TODAY! First annual “Leave the Abortion Industry” Day
UPDATE: 4/8, 12:45p: Today’s the day! As we speak, Abby Johnson is part of a contingent appealing to abortion clinic workers to leave their jobs outside of the Planned Parenthood late-term abortion clinic in Austin, Texas.
Here’s a photo just texted to me of And Then There Were None fellow board member, Jennie Stone. Click to enlarge…
Abby was featured on Fox News yesterday. Here’s video…

So far five abortion clinic workers have contacted ATTWN. Please pray for them and “Leave the Abortion Industry Day.” Also promote this on Facebook and Twitter. Use hashtag #Exodus2013.
5/25, 3:28p: Former Planned Parenthood manager Abby Johnson’s amazing conversion story is well-known in the pro-life world: After visualizing an abortion on ultrasound, Abby walked out of her Bryan, Texas, PP clinic in October 2009 and walked into the Coalition for Life office headed by Shawn Carney, who now coleads the 40 Days for Life ministry.
Since then Abby has never looked back, releasing the best-selling exposé, UnPLANNED, in 2011 and launching the And Then There Were None ministry last year.
ATTWN reaches out to abortion workers to encourage them to leave the trade.
To date ATTWN has helped 47 souls escape that bloody industry. ATTWN helps former clinic workers in four important ways, providing:
- Up to three months of financial support after a worker resigns
- Emotional support as often as needed during the transition time
- A spiritual advisor of the former worker’s choosing
- Legal counsel who will protect the worker’s interests at no cost during transition
Now Abby has announced Exodus 2013, the first annual “Leave the Abortion Industry” Day, on April 8. As explained on the group’s Pray for Day of Exodus 2013 Facebook page,”This is the designated day that employees of abortion clinics leave their jobs in pursuit of new careers, knowing they have support.”
ATTWN will promote the event with a targeted Facebook campaign as well as with fliers sent to abortion clinics nationwide. All communications are kept confidential.
Of course, abortion clinic workers shouldn’t feel like they need to wait. As noted on Exodus 2013’s Facebook page, “We’ve already been contacted by a clinic worker who doesn’t want to wait until April 8 to leave and she has quit already!”
Abortion clinics are fighting to hold on to their accomplices. Former workers have told Abby about emails and fliers clinics have distributed telling employees to avoid her. Obviously, working for an abortion clinic is not something most would aspire to. Getting and keeping hired help must be a full-time job, pardon the pun.
We don’t yet have the law on our side. But we can kill abortion by a thousand other cuts. One of those is those is depriving the abortion industry of people to do their dirty work. In the process, we are pulling them from the pit of hell.
Coincidentally, Abby chose “Exodus 2013” not realizing Exodus 20:13 states, “You shall not murder,” the fifth commandment.

Way to go, Abby.
another God incidence Exodus 2013 Exodus 20:13
Yep Caroline the nures at Martin Ruddocks clinic left. She went to ask our pastor for a hug. Pretty nurse post abortive mom. He told her to leave. It took time but she left. Btw my pastor travels to different states for anti abortion protests . He’s met Abigail Johnson a few times. She told him that putting the baby parts together after an abortion wasn’t enough to make her want to quit. He says she comes off a bit cold but at least she quit!
April 8th is a fabulous day for this event! It is also the the day celebrated this year as the Feast of the Annunciation where the Angel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary announcing that she will be the Mother of God. Beautiful.
As is said – careful what you wish for, you might just get it.
Given that the demand for abortion remains reasonably constant, your campaigns to harrass, intimidate, blockade and expose to risk those who work in the industry may inevitably lead to a fall in the standard of care and the skill level of the medical staff.
So if we see an increase in risks being faced by those undergoing abortion…..
Hilarious Reality.
may inevitably lead to a fall in the standard of care and the skill level of the medical staff.
Like Gosnell?? Boyd?? Carhart?? Tiller?? Ruddock?? Pendergraft?? Hodari??
Bottom of the barrel baby!!!
Well if you’re going to create a situation which makes life difficult or dangerous for good people who may wish to work in a particular field….
Still find it hilarious?
Ruddock..aka murdering Marty has butchered more women n left them sterile. His clinic looks like a haunted house. There are giant holes iin the windows..looks like the city dump..but carharts mill looks worse.
What I find hilarious is YOU Reality.
Good grief. You think your “arguments” are new or something??
Time and time again proaborts BLAME prolifers for the back alley hack abortionists that butcher women. Our fault. Riiiiighhht.
Nothing new under the sun Reality. Nothing new under the sun.
