture to show the relative size of the body, so that the viewer knows that the picture, which shows a body looking quite like a baby and not at all like a blob of cells, is not of a full-term stillbirth, as some pro-aborts would have you believe. The size reference makes it clear that this abortion took place much earlier than term, and resulted in the death of this mutilated and obviously human entity.
