Mike Huckabee was right about the Democrat Party’s overactive libido
Here is how NBC’s Kasie Hunt described comments made by former Gov. Mike Huckabee at the Republican National Committee’s winter meeting on January 23:
Huckabee: Women "helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing them … birth control because they cannot control their libido"
— Kasie Hunt (@kasie) January 23, 2014
And here is what Huckabee actually said (video here) - the opposite of what Hunt said he said:
Women I know are outraged that the Democrats think that women are nothing more than helpless and hopeless creatures whose only goal in life is to have the government provide for them birth control medication. Women I know are smart, educated, intelligent, capable of doing anything that anyone else can do.
Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women. That’s not a war on them. It’s a war for them. And if the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control, because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it. Let us take that discussion all across America, because women are far more than Democrats have played them to be. And women across America need to stand up and say, “Enough of that nonsense.”
Huckabee was dispensing obvious truth, that women are far more than the simple sexual objects Democrats view them as. He was also saying in so many words that women have a lot more important concerns than government handouts of contraceptives.
But liberaland has piled on, including Cosmo…
… following by venerable twerkster Miley Cyrus:
hey @Cosmopolitan I'm just sitting around unable to control my "libido" & my "reproductive system". WBU? How's your Friday?
— Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) January 24, 2014
S. E. Cupp called it on CNN’s The Situation Room:
I’ve got to say that I feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone. It is so 100% clear that Mike Huckabee was talking about the Democratic treatment towards women and not his own feeling or the Republican Party’s feeling about women.
I have never seen lazier, more intellectually dishonest analysis of this moment than I have today. I mean, it’s shocking to me. It is clear what Mike Huckabee’s intention was here.
Show me a poll where “government subsidy of contraceptives” ranks as even a blip as a priority of America’s women, particularly the poor. How insulting.
Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards claims Republicans want to take us back to the 1950s.
If that’s so, Democrats want to take us back to the 1800s, when women were diagnosed with hysteria if their libidos weren’t satisfied, when a woman’s unquenched sexual appetite was the cause of all her problems.
No, what women want from the government is what men want – safe neighborhoods, good schools, low unemployment, national security, and a strong economy.
But Mike Huckabee was right. Democrats instead give them contraceptives and abortion – so they won’t become hysterical about all the failings of the political party currently running the country?
Enough of that nonsense!!
Thank you Governor Huckabee!

Was their a talking points memo that went to all the fringe hard right political sites to tell them to try to counter the ‘war on women’ conversations?

It was a pretty smooth way of saying ” birth control should not be considered a part of womens health”.
I see Susanne Atanus has been asked to shut-up and go away. That’s a shame.

“Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women. ”
Right, like ensuring that a private health insurance company does not practice gender discrimination, i.e. providing the full spectrum of healthcare for men but not for women.

Isn’t Huckabee supposedly a man?

Perhaps that’s the problem with Huckabee. He and his control freaks can’t satisfy those “overactive libido” women.

It is freakin’ hilarious to watch all of you trolls pile on here!
Do you have anything constructive to offer?
You heard the pollsters — women really want safe neighborhoods, good schools, low unemployment, national security, and a strong economy.
Do you really hope to win elections with more promises of free contraception? Huckabee is warning you: American Women aren’t as dumb as you think they are.

Merit,
Yeah, talk to Bill Clinton about “overactive libido” women! Geez all those psychos, bimbos, trailer trash, and obsessive females(his supporters’ words not mine) that just victimized poor Bill!
And Ted Kennedy. The nerve of that woman accusing his nephew of rape! Lucky Uncle Ted was there to bail him out.

Hey, Mary, isn’t it ironic that nearly all of the Democrats busted for “overactive libidos” at least messed with consenting adults.
On the other hand, dozens of Republicans busted for “overactive libidos” were involved with children. BTW, google Jesse Ryan Loskarn, who committed suicide and was Lamar Alexander’s aide involved (allegedly with child porn).
Or, David Vitter, Haley Barbour and some other Republicans will do just as well for those who messed with adult women.

Not quite Merit,
Your boy Bill was accused of everything from exposing himself to rape. But hey, they were just bimbos, liars, trailer trash, and obsessed with him. Guess that made it OK.
Your Democrat hero Ted Kennedy left a woman to die. Lucky for his nephew he could bail him out of that rape charge, ya think? Throughout the trial the feminists maintained a deafening silence, even though the victim didn’t have a prayer against the Kennedy millions.

I contacted NBC to express that I thought they could do better than Ms. Hunt. I am sure my sentiments will cross out some proabort’s who is calling for her lies to get her a promotion and raise!
I agee, Del. It is absolutely hilarious to watch.