” Given that the demand for abortion remains reasonably constant, your campaigns to harrass, intimidate, blockade and expose to risk those who work in the industry may inevitably lead to a fall in the standard of care and the skill level of the medical staff.”
The demand for abortion doesn’t remain reasonably constant, though. It depends on the country. In the developing world the abortion rate has either remained constant or increased, while in the developed world it’s fallen fairly steadily since the nineties. The worldwide rate declined since the nineties overall. Finland, I think, has a particularly low rate. Now, abortion is a hard thing to actually get statistics on, but it does seem as though the perceived need for it decreases with economic stability, better social safety nets, etc, etc etc. Even in the US it’s decreased quite a bit from the nineties.
So anyway, it doesn’t seem accurate that the demand for abortion remains constant. And it doesn’t seem relevant to this post anyway. Where do you see this post, or Abby if that’s who you are aiming this at, supporting harrassment, intimidation, etc?
Abby Johnson is an amazing woman with an amazing story, and this is a wonderful ministry she has. She’s been there and she really cares about these abortion workers. And who doesn’t need someone to really care about them?
Fewer abortion workers, fewer abortion clinics, fewer abortions, “And Then There Were None”. Sounds like a great plan to me.
It is my pleasure and my honor to pray in front of these abortion mills during 40 Days for Life campaigns. One just ended and I’m looking forward to the next one in the fall. Abby Johnson is one of the people who inspires me, just by seeing what she does and how she cares.
I didn’t mean all around the world Jack, sorry if I was unclear.
I would opine that the fall in the ‘abortion’ rate is likely due to the increased use of morning after type drugs.
And why do places such as Finland have low rates? Good sex-ed, availability of contraception, good social safety nets and, I believe, a healthier culture.
“Where do you see this post, or Abby if that’s who you are aiming this at, supporting harrassment, intimidation, etc?” – this article is about convincing people to leave the abortion industry. Harassment, intimidation etc. are also aspects of the campaign against abortion and getting people out of the industry. The rate of abortion hasn’t dropped to any significant extent therefore…what I said.
Yep you warn the women not to enter. Pffft we don’t grab them by their ankles and scream and restrain them..we warn them..then 30 minutes later the ambulance pulls up to take the butchered woman to the hospital.
Happens all the time. One post abortive woman approached our pastor and said ” i wish i would have listened to you 2 weeks ago. I miss my baby already .”
“What I find hilarious is YOU Reality.” – yes well, people do sometimes laugh when they are unable to respond adequately.
“Good grief. You think your “arguments” are new or something??” – possibly not. Nor are they wrong.
“Time and time again proaborts BLAME prolifers for the back alley hack abortionists that butcher women. Our fault. Riiiiighhht.” – if the hat fits…
“Nothing new under the sun Reality. Nothing new under the sun.” – so I’ve noticed.
So for you people who don’t think we have any business being out there then stop using my tax dollars to kill your children. my tax dollars my choice !
“Well if you’re going to create a situation which makes life difficult or dangerous for good people who may wish to work in a particular field….”
An invitation to financial, emotional, spiritual, and legal support during a transition to a more desirable job … Why must we make life so difficult and dangerous?! Yes, I do find that hilarious, Reality.
You want a nice comfortable abortion with versed and pain meds post procedure and antibiotics ? You’re running that procedure into over 1000$ needless to say your bith control post abortion …and i have to pay for children to be murdered when I’m against it??
Anyone out there against smoking wanna buy my smokes for me?
Not to mention women who have multiple abortions.
I would opine that the fall in the ‘abortion’ rate is likely due to the increased use of morning after type drugs.
Which “morning after type drugs” are you talking about? Plan B, which neither causes an abortion nor has a significant impact on the rate? Or RU-486, which is included in Guttmacher’s abortion stats – yet abortion rates have still fallen over time and tend to be the lowest in pro-life states?
“An invitation to financial, emotional, spiritual, and legal support during a transition to a more desirable job … Why must we make life so difficult and dangerous?! Yes, I do find that hilarious, Reality.” – I’m impressed LifeJoy!I didn’t know that you were so capable of deliberate distortion too.
You know very well what I mean by harass, intimidate, blockade and expose to risk and their propensity to create difficult and dangerous situations.
Another good question Navi. Perhaps we should ask those who subscribe to even the pill being an abortifacient. The number of pregnancies terminated by the use of RU486 is not data which can be accurately collected.
Now why would abortion rates be lower in anti-choice states. Could it be because women travel elsewhere to obtain abortions? Could it be that the statistics aren’t being fully collated because of the anti-choice activities?
