These sorts of stories should come as no surprise. When one makes a living from killing babies, one leaves the starting gate with ethics problems. But coincidentally, here we have two criminal convictions in one week.

First, from New York Daily News, June 22 (love the “ex-boss” Mafia inference):

The ex-boss of a leading abortion rights group pleaded guilty Wednesday to stealing $75,000 from the organization – using donor money to pay her high-flying lifestyle.

Kelli Conlin [pictured right], who left Naral Pro-Choice of New York after two decades in January, used the political cash to cover part of a $30,000 a Hamptons rental, a car service for her kids and to buy designer clothes, officials said….

Under the pre-indictment settlement… Conlin agreed to repay the money by July 22 rather than go to prison.

The rights activist faced a maximum of four years behind bars if the case had been tried and she was convicted.

Next in the line-up, from the Roanoke Times, June 23:

An executive for Planned Parenthood has been ordered to serve three weekends in jail on charges of stealing wine from a Roanoke County grocery store.

David Nova [mugshot right], vice president of Planned Parenthood Health Systems in Roanoke, was charged earlier this year with three counts of petit larceny. The charges stem from bottles of wine Nova took through a self-checkout line at the Cave Spring Kroger. The incidents occurred on two separate dates in January, according to online court records.

As part of an agreement reached in Roanoke County General District Court last week, Nova was not convicted. The case was continued for a year, with the understanding the charges will be dismissed after Nova completes his jail time and avoids further charges.

“This was an intensely personal matter for David that was not at all related to his work” for Planned Parenthood, said Nova’s attorney, John Lichtenstein.

It does not appear Planned Parenthood will fire Nova. The Roanoke Planned Parenthood was one of those busted in Live Action’s most recent sting, coincidentally.
