Pro-life video of the day: Cokie Roberts – Democrat Convention “over the top” on abortion

by Jill Stanek

Cokie Roberts is one of those who exactly fits the definition of “mainstream media.” She has worked as an on-air journalist for outfits like PBS, NPR, and ABC since the early 1980s. She is so pro-abortion she opposed the Partial Birth Abortion Ban.

Yet, Sunday on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Roberts joined the surprising throng of MSM reporters who agree with pro-lifers that the Democratic National Convention was nothing short of an abortion-palooza. Money quote:

Except you took out, on the issue of abortion, you took out language from previous platforms that said it should be safe, legal and rare. And I think this Democratic Convention was really over the top in terms of abortion. Every single speaker talked about abortion. And you know at some point you start to alienate people. 30 percent of Democrats are pro-Life.

  1. “We had leaders in the Catholic faith in our convention.”

Who is talking about?  The only leader was Cardinal Dolan and he specifically told you to protect the preborn.

Princess Caroline Kennedy – not a leader, and rejects the faith
Uncle Joe Biden – not a leader, and rejects the faith
Cranky Aunt Nancy Pelosi – not a leader, and rejects the faith
The White Witch of the HHS Mandate – not a leader, and rejects the faith
Funky Sandra Fluke – not a leader, and rejects the faith
Soul Sister Simone Campbell – not a leader, and rejects the faith
Delegates who rejected God – not leaders, and reject the faith

Mr. Booker, is there someone I am missing?

  2. It’s a shame to see Corey Booker backtrack so far to the left. He’s betting his career on Obama winning. If he doesn’t, an about-face won’t be believable, like Artur Davis’ was.

Krugman was itching to protest any semblance of sanity from Cokie Roberts.

  3. my tweet to Cory Booker:

Why did you lie and say that #prolife doesn’t support life of the mother exceptions on @ABC yesterday?

  4. If 30% of Democrats are pro-life, someone should tell them they are in the wrong party.

It’s so frustrating that there are no pro-life physicians willing to publicly refute and/or clarify whether a “life of the mother exception” is even needed. As a non-medical person I’d suggest it is not, because a physician’s duty is always to preserve life. Salpingostomy and salpingectomy are common practice in the case of ectopic pregnancy and not in the same category as “abortion on demand” as the pro-aborts would have us think. Maybe a medical person could clarify this perceived need for “life of mother exceptions”.

  5. xalisae, good catch.  The number of lies Mr. Booker was espousing was so numerous it was hard to track them all.  The Democrats are very good at throwing everything and the kitchen sink in order to win the election.  These people have no concept of honesty.

We don’t have a party. The democratic party has been co-opted by international socialists. They want open borders, they want to re-write the Constitution, they want to surrender aspects of America’s soverighty to the UN and such, and they want to dissemble America’s economic strength, and otherwise  distribute our wealth as they, these internationalists, see fit.

In my assessment of politics as they are today, we ought to have four parties. Conservative/Republicans could split into fiscal and social conservatives, and liberals could split into American democrats and international socialists. Alliances could be made issue by issue. It would be more difficult for banks, unions, and other powerful special interests to maintain their hold on federal elected officials. There would be no such thing as Obama’s ignoring of half of America, as happened with his back-door secret-deal health reform.

  7. Looked to me like someone was whispering sweet nothings in Krugman’s earpiece.

I agree with ‘The Last Democrat’.

When Joseph Lieberman said,  ‘Adios, ratones!’, he should have turned out the lights and locked the door behind him.

If the speakers at the recent DNC are representaive of all, or even most, democrats, then today’s democRAT mob bears little resemblance to the party that Al Smith represented when he was alive.

I  doubt the 60’s version of John F. Kennedy could win the nomination or even be allowed to speak at the convention.