The number of pregnancies terminated by the use of RU486 is not data which can be accurately collected.
It doesn’t sound too difficult, and Guttmacher doesn’t seem to suggest it’s a serious methodological flaw. RU-486 was approved in 2000 in the U.S. Do you see erratic changes in any of the relevant statistics starting at this time? The data isn’t perfect, but it’s not plausible that the abortion rate is just artificially deflated for this reason.
Now why would abortion rates be lower in anti-choice states. Could it be because women travel elsewhere to obtain abortions?
Some do, but the link is still there even if you just look at state of residence.
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2009/06/pro-life-states-have-lower-abortion.html
Changes in the legal environment post-Casey undoubtedly affected supply as well.
http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2007/02/analyzing-the-effect-of-state-legislation-on-the-incidence-of-abortion-among-minors
Public funding also has a major impact.
Could it be that the statistics aren’t being fully collated because of the anti-choice activities?
How are these even remotely related?
The use of and outcomes of RU486 and other similar treatments is not and cannot be accurately assessed.
Ah, sorry, I misunderstood. When you said “tend to be the lowest in pro-life states” I thought you were intimating that anti-choice states were more effective at preventing women who want abortions from having them.
It’s logical that states with a higher rate of anti-choicers would have lower abortion rates.
“Changes in the legal environment post-Casey undoubtedly affected supply as well…..Public funding also has a major impact” – hence all the provisos ‘fivethirty eight’ highlight.
Harrass, intimidate, cajole, scream, expose, etc. etc.
Yeah, those poor widdle helpless abortion workers. You mean we won’t let them kill and mangle without a fight?
Looks like someone hacked Abby’s ATTWN website. The text box showing Ann’s story shows as blank.
If you try to add a comment, a trojan will attempt to invade. Hope your antivirus stops it as mine did.
If you have Abby’s personal email address, let her know.
“I would opine that the fall in the ‘abortion’ rate is likely due to the increased use of morning after type drugs.”
This tends not to be the case, as was recently found in Sweden: http://www.thelocal.se/46740/20130315/
“And why do places such as Finland have low rates? Good sex-ed, availability of contraception, good social safety nets and, I believe, a healthier culture.”
Given that the large majority of people having abortions in the US are grown women (I imagine the same is true in Europe), I am not sure what sex ed has to do with anything. European countries have lower abortion rates than the US because their abortion laws tend to be much stricter. The country with the laxest abortion laws in Europe is England, and the country with the highest abortion rate in Europe is…wait for it….England!
There’s a full time job opening up at my place of employment. Nice environment, good commute, and no baby killing.
Way to go, Abby! That’s REALLY funny that you chose “Exodus 2013” only to find out the scripture is, “Do not murder”! Proof God has a sense of humor! But what a blessing, how God can use a soul to bring about so much good for Him if they just turn and allow God to work! I pray that many post-abortive women and women from the abortion industry change their minds, change their hearts, and allow God to use them as you have. I know it has a lot to do with the loving people you’ve been surrounded with and that helped draw you out. You’re clearly seeking to do the same for others. God bless you!
Jill, thanks so much for all you do with great courage and perseverence! Blessings!
Reality: If Planned Parenthood cares for their patients the way they claim to, they can simply lower their abortion quotas to account for the lack of staffing, don’t you think?
Reality, you do understand that RU486 can be taken up to 9 weeks LMP, don’t you? Please do not confuse this with a Plan B or MAP taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex and is available online or over the counter. The use of RU486 can be documented especially when state funded insurances cover it, such as Medi-Cal.
RU486 kills a fetus by first cutting off all nutrition and fluids and then the next pill causes contractions. The sad thing is that the woman is the “pro-active” participant in this scenario and gets to see her baby expelled. Often times the woman experiences PTSD immediately rather than having it delayed when she is the “passive” participant during a surgical abortion.
“There’s a full time job opening up at my place of employment. Nice environment, good commute, and no baby killing.” – what’s the role?
The trouble is Elizabeth, the demand is still there. Forced birthers increasing womens’ risks.
That’s all quite interesting Cinnamon girl (Neil Young fan?) and thank you.
The part I find relevant to what I’ve been saying is “The use of RU486 can be documented…”
Hi Reality,
I am still wondering where your staunch support of abortion comes from. Your deeply held belief that it is a woman’s “right” to pay someone to kill her child.
Yes or No.
Are you an abortionist?
Do you assist in abortions?
Are you an escort?
Do you write for RH Reality Check?
Are you on the board of Planned Parenthood?
