Democrat congresswoman walks out of prayer gathering after Dobson calls Obama “abortion president”
Rep. Janice Hahn just wanted to hear evangelist Billy Graham’s daughter speak at Thursday’s National Day of Prayer gathering on Capitol Hill, but she ended up storming out of the room before that portion of the program could get underway.
The California Democrat said she was appalled by the remarks of Dr. James Dobson, saying she felt he went against the event’s stated nonpartisan and apolitical intent by bashing Barack Obama and calling him the “abortion president.”

He was just telling the truth.
Hissy fit from a political figure. Did her constituency take a note of this juvenile behavior???
Anyone want to place bets on how soon Dr.Dobson gets a visit from the IRS Brownshirts?
“He was just telling the truth.”
Sometimes the truth hurts.
Maybe she was mad Dr. Dobson didn’t give Obama proper due by calling him the “infanticide president.”
Focus on the Family has really lost its relevance over time, which is sad to see. They used to be a great family organization, and while they still have some good qualities, their political arm has had a lot of missteps, and seems more concerned with following and worshiping an elephant than it does staying true to Jesus.
I’d walk out as well. I remember Jesse Ventura walking out of Paul Wellstone’s memorial because something that was supposed to be Wellstone turned into a Democratic pep rally. Same thing here.
She felt the need to leave because she was confronted by the realization that she herself is also a member of the abortion party.
Ewww. There’s that big A word that shouldn’t be talked about in public places. Keep your beliefs private. Oh wait. . . .
“I’d walk out as well.”
Don’t let the trunk hit you in the arse.
Stomp out ya big baby when the truth is spoken.
Thank you Dr. James Dobson for saying what so many others won’t.
It’s ok, Janice, he was merely preventing the room from becoming a pro-choice echo chamber!
Focus on the Family is still relevant. I hope many of you that care about how culture impacts the family join in on this one night movie theater event: http://www.irreplaceablethemovie.com/
Just 3 days away! It sounds fabulous.
…And what, exactly was she hoping to hear from Billy Graham’s daughter ? “God LOOOOVES abortion” ?
Not gonna happen, sweetie.
*Surprised she could remove her lips from O’s behind long enough to walk out !*
I loved that Dr. Dobson told the truth.
Now, let’s pray for Pope Francis to say the same thing.
Lrning – I agree they still have relevance – but not as much as they once did because of their political arm. Their donations and employee count reflect that. I like some of their family stuff – unfortunately, they’ve muddied the waters in their quest for political power. It’s sad to see.
I find Dobson’s views pretty awful in general, but he’s not wrong to call out Obama on abortion.
It’s not sad to see. It’s AWESOME to see. Unless you’re an abortion sympathizer.
Courtnay – I’m assuming you are referring to my post (feel free to say that when you are referencing a comment of mine) – why I say sad to see is that historically, the National Day of Prayer has been about the leaders of this country coming together. Sure, they have differences, but it’s a day about prayer and hope, not of condemnation.
There’s part of me that would love to see somebody blast people in that event on the favoritism of the rich, the oppression of the poor, and other political items I care about – but it isn’t the right forum.
It reminds me of that pastor a year or two back that was blasting individuals from the pulpit during sermons. Wrong way to go about it.
Not sure why anyone calling The Abortion President what he is would upset this proabort congressgirl. I thought proaborts were proud of the legal right to abort children. Why didn’t she just jump up and cheer about the Big O being given the esteemed label of a Big A supporter?
Be a Proud Abortion Supporter! Hey, hey, ho, ho, it’s off to abort you go!
You support it. You own it. Otherwise, the trunk is big enough to hit you in the arse too.

“It reminds me of that pastor a year or two back that was blasting individuals from the pulpit during sermons. Wrong way to go about it.”
Would you have opposed Hitler being blasted from the pulpit?
Maybe Hitler should have only been blasted in private conversations. Oh wait. . .
It’s the absolute RIGHT way to go about it. This monster of a leader we’ve been saddled with has stood up and asked God to bless Planned Parenthood. He has brought shame upon our entire nation through his love affair with abortion, and we need God’s deliverance.
I won’t talk to you directly anymore, Ex, except this one last time. Because you’re, in my opinion, the mealy-mouthed lukewarm “pro-lifer” who gives this movement and all the brave souls who fight for the unborn, including Dr. Dobson, a bad name. Try growing a pair, and learn to call evil evil/
Prax –
In your scenario, Hitler is at the US National Day of Prayer event? Just confirming.
Courtnay –
Thanks for the thoughts and God bless.
Hitler was proud of his ideology. So is Obama.
Saying Final Solution Furhar Hitler is no different than saying Abortion President Obama.
