Perry: Davis “hasn’t learned from her own example”
Who are we to say that children born in the worst of circumstances can’t grow to live successful lives? In fact, even the woman who filibustered the Senate the other day was born into difficult circumstances. She was the daughter of a single woman, she was a teenage mother herself. She managed to eventually graduate from Harvard Law School and serve in the Texas senate.
It is just unfortunate that she hasn’t learned from her own example that every life must be given a chance to realize its full potential and that every life matters.
~ Texas Governor Rick Perry pointing out the irony that Texas lawmaker Wendy Davis, of abortion filibuster fame, failed to see the value of human life despite her own difficult life experiences, via Hot Air, June 27

National Review has the Left’s meltdown following Perry’s statements.
Wow. How true. I’m grateful for Rick Perry.

Wendy Davis retorts, “Rick Perry’s statement is without dignity and tarnishes the high office he holds. They are small words that reflect a dark and negative point of view. Our governor should reflect our Texas values. Sadly, Gov. Perry fails that test.”
Cecile Richards adds, “Rick Perry’s remarks are incredibly condescending and insulting to women. This is exactly why the vast majority of Texans believe that politicians shouldn’t be involved in a woman’s personal health care decisions. Women are perfectly capable of deciding whether to choose adoption, end a pregnancy, or raise a child, and they don’t need Rick Perry’s help making that decision.”
Daily Kos writer Joan McCarter says, “Texas Gov. Rick Perry is digging his hole deeper with women, and decent people, with his War on Women, and he’s making it really ugly, and really personal about his new nemesis, Sen. Wendy Davis.”
I said something on here yesterday that pointed out the same thing that Governor Perry has noticed. And I’m a woman. And I’m a decent woman. I’m not sure how these women feel insulted by the Governor’s remarks. Other than, he struck a big nerve.
Abortion is not healthcare and women don’t need to abort their children to become successful. Ms. Davis is proof of that whether she wants to admit it or not.
Women deserve better than abortion. Thank you Governor Perry for standing up for women and their children.

Well, Governor Perry, you’ve pissed off all the right people. Good. It means you’re doing something right.

See, this whole War on Women emotional play is laid so blatantly empty today. No matter how empowered you think single women can be, no matter how inspiring your comments are it’s never enough if you don’t believe in tearing baby girls limb from limb, organ from organ, bone for bone. It’s just like Orwell said. Loving women is hating women. Killing women is respecting women. Up is down, left is right, good is evil.

What bizarre responses to, in essence, Governor Perry’s affirmation of the value of Wendy Davis’ life. Makes me so glad I left the ‘pro-choice’ side years ago. Can’t even imagine how dark and twisted my logic would have become if I hadn’t.

As a woman, I find Gov. Perry’s remarks to be a huge COMPLIMENT! He’s saying that even in tough situations, women can pull through WITHOUT the need to abort. And he’s RIGHT. We women can. If anything, he’s saying MORE to empower women than Ms. Davis, and the others are.
We don’t need abortion. We can find other, healthier, BETTER ways of dealing with tough situations.

Observe: Rich Perry speaks a truth publicly and the big-time abortion advocates all have to react. *rubs hands together like Mr. Burns* Excellent. Dance, abortionistas, dance!

Now if he could just become president and get rid of those three departments…what were they again…oh yeah…Commerce, Energy and Education. Sounds good. Shrink the federal government that is already bloated and out of control.

“Who are we to say” – and there endeth his accuracy.
Selective scenario citing eh Rick.
“Rich Perry” – freudian slip?
How many executions now?
“get rid of…..Commerce, Energy and Education” – welcome serfdom, horse and cart and raging ignorance. Thankfully Perry will never become president.

Reality, you so funny! Yes, I slipped because I was reminiscing about Bill Clinton’s last minute pardon of the recently deceased Mark Rich, a trader so corrupt even corrupt traders wouldn’t trade with him. Why Clinton felt he owed him the favor is a VERY good question. You’re too young to remember. Better look him up on Wiki. LOL!

Yes well. George Warcriminal Bush has a tasty list of people he pardoned too.
“Too young” – not sure that that falls into the ‘freudian’ category but…..
I am a child of the 50’s.

A lib can never accept criticism without bringing up Bush. Typical. Nobody here worships Bush the way you fools worship The Amateur.

A conservative can never accept criticism without bringing up Clinton – as you did in regard to my criticism of a current politician.
“Nobody here worships Bush they way you fools worship The Amateur.” – no, they worship Reagan, someone who’d be lucky to gain admittance to an RNC meeting nowadays.
I guess obama being an ‘amateur’ is the reason why he was given a second term.
Rest and wreckreation time :-)

Notice how truthseeker and reality changed the subject to say something negative about Gov. Perry. Then, in addition to the ad hominem attack, used other logical fallacies e.g. false continum. Can’t say something nice about something nice Gov. Perry said?

MoJo,
Not sure what you meant about me saying something negative about Perry. I sincerely wish he were president.

Now Travis is saying Perry “shamefully attacked” her. He talked about her graduating from Harvard Law School and serving in the Texas senate in spite of coming from difficult circumstances.
Maybe the only compliment Travis is accepting at this point is praise for her spending eleven hours defending mothers paying people to dismember and decapitate their children.

“Not sure what you meant about me saying something negative about Perry.”
She probably thought you were making fun of him by referencing his inability to remember the names of all the departments he wanted to eliminate.

I can see that JDC. I was having fun with it; but so does Governor Perry….