There is a REASON we all believe the way we do.
I am just trying to figure out what brought you here.
The answer to all those questions is no Carla.
I have spent my life observing people and society. What goes on, what really goes on. What matters to people. What drives people.
And one of the conclusions this has brought me to is, as I said on another thread, ‘the bottom line is that each individual woman who finds herself to be carrying a ‘product of conception’ is the only person who will decide when and if she will continue gestation and when and if it becomes a ‘baby’ or ‘person’.
What you or I may think or say doesn’t really matter.
“‘the bottom line is that each individual woman who finds herself to be carrying a ‘product of conception’ is the only person who will decide when and if she will continue gestation and when and if it becomes a ‘baby’ or ‘person’.
What you or I may think or say doesn’t really matter.”
Reality, if that were true, then women would never listen to what other people tell them and change their minds about having abortions. Or, maybe they would never listen to those who tell them they should get abortions in the first place. What we think and say does matter. And because it does, the woman is not the only person who will decide if she gives birth to her child or not. Others participate in that decision, one way or another, though of course the final say is hers.
During the just-ended Lent 40 Days for Life campaign, 554 women changed their minds and chose life. And that’s just the ones we know about, and that’s just one campaign of one pro-life effort.
So it’s important for those of us who want to rescue unborn children from death and women and their families from lifetimes of regret and pain to keep speaking up, sharing the truth and sharing options with women considering abortions. And that’s exactly what I will do.
I don’t know about you Victor, but if I’m making a significant decision I usually avail myself of all the information I can and sometimes I even ask other people for their thoughts or input.
Sometimes people offer it uninvited.
Then I make my decision.
So as you say “Others participate in that decision, one way or another, though of course the final say is hers”
“554 women changed their minds” – for how long? How many were just saying what they felt they needed to say to stop the haranguing?
Reality, thanks, you just made my point.
Women considering abortions don’t make their decisions in isolation, though the abortion industry tries to convince them to do just that, with all their rhetoric about “it’s a woman’s choice”, and “a woman has a right to do what she wants with her own body”.
They may not avail themselves of “all the information they can”, because the abortion industry goes out of their way to keep that from them and tell them that the abortion that will make them lots of money is the woman’s only option. But usually they ask some other people. They might ask more people and find more information if they knew there were people out there who really cared about them. And that is where loving pro-life people come in.
“554 women changed their minds”-for how long?
I don’t know? Do you? These women are followed up on and given ongoing care. Who knows at this point if they will all stick with their decision not to abort. But we know that many of them do. Many even become pro-life advocates who try to help other women considering abortions. For those who change their minds, at least we know they have been given more information, had other options to consider, and been shown love and care. So it’s not usually just a case of a woman said she changed her mind and left with no continued support.
“Women considering abortions don’t make their decisions in isolation” – I didn’t say that they did.
My point has been made. I stated “is the only person who will decide” - Other people may provide information and/or input but no-one will make the decision for her. What you or I may think or say doesn’t really matter.
Who came up with the number 554? On what basis? Is it verifiable?
Reality, why do progressives belief they can end poverty with just the right combination of social programs and education, but believe people will always want to kill babies no matter how much support we give them? Of course here I am assuming you are progressive, but it is just odd to me how on this issue, and this issue alone, progressives turn into the most pessimistic, fatalistic bunch of people that ever existed. Why don’t you try offering direct support for pregnant women at pro-life pregnancy centers, surely you don’t want the same demand to exist for abortions forever, do you?
@Reality: 40% of women are coerced into abortion by parents, partner or peers. Read about post-abortive women. Watch Maafa21 on Youtube or their site. Read LifeNews once in a while. Search on Pro-Life sites. Don’t make your decisions in isolation. Pro-Lifers do more good for women than abortion ever can. Listen to the testimony of Alisa Polt.., Listen to former abortionists..Follow the Kermit Gosnell trial in Phil.. A well-rounded person who touts reality isn’t afraid of facts…you seem afraid of facts that don’t support your views.. Why is that.?
Reality, yes or no, is the fetus inside a human woman a human? Is it alive?
You are saying the mother gets to decide if and when that living human being becomes a person? Oh the nazis and white slave owners would be so proud of you Reality!
I say EVERY SINGLE HUMAN is a person no matter age, gender, race, sexual orientation or location.
Because reality is totally 100% abortion. He says he has a girlfriend and I am willing to bet he pressured her to abort. He doesn’t want to see a single negative to abortion ….watch him he never does. GUILT ? I know he will be back to say its not true but the guilty ones always fight the hardest.