Imagine that! The truth being spoken at an event ostendibly intended to honor God. Good for Mr Dobson. I seem to remember another situation where an abortophile Dem woman stomped off in a guilt-trip hissy-snit-fit. It was Barbara Boxer during Congressional hearings for the partial birth abortion ban. She walked out when Gianna Jesson testified. Both Hahn and Boxer exemplify just how the advocacy of baby-murder will reduce women to the level of classless broads.
None of the Catholics here have answered my question: what are we supposed to call Pope John Paul II now that he’s a saint? Like, do we just keep using the papal name or is it Saint [something]?
Saint John Paul II. http://w2.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/homilies/2014/documents/papa-francesco_20140427_omelia-canonizzazioni.html
I don’t know why she’d be offended by that.
Wouldn’t that be a compliment for them?
Just occurred to me that it is totally impossible to have unreligious prayer breakfast. Janet Baker’s comment sums it all up very well. Some here cried bipartisanship at such an event. If that’s the case what do the attendees pray for – life or death or maybe both? “Please o Lord, let the babies live and die at the same time.” No it does not work that way thus bipartisanship in regard to treating abortion as neutral ground at a prayer breakfast is not attainable.
Obama is the most dishonorable president of my time in the US. And he seems to surround himself with such puppetry. The only positive I can take from this circus is that the democratic party exposes itself for a bunch of cry babies every time.
Speaking of Focus on the Family:
James Dobson began to disengage from Focus on the Family when he resigned as president in 2003… and then he stepped-down as chairman of the board in 2009… and then resigned all-together from radio and newsletter responsibilities a year later.
If your experience with Focus on the Family is based in the last five years you’d know their they are decisively re-focusing on the family (and book title from the current president Jim Daly). Listen to their radio show, get the magazines, attend the conferences…
True, giving was seeing a downward trend 2009-2012 (the most recent numbers I’m seeing), but I have to wonder how much of that was the economy. Our household economy tanked in 2008 so though we were still giving the same percentage, we weren’t giving the total we had been. I can’t help but think our house is a reflection of broader trends.
And Citizen Link, Focus on the Family’s public policy advocacy group, received three times the contributions in 2012 as it did in 2011 after the referred to falling trend.
Think what you will about James Dobson and his comments at the National Day of Prayer event, but I know a great many families, my own included, receiving much benefit from the organization that he founded.
Laurie –
The ‘decline’ would have been a bit before the economy collapse – 2006-2008 or 2009 timeframe. The church I went to where I was living at the time dropped their mailbox stuffings – their political action stuff – and a frequent muttering I heard was “focus on your own darn family”.
Anyway – as an organization, I like some of their family stuff. Their selective picking and choosing of Biblical principles to legislate though has marginalized what they do. Again, I feel that the political arm of their organization bows to the Republican before it bows to Jesus.
And I’m going to move beyond just a quick bumper sticker statement that I just made and explain. There are Christian organizations on the far left and far right that I feel take positions, and then look for Biblical support to work into those positions – picking and choosing what they want to adhere to. I hate that. How a Christian organization can focus on only abortion and same sex marriage is beyond comprehension – it is simply not Biblical.
It is why, though I’m not Catholic, I dig a lot of Catholic organizations because they do a better job of being appalled by both sides. I know it drives right wingers crazy when catholic organizations rip Paul Ryan or other GOPers that make budgets – but it does keep the Bible above the politics, which I like.
Abortion is a right isn’t it? It doesn’t kill a baby but frees a woman…so why do they get upset if you call their guy the abortion president? I mean think of other wonderful, good things. Like hot air balloon rides, cotton candy, cozy pajamas. If you tried to associate me with such things I wouldn’t storm out. Why do they pro-aborts hate hate hate to be tied to the “a” word? If its a good thing you’d think they’d be PROUD to support the “abortion president”! It’s almost like they know abortion kills babies or something.
Thank you, Lrning.
Yeah, cos the Bushes did so much to stop abortion. Obaama is no different than any other president when it comes to abortion, they all know it would be a vote loser to move against it.
Reality – to be fair, Obama didn’t support a law that was passed, and hasn’t been enforced to this day. Bush supported this law, which again, has never been enforced.
And he is different from Bush because the rates of abortion under his watch have been lower.
So there – two differences.
We could probably find more too Ex-GOP :-)
Obama was smart enough to refuse the poisoned chalice.
Like I say, obama is no more an ‘abortion president’ than any other.
Abortion isn’t partisan, even if political parties want to pretend it is. If the gentle congresswoman was offended by someone referring to “the abortion president,” she needs to get away from the never-ending campaign trail.
