Pro-lifer asks pro-abort NYC Council members: “Excuse me, who is targeting whom?”
Gerard Nadal of the Coming Home blog told me about an amazing exchange he had with pro-abort New York City Council members during a hearing they held November 16 on a bill to force pregnancy care centers to post signage that they do not commit abortions.
Jerry said he set aside his written testimony after listening to ludicrous pro-abort accusations.
I asked Gerard to write a post on what he said. Here is Part I…
Guest post by Dr. Gerard Nadal
Two weeks ago I joined many other pro-life leaders in testifying before the New York City Council on why their proposed legislation to restrict free speech at crisis pregnancy centers (aka pregnancy resource centers) is a very dangerous idea.
The proposed legislation would force CPCs to post signs at their front doors and in their waiting rooms stating that the center does not commit abortions or provide FDA-approved contraceptives. It is, in effect, designed to drive women away and into the arms of the abortionists.
Councilwoman Jessica Lappin (pictured left), the sponsor of the bill, claimed the bill is meant to promote “truth in advertising.” She also expressed the hope that the NYC bill would go statewide under our new attorney general.
Pro-aborts from NARAL, Planned Parenthood, and the rest of the abortion industry accused us of “targeting minorities,” “preying upon women,” and “endangering women’s right to choose.” They expressed outrage that we open our clinics in the same buildings as they operate in.
So with that in mind, I asked the Council who was targeting whom, who was preying upon whom, as I shared the following numbers from the Summary of Vital Statistics, The City of New York, Table 29a:
Between 1999-2008 there were 922,272 abortions in New York City. Of these:
50,382 (5.5%) were Asian
101, 856 (11%) were White
296,330 (32.1%) were Hispanic
430,515 (46.7%) were Black
79% of all abortions in New York City in that 10-yr period – 726,845 babies – were Black and Hispanic.
Again, I asked, who is targeting whom?
I continued, telling them that according to New York State’s Vital Statistics (2008):
Whites have 512 induced abortions per 1,000 live births.
Hispanics have 686.9 abortions per 1,000 live births.
Blacks have 1,259.7 abortions per 1,000 live births.
I added:
- The number of aborted blacks, according to the Centers for Disease Control, outnumbers the next leading 7 causes of death among blacks combined.
- According to Dr. La Verne Tolbert, former NYC Planned Parenthood board member, Planned Parenthood targets black babies, and there have been 20 million aborted Black babies in the U.S. since 1973.
Again, I asked, who is targeting whom?
I then left the Council members with these words:
This is indeed slow motion genocide. It represents an abortion industry feeding on the poverty and fear of our neediest daughters.
The legislation before this body would muzzle the very resource centers who offer the hope and assistance that the abortion industry fails to furnish. This legislation is designed to preempt our offer of hope, to confirm the hopelessness of women who often lack any resource for hope in their lives; and it will railroad even greater numbers of minorities to their deaths.
I gave each member a copy of Maafa 21.
In Part II, I school the Council on “choice.”
God Bless you, Gerard! Soldier on, brother!
Well said Dr. Nadal!!!! I wish I could have seen it!
Awesome Dr. Nadal!! Thank you!!
Truth in advertising? LOL
GO JERRY GO!!!
Make them rue the day they initiated this attack against CPC’s.
How was the information received? What is the status of the ordinance? What is/are the next step(s)?
Great work!
You go Gerard! This was awesome! Beautiful! Spirit-inspired!
I would love to know how the council responded, what the media coverage was and the crowd reaction. And I am hoping that there were other pro-lifers there in the general crowd…
And the La Verne Tolbert piece is a must-read, as is the Maafa 21 is a must-see.
Great work. totally beautiful on all counts…
Oh – and Thank You!! ;)
Well said indeed! Right on!
So I have a question… If the CPC’s end up having to put up signs saying that they don’t offer abortions or “contraceptives”, do the abortion mills have to put up signs that read something like, “Abandon all hope, ye who enter here”? And since when do businesses or organizations have to list what they don’t provide anyways? What sense does that even make?
CPC’s “targeting” minorities? That’s a new one!