Reality played a part in someones abortion. If he hasn’t then he’s just a troll. Nothing better to do but hassle pro lifers and stand in the way of our cause . Just like unrepentant post abortive women . They are rude foul nasty .
Hi Carla, 7:49PM
Yeah, I had to do a double take when I read that too. Its hard to lower standards when they don’t exist in the first place.
Look at Megan or bv or whatever name she’s using . Anything to get that diploma. Even if it means being irresponsible in your sexual actions . So what? Just kill the mistake.
Reality 7:43PM
If the truth wasn’t so tragic your comment would be laughable.
Sure wouldn’t want to see Gosnell forced to lower his standards would we Reality?
How about that reality ..the woman who told my pastor. ” I wish I would have listened to you. I miss my baby already .” 2 Weeks post abortion
Mary he couldn’t go much lower could he??
Just as i have never believed Hal from day one.
for reality

Actually, there are some restrictions on abortion in Finland that would make pro-aborts in the U.S. go ballastic, such as the fact that abortions must be done in hospitals (no clinics there), that the woman must be told about fetal development, and that two doctors must sign off on the abortion (I suppose its automatic, just like judicial bypass laws are over here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_in_Finland
Quit feeding the troll Ya’ll. Especially one with a name that is obviously an oxymoron.
JackB said a million posts back “Now, abortion is a hard thing to actually get statistics on”
Why is that I wonder if it’s nothing to be ashamed about, not really murder and just another surgical procedure, part of “women’s health care”, etc etc….? *eye roll*
Really no need to answer that, rhetorical question.
Although I will commend “R” with being able to (mostly) hold a civil conversion unlike “Jake” who really lends nothing to the discussion….well neither does “R” but hey at least he’s not calling people names and stalking them online other places.
Reality, if you spent any time at all reading about Abby Johnson, you would know that she has NO tolerance for intimidation, harassment, or bullying, from anyone. Exodus 2013 is about encouraging those who feel trapped within the abortion industry and offering them an out, with open arms and financial and moral assistance.
If these workers remain trapped in a job they don’t want, they’re more likely, not less, to make mistakes and create an unsafe environment for women. You should be leaping for joy that Abby Johnson is out there to get these liabilities out of the business of killing. I certainly am!
Regarding the women who changed their minds, I know of two. One is seeing an OB-Gyn and has been relying on the local PRC for childbirth classes and maternity clothing. The other is working with Catholic Charities to put her Down’s baby up for adoption.
So many trolls are unwilling to accept a baby’s humanity as evidenced by the comments on this and many websites about killing babies who survive abortion attempts. The fact that they still think that a baby should be killed on the table, if his or her mother wishes it, REVEALS that bodily autonomy is their very own scarecrow. Once a baby is on the table, out of the mother’s body, SHE the mother is no longer pregnant. Therefore, her autonomy has been returned by the premature EVICTION of her own child. The very notion that she can then “decide” to tell the doctor to destroy the living child proves it: it’s not about women or health. It is certainly about feticide and infanticide.
Every pro-abortion argument I’ve ever encountered is a big fat lie. It’s about death. That’s ALL it’s about.
*back to lurking
Frankly, we have no interest in making it more convenient or easy for people to murder children. And that goes for all the participants. Legal abortion just brought the back alley to the front and called it legit. Abortion supporters know this. Which is why they oppose safety regulations that would diminish their small pool of hacks and why they oppose conscience regulations which would prevent them from forcing the occasional good doctor into the mix.
Amen Ninek!! :)
Hi phillymiss 5:06PM
So could it be that its not birth control and sex ed. but rather limited access to abortion that curbs the abortion rate? Well, I’m sure those so anxious to make abortion rare but legal will look to Finland for guidance.
Did it ever occur to these folks who tout Finland and other “examples” of contrraception and sex ed “preventing” abortion that maybe its the stricter abortion laws in the country instead? Its not every country that allows degenerates and criminals to open abortion “clinics” like our country does.
Yesterday afternoon I tweeted like crazy, trying to reach clinic workers with ATTWN’s message by using all the pro-choice & clinic worker hashtags I could think of. No response yet, we’ll see if we reached anyone. BTW, if you want to follow me on Twitter:
http://twitter.com/bttrfly_angel/
I’ve been praying and I’m eagerly waiting to find out how many abortion workers left or committed to leave the industry yesterday. The abortion industry is having trouble retaining workers and replacing the ones they are losing. People are seeing through their lies and finding better ways than turning their children over to abortionists. The abortion industry fears for their profits and they are getting desperate.
