How might Chelsea Clinton’s pregnancy affect Hillary’s campaign?
On the one hand, the armchair thinking goes, having a grandchild may make the Iowa State Fair a less appealing place to spend the summer of 2015. Why beg donors for money at dozens of events a month when there’s a happy baby to spend time with in New York?
On the other hand, a grandchild could also heighten the pull of history for [Hillary] Clinton – the sense that she owes it to the daughters of future generations to walk the rest of the path toward becoming the most powerful woman in history….
Besides, in the vernacular of cable television, becoming a grandmother can only “humanize” Clinton, who has long been critiqued for her aloof demeanor and rigid personal discipline.
The Republican strategist Michael Goldfarb suggested the timing of the pregnancy was fortuitous for that reason, tweeting: “Just in time for HRC to have a baby on stage with her when she announces she’s running, right?”
The timing would seem to work out that way.
On Chelsea Clinton’s Facebook page, throngs of admirers noted the same hypothetical timeline. “I am sure your Mom will love having a grandchild running around the White House with her!” one wrote. Another imagined: “The first grandchild to be raised in the White house! Hillary giving the baby a bottle while giving a press conference. How wonderful!”
Still another posted a photo of an infant in a “Ready for Hillary” shirt.

I don’t care if she has ten grandchildren. I would NEVER vote for her.

Didn’t we watch an unqualified man win so people could feel like they were making history? Will people really vote for her so they can prove how not-sexist they are? And everytime we criticize her, will it be blamed on her being a woman? Will the lamestream media that onced pushed her aside for their “rock star” suddenly whitewash her epic fails? Will they do anything, publish anything just so a conservative doesn’t win?
A baby won’t change anything, but he or she is going to be one heck of a convenient prop.

Congratulations to Chelsea Clinton. I would just like to add that I hope that Hillary Clinton will have PLENTY of time to spend with her grandchild over the next few years.

Sarah Palin has suffered adverse media scrutiny for her dedication as a mother and grandmother.
The sycophant media will buoy up Hillary, using any means necessary.
Meanwhile, let’s hope that this child will humanize Chelsea. We wish Chelsea and her child great happiness, and conversion of heart.

Chelsey is referring to her pregnancy as a “child”. Isn’t this breaking some sort of proabort rule?
Or is he or she a “child” when Chelsey is pregnant but a “clump of cells” when a lesser female is pregnant?

Pregnancies have a way to change the most hard of hearts. Chelsea and Hillary will bond over this child even more than they have to date. I wish the future mother and the future grandma the best on their new path to salvation….

“Maybe gramps will finally start acting his age.”
I like to think that everyone can change, but I believe Clinton will be a dog until the day he dies.

Hillary beats any republican by 10 points if the election were today. It wouldn’t even be close.

EGV,
The election is two and a half years away. That’s a few thousand light years in politics, give or take a hundred. Today’s polls don’t mean squat.

Chelsea is currently a mother and Hilary is currently a grandmother to the yet to be born child.

I congratulate and wish the new parents, baby, and grandparents every happiness.

All this speculation is premature. We won’t know whether this is a wanted pregnancy until after the amniocentesis.

Will people eventually get confused as to who is the real mother of the baby, as they did in the cases of Sarah and Bristol Palin?

Hi PHarmer1
Great point. I’ve heard of confusion over who the father is…but the mother??

Can I get a link to the quote of Chelsea calling it a baby?
Until she does it’s not a baby.
It is just a buncha cells. A lump of tissue. A blob. A fetus.
Good grief. Why all the fuss?????
HAPPY CLUMP OF CELLS TO YOU CHELSEA!!!
Can’t wait to see what you get at your first fetus shower.

Oh my Henrietta.
It’s been ages.

I thought Henrietta’s comment was dark humor.
But I don’t know her stance. Yikes- could someone really mean that, be that callous? Wouldn’t she care about the message sent to people with disabilities. Yikes again.

Didn’t we watch an unqualified man win – no, no one’s ever been ‘qualified’ as a POTUS. There isn’t a course of study or apprenticeship to be done titled “Being President 101.” Your not liking him doesn’t make him any less a president than any predecessors.
The sycophant media will buoy up Hillary, using any means necessary – as opposed to the other sycophantic (or should that be fanatic, or even manic) parts of the media who deride obama and rave about loons like santorum, palin and romney?
let’s hope that this child will humanize Chelsea. – you don’t think she’s human, interesting.
Chelsea is referring to her pregnancy as a “child” – I thought she said “we’re having a baby” or “we’re having a child”. I didn’t hear her say “we have a baby” or “we’ve got a child”.
Will people eventually get confused as to who is the real mother of the baby, as they did in the cases of Sarah and Bristol Palin? – nope, the clinton’s are intelligent, honest and hard working.

Intelligence does not make anyone honest (not prone to adultery or sacrificing others for personal gain, coppish).
Also, it was Bill Clinton’s hard work as President that resulted in total economic collapse that followed his presidecy…

Maybe it doesn’t. But I did also mention honest, and hard working.
it was Bill Clinton’s hard work as President that resulted in total economic collapse that followed his presidecy… - and yet you expound on intelligence!

Well after all it was Bill’s intellect that put us in this predicament :)

He hasn’t put anyone in any predicament.