I appreciate your efforts, Dr. Nadal, but it’s sad that a white man has to present statistics on the large number of black and Hispanic babies aborted each year. Where were the so-called black and Latino leaders? Sadly, they are probably in support of this bill.
Gerard,
Cool! Can’t wait for Part two!
~ ~
Wow, the bulls-eye graphic with the adorable toddler is striking and says it all. It’s very effective and I hope the Council members see it and understand.
Well, CPC’s do target Minorities–with hope not condemnation or genocide. I can’t wait to read the second part to this. Thank you so much for being there!
For lack of a better word, you kicked some ass.
“Blacks have 1,259.7 abortions per 1,000 live births.”
WHAT A HORRIFIC TRAGEDY!!! WHAT AN INDICTMENT AGAINST THE WICKEDNESS OF OUR GENERATION!!!
Jesus addressed the sinners in His day and said, “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.” Jn 8.44-47
Ooops! So much for the sentiment that “we’re all God’s children on our way to Heaven…”
“We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. 1Jn 5.19-20
This life is a test. The sooner you realize you are a sinner in need of God’s Mercy and Grace, the better off you’ll be. We are all going to be evaluated for how we spent our lives. God is going to want to know, “Did you recognize your need for Me? Did you appreciate the sacrifice My Son paid for your sins on the Cross?
“Did you learn to love?”
Repent of your sins before it’s too late. Jesus came and died to rescue and deliver you from your sin and this evil generation. The Father wants to welcome you into His Kingdom and His Family, just like the Prodigal Son, Lu 15.11-31
Ask Jesus into your heart and make Him the Lord of your life today.
You won’t regret it and you’ll never be the same.
Outstanding story. As Julie P identifies, an organization has to point out what it does NOT provide? Must a hardware store point out that it does not sell computer hardware? Must a restaurant point out that it does not sell groceries? Laughable if it wasn’t such a sad proposal.
I needed a new bell for my bicycle so I went into Taco Bell and well…shouldn’t they post a sign on the window?
Thanks Dr. Nadal for speaking up for those who have no voice. God bless you.
I am having issues understanding how Planned Parenthood is racist. Yes, they kill a large number of minority babies, but that is because a large number of minority women walk into PP with credits cards. Abortion clinics tend to open where there will be business…so poor areas with weak families. Many African-Americans are poor with weak families in their communities, so it just makes sense PP is killing so many black babies. In other words, they care about money not race. They have never turned a white woman down who wanted an abortion.
I know there have been undercover operations exposing some PP employees as racist, but there must be racist employees in every organization.
Am I missing an arguement or something? Otherwise I do not think there is evidence that PP is racist.
Adair, the founder of PP Margaret Sanger was a racist. nuff said. There are rich white women having abortions too but you don’t see PP opening in rich white neighborhoods. PP today is just fulfilling the dream of the founder which is extermination of the undesirables (minorities and poor whites)
Thank you, Dr. Nadal!!!
Sydney is correct. Margaret Sanger deliberately courted black ministers to sell them on the idea of abortion, at the same time she was meeting with the Ku Klux Klan to tell them how wonderful it would be to abort poor and poor, colored children. These are facts written in her own words, with photos to match.
There may be other racist organizations. There may be racists inside other organizations. However, no one kills more black babies than Planned Parenthood. When faced with the grim statistics, I am still amazed that anyone would deny it.
I knew you would be awesome Gerard!
In a Thanksgiving message from Jessica Lappin :(I am on her email)
“My bill to bring truth in advertising to anti-choice, limited service pregnancy centers is continuing to move through the legislative process. We heard nearly six hours of testimony both for and against the bill during a …hearing in the Women’s Issues Committee on November 16. …”
…like she even listened…Glad she listened to you Gerard because they were all talking when Chris Bell, Joel Brind and I testified..so totally rude and unprofessional..all she cares about is pushing this through, and those who got her in , like PP & NARAL. It is payback time & the truth is the furthest thing from their minds.
I like how Jessica Lappin has a picture on her website of her and a bunch of kids in a classroom. I don’t see how more abortion supporters cannot comprehend how pro-lifers are always wincing at such images. Just a few short years beforehand, Jessica would’ve had no qualms with any one of those childrens’ mothers having them put to death in a “safe, legal” abortion.