Yes we disagree with you Steven.
In Internet slang, a troll (/?tro?l/, /?tr?l/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally[3][4] or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[5] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[6]

You have been asked repeatedly WHY you are here Steven(are you postabortive?)as you crow with glee over the legalized killing of innocent preborn human beings. Your gratefulness to Cecile Richards and your exclamations that you would have aborted a sweet boy named Christian all done on the nation’s TOP prolife blog.
If the shoe fits.
Oh and please give me the names of those intimidating you to leave.

Thank you, Carla, for posting that definition. Steven is an internet troll (and sorry to burst his bubble, but he’s probably the 500th one saying the exact same unoriginal, unthinking, heartless trash that all the others have said).
By the way, this “nation’s TOP prolife blog” can and does moderate and remove comments that break our commenting rules. Please refrain from directly namecalling other commenters, so that we can leave your highly intelligent comments posted for everyone to enjoy in the future.

By the way, on topic: I’m not a fan of Huckabee AT ALL, but what the media did to completely twist his words and have them mean something completely different than what he actually stated… well, THAT is a real example of being taken out of context!!
Unlike what NY Gov. Cuomo said about “right to lifers.”

Lefties regard the gestational process by which humans propagate their species to be a disease state. This is why they demand that women be put on drugs to stop this.
Notice that so many of the socialist leftie countries are facing severe population decline and the naturally accompanying societal and economic decline.
Watching the mainstream media sucks away IQ points. There are no known medications for dementia which can compensate for this loss.

The message is simple: contraception is not the government’s responsibility for an individual “choice” Instead pro-aborts prefer to twist this message and cry about how these “poor, helpless” women are treated.
“…they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control, because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it.”
Huckabee was not stating women cannot control their libidos. This statement conveys that by providing women with birth control, those that do so (the democrats) further devalue women’s decision making and keep them enslaved to dependency. Some most definitely have reading comprehension problems (hi “merit,” does misreading Midge’s prayer ring a bell, dejavu all over again ;) )
Miley Cyrus is an airhead..

Birth control is not healthcare. Sebelius/HHS knows this. Birth control does not cure or ameliorate a medical illness or disease or disability, and it does not prevent a disease or illness or disability.
Sebelius/ HHS commissioned the Institute of Medicine to develop this report: “Clinical Preventive Services for Women: Closing the Gaps” July 2011. In this report, the authors never identify birth control as a medical intervention, but make the case that is should be covered as yet another “clinical preventive service” as noted in Obamacare.
Reading that report is a good exercise in political rhetoric. All other conditions reviewed -Pap smears/cervical cancer, etc. follow usual medical-talk, but then the language gets creative for birth control. “All sexually active women with reproductive capacity are at risk for unintended pregnancy.” “Family planning services,” etc.
In that high-level, scholarly report, the authors do not cross the line to say birth control is health care. But the rhetoric has succeeded: in stump speeches, and any more casual discourse setting, birth control is allowed to morph into “healthcare.”
This is the medicalization of everyday life.
Plastic surgeons do this by discussing “normal” bodies and “self-esteem” connected with perception of some body part as inadequate or embarrassing.
The liberals who espouse birth control as “healthcare” have been sold – have been duped and used as useful idiots.
I know “birth control” can be used to treat acne. Don’t insult my intelligence with that trope. That is not what we are talking about here.
Just because it is prescribed by a physician or other healthcare provider who is allowed to prescribe prescription drugs, and this is usually done in a healthcare setting, and just because a provider could get in trouble for malpractice for prescribing wrongly, does not make it healthcare.
It is similar to Viagra or cosmetic surgery, or pro baseball players taking steroids: it is a medical avenue for achieving some lifestyle goal.
The architects of Obamacare know this. To advance their agenda, however, they had to develop a scientifick-y sounding defense of birth control as a service that ought to be covered by Obamacare – with no co-pay.
So, in 2010, a high-profile panel of healthcare practitioners and researchers was composed by the Institute of Medicine. They were tasked to review women’s clinical care and make recommendations about what “ought” to be covered, from a clinical perspective. The goal was to engineer policy to match clinical knowledge - a great goal.
I believe that getting birth control to be among the services was a leading desired outcome all along.
So, all relevant literature was reviewed by this panel

Well, Mary, I didn’t embed it into the post. And, it’s hardly any worse than many of the posts on this website, especially the ones that have defamed Erick Munoz. Of course, Erick Munoz has enough class to consider the sources.

Merit,
You considered it a great response.
BTW, in all fairness, I have taken a few people to task on this blog for their posts as well, so I am hardly singling you out.
