Stanek Sunday quote: “Among the survivors will be those whom the Lord calls”
Then whoever calls on the name of the LORD will be saved. Those who escape will be on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem. Among the survivors will be those whom the LORD calls, as the LORD has promised.
~ Joel 2:32, God’s Word translation

Can someone tell me what Mount Zion is? I am pretty sure what my parent’s cult taught me about Mount Zion isn’t really what Christian theology teaches, lol, and I am curious.

The most important use of the word “Zion” is in a theological sense. “Zion” is used figuratively of Israel as the people of God . The spiritual meaning of “Zion” is continued in the New Testament, where it’s given the Christian meaning of God’s spiritual kingdom, the heavenly Jerusalem. Peter refers to Christ as “The Cornerstone Of Zion”:
“See I lay a cornerstone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in Him will never be put to shame”. 1 Peter 2:6.
Does that help explain it, Jack?

Thanks, Pamela. Am reminded of the old hymn:

Thank you Pamela, that makes sense.

That pictured “abortion survivor” has been adopted.
The truth is that BOTH abortion AND adoption would decrease if the only women getting pregnant were those who want to have babies.
They might not disappear. Something might happen during the pregnancy to lead the pregnant woman to not want to complete it. After a baby is born, a woman might find that she strongly dislikes caring for it or that she doesn’t have the interest she thought she would. That woman would place for adoption.
However, decreasing the number of pregnancies to those who do not yearn to have babies would make the world a far, far better place. That should be the focus.

Jill,
This is a precious story, and the young man is precious as well.
It is a sad thing that all women cannot have a baby anytime they want, but there are thousands of women unable to conceive who are thankful that other women placed their children for adoption…
…actually, because of Romans 8:15-16, I am personally thankful for adoption…

Jack, I am little curious – what did your parents tell you about Mount Zion?

Oh, that it was a heaven for only Jewish people that Jews made up and I guess hacked the Bible to put references in about it or something, because they are evil or something. That cult hated Jews about as much as they hated Catholics. I knew they were full of crap, I just didn’t know what real Christians meant when they talked about Zion. Now I do.