Did anyone ask the councilors to name one other business or entity that is required to post large uninviting signs detailing what services they do not provide?
THANK YOU TOO Theresa for testifying!! :)
Jerry – it sounds like their constituents need to hear the statistics and these council member responses. Was anyone able to record their responses?
Theresa – anyone able to catch them on video during your testimony?
Thank you both for your testimony.
Both Lapin and Quinn are on the take, and receive campaign contributions from non profits they fund-both are also trained PP volunteers (aka deathscorts)

Thank you Dr. Nadal and Theresa for testifying!
I just had to balk that she uses the phrase “limited service”. LIMITED? I worked at a CPC. What DIDN’T we do for the moms? We told them WHATEVER they needed to give birth and not have an abortion we would provide it and we DID! We got them baby furniture, clothes, diapers, formula as well as set up medical care, got them jobs, found them apartments…
As far as I know (from what I’ve heard from patients) Planned Parenthood offers no support to attain parenthood but only provides limited services, such as sucking out babies from their mommy’s wombs.
Absolutely great work on the part of Dr. Nadal! What a wonderful advocate for unborn persons!
Very logical, well thought out.
And yes, who is looking at how accurate PP is at advertising.
Thank-you Dr. Nadal and Theresa…
“…like she even listened…Glad she listened to you Gerard because they were all talking when Chris Bell, Joel Brind and I testified..”
wow theresa…..typical smug, obnoxious liberals.
That’s exactly what we did at the CPC I volunteered at also, Sydney. “Limited services”??? By WHOSE standards???
“I gave each member a copy of Maafa 21.”
I hope you told them there would be a test.
Yay, Dr. Nadal! Very well-said, as usual! :)
Thanks, all. Theresa, your testimony, and that of fellow panelists Joel Brind and Chris Bell was dynamite!! They were just as rude when my panel was testifying. However, about 20 seconds into my testimony they became aware that I wasn’t reading and looked up to find me staring them down. Naturally, they chose not to question me afterward, just as they chose not to question Joel on the ABC link.
Jill,
I’ll get part II to you today. I was at Molloy College yesterday debating a professor who is teaching his students that the pro-life movement is graying!! He says the only way that we can regain influence with the Millennials is to embrace the progressive agenda, including feminism, gay marriage and environmentalism. Needless to say, it was quite the fireworks display.
I showed the students the following video from this year’s March for Life, produced by some students from Baylor. They were blown away by the sight of so many of their peers, and as I sat on the stage looking at them watching the video, several had tears in their eyes. Kudos to Mr. Chhin and the Bears for life for a great video.

Thanks for your dedication to serve our Creator and all the innocent unborn babies, Dr. Gerald! I am most grateful for your commitment to stand firm on Biblical principles and to be a light in a dark increasingly so culture. Thank you and our prayers go with you.
phillymiss,
I agree. Also, a white man is a poor messenger for this message. I would have gladly surrendered my place to a black minister who promised to deliver the same testimony with the fiery indignation that can only come from one whose own people are in the crosshairs.
Adair,
I think you miss the point. PP operates 80% of its clinics in minority neighborhoods. Blacks and Hispanics only comprise 25% of the population, but receive 80% of PP’s attention, consistent with Margaret Sanger’s Negro Project. Their name is also very misleading. In their testimony before the Council, Councilman Halloran (God Bless him) forced PP to admit that they do not do much in the way of helping with parenthood. He got hem to admit that they do NOT provide pre-natal care, but simply refer women out for those services. Halloran forced them to admit that all they do in the way of pregnancy-related work is contraception and abortion.
In other words, they are simply nihilists who do not nurture nascent human life. Their preferential options and expertise are either death, or the prevention of being at all.
And they concentrate 80% of these talents on the minorities. Why not provide the FULL range of services as the CPC’s and PRC’s? Then their reality would comport with their name. No, I’m afraid that these murderous SOB’s have a genocidal headlock on the black community, and in recent polling by Kelly Ann Conway, blacks are entirely unaware of the extent of abortion in their own community.
Give babies their ‘choice’. Let them live!!!
Require PP to post signs that they don’t help with parenthood at all-only the lack of it.
