Obama still stuck on “war on women”
We don’t need another political fight about ending a woman’s right to choose, or getting rid of Planned Parenthood or taking away affordable birth control. We don’t need that.
I want women to control their own health choices, just like I want my daughters to have the same economic opportunities as my sons.
We’re not turning back the clock. We’re not going back there.
~ President Barack Obama at the Iowa State Fair on May 24, as quoted by CNS News

I want my daughters to have the same economic opportunities as my sons, too, but I want their opportunities both to start with the right to be born, not aborted.
We don’t need another political fight about ending a woman’s right to choose [to kill her unborn child], or getting rid of Planned Parenthood
Well, I’m glad to see him reaffirm what we already knew. Back in 2008, lots of people voted for a president that they thought had a real interest in finding common ground and settling difficult issues through honest, rational dialogue. It’s good to see him admit that this was all smoke and mirrors, and that anyone who dares disagree with the president is just engaging in “another political fight” that “we don’t need”.
or taking away affordable birth control.
Inorite? I’d hate to go alllllllll the way back to January 2012, when it cost $9 per month at Target!
We don’t need that.
I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt here and assume that he’s using “we” in the formal, royal context (that is, he sees himself as a king and really only means “I”) as opposed to speaking for all Americans (most of which want more restrictions on abortion).
I want women to control their own health choices, just like I want my daughters to have the same economic opportunities as my sons.
An interesting statement. May I ask who the mother of these sons is? Is there a significant event in Michelle’s future that we should know about? If so, calling them “my sons” in the middle of a pro-abortion speech is somewhat awkward. Or were they born out of wedlock with a different woman? Or maybe he’s speaking metaphorically.
Protip: Don’t word it like that when you’re the president of a nation full of conspiracy theorists. Also, abortion isn’t healthcare.
We’re not turning back the clock. We’re not going back there.
Lila Rose says it better than I can:
We don’t wish to take the country back in time; rather, we aspire to move it forward, beyond a time when women are treated as objects and pitted against their children and their religious institutions
Nice to have another opportunity to show bipartisanship in laughing at presidential gaffes. Move over Dan Quayle and George Bush.
But maybe it was intended. Maybe he sees his children the same way he had a composite girlfriend (Dreams From My Father). America’s sons and daughters will be invoked as his own. He is our pater familias!
Kiss the ring.
Obama, every day you find a new way to make my opinion of you even lower. Congratulations.
True that, JDC.
Glad he is at least TRANSPARENT about being proabortion!!
We’re not turning back the clock. We’re not going back there.
Hopefully, that goes for the next ELECTION as well!
Again, trying to connect the ability to make a lot of money with the ability to kill your child.
How incredibly stupid. How incredibly evil.
Oooo, we’re not going back “there”! And where’s that, Mr. President? What’s it called when a person makes an allusion to something scary, but because they’re at a podium they’re free from the pesky business of providing the details of what the heck they’re talking about?
After all, if we get rid of Planned Parenthood… OMG women will die on the floor, they will DIE!!! PLANNED PARENTHOOD IS THE BEST THING EVER FOR WOMEN! WOMEN NEED PLANNED PARENTHOOD TO SURVIVE!!! Meanwhile: http://protectourgirls.com/
Don’t know if I’d call this condescending or patronizing, either way, he makes me sick.
What sons is he talking about? Did he have children before marrying Michelle? Is this a reveal?
Obama, every day you find a new way to make my opinion of you even lower. Congratulations.
I agree, JDC,, but I can’t stand Romney either. He just comes across as an arrogant, entitled jerk.
I am excited about this woman, Mia Love. She is a black Republican in mostly white Utah who is running for representative, and there is a good chance she will win. I don’t agree with her on everything, but I’ve been waiting for a black pro-life female to be elected to high office, and I hope she wins!

Obama is officially saying that without “free” birth control and “free” abortions*, women are NOT equal to men. *paid for by all taxpayers, so not really free
Do I have that right?
So, Y chromosome plus X chromosome is more equal than X chromosome plus X chromosome and females need government intervention before they can be as equal?
Really?
Warning!! The robot is telling Will that does not compute.

I am not against contraception, but NYC has free, tax-funded payer contraceptives and they have the highest abortion rate in the country.
You’re right, something does not compute.
We’re not turning back the clock.
We’re not going back there.
I agree with Lila Rose — we aren’t going back. We are moving forward with getting the government out of our private lives and healthcare, and moving forward with protecting the basic human rights of all persons, born and unborn.
Right now, we are re-living a barbaric past in which innocent lives are still bought and sold for the convenience of others.
Sons?
So is Obama post-abortive?
Or is he using some sort of Sith Lord mind trick….
Oh I get it – if he doesn’t have any sons, then that means his daughters won’t have any opportunities….
and therefore – women won’t have any opportunities.
Ok, so we don’t need another political fight taking away women’s right to abort, have access to birth control, etc. but we can go ahead and force Catholic Hospitals/institutions that don’t believe in b/c to go against their consciences to provide it?
“I agree, JDC,, but I can’t stand Romney either. He just comes across as an arrogant, entitled jerk.”
I agree, to an extent. Romney does have many flaw. Honestly, the main reason I’m behind him is that I’d much rather have him than Obama filling any Supreme Court vacancies that may come up.

I agree strongly. She could do a lot of good if she wins.
“We don’t need another political fight about ending a woman’s right to choose, or getting rid of Planned Parenthood…”
Bad news, Mr. President: you’re going to get one! Or rather, the same one will continue until abortion is a sad part of American history.
And that is why I’m voting for ABO (Anyone But Obama) in November. Ugh, the time cannot pass quickly enough!

(Denise) Do you believe the day will come in which the pregnancy that causes panic is consigned to the dustbin of history?
I think it ought to be.
The fact is that girls’ self-esteem tends to crash when they hit puberty. A lot of that may be due to the automatic concern with whether or not they will disappoint their families with pregnancies. The concern with pregnancy falls on the female who is the one who gets pregnant. If girls are to grow up healthy, we must find a way to deal with this that does not disable them and fill them with shame and fear over their sexuality.
@JDC – I would love it if Romney picked a prolife woman as running mate, but I don’t think he will.
Mia Love is endorsed by the Susan B. Anthony List: http://www.sba-list.org/endorsed-candidates. If she wins, she’s not only going to catch hell because of her views but also because she is married to a white man (which is kind of strange, since I thought Mormons were against interracial marriage).
