Please support JillStanek.com
When I launched my blog in 2005, many didn’t even know what a blog was! I didn’t have to invest much money in the early days due to the low volume of traffic initially.
The Life Prizes award I am indebted for receiving from the Gerard Foundation in 2008 kept the blog financially afloat as it grew to attract thousands of visitors a day. It enabled my partner Tim, of ProLifeBlogs.com, and I to incorporate (to legally protect us personally), and to hire administrative assistant Kelli to care for our growing managerial needs.
Kelli is the only person associated with this blog to receive a salary. All moderators and writers – Alice, Bobby Bambino, Carder, Carla, Gerard, Hans, LauraLoo, and Susie – are volunteers for whom I know we are all so grateful! Nor have Tim or I ever financially gained from our blogs.
But the Life Prizes award has now been depleted, and we have to finally turn to our faithful readers and believers for financial support to cover Kelli, our monthly server fee, and blog improvements.
As you all know, there are precious few news and opinion sources from inside the pro-life world who can break through the liberal wall of protection that surrounds the culture of death. I am grateful to be one. None of these news sources would have quoted me – which is to say, published a pro-life point of view – except for this blog.
In the nine years JillStanek.com has existed, I’ve never requested financial support. But now it is time.
Please consider donating even $5 a month to keep JillStanek.com providing online news and opinion and providing a forum to share the same.
Thanks in advance for your generosity. :)
I will donate ive been here since 2006:)

Thank you, Heather. Yes, you’re one of our “old-timers” – :)

The website to donate is https://www.jillstanek.com/support-jillstanek-com/ . The red “Support JillStanek.com” graphic at the top of this blog post is not linking to the donate page, so Jill might be missing out on donations if people click this, thinking it is a button. Only the textual link “Please consider donating” at the bottom of the post works. I suggest you make the red “Support JillStanek.com” graphic also link to https://www.jillstanek.com/support-jillstanek-com/ . Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you Jill (and friends) for all your hard work supporting Life.

FIve years ago this blog had tremendous coverage of national events, inside scoops, and terrific analysis of stories the media doesn’t touch.
Topics I most remember were Obama’s campaign, Aurora Planned Parenthood, Phill Kline, campus vandalism by pro-aborts. I visited this blog two…three times a day.
Today, I visit this blog maybe once or twice a week. I just don’t think it’s as good as it used to be.

Cranky,
Five years ago we had some lively and spirited commenters. They kept the place hopping, along with the posts that you speak of.
Today, many of them have moved on. The last time we had a “reunion” of sorts was when news of SOMG’s arrest was posted. Some old-timers came back and it was a trip down memory lane.
We don’t have the all-night online “parties” like we used to. And the pro-choicers that used to hang out here, we don’t hear from them anymore.
That’s just my take.

I remember those days carder!! :) Man. That was fun!
The proaborts could actually follow the rules of commenting and carry on an honest, thoughtful, respectful dialogue!!
sigh

Yep the good old days where the posts would flow over the 300 marker because posting was pretty much unlimited!

Hi Jill. I am mailing in a donation to the Mokena address given on the link above. God bless you.

Hi everyone. I’m not going to donate, but I do wish you success. Civil discourse about difficult issues is rare these days. I’ve a learned a bit here, and hopefully have contributed some too. I’ve missed a lot I guess. Can someone post a link to what happened to SOMG?
Hi Carla.

Carla, I hope everything is going well with you (and that you’ve come around to my side on some issues).

Hi Bobby!!
How’s the math biz? And those babies? All grown up?
My oldest graduated from college and is considering grad school in art therapy. My youngest is making things interesting. But actually doing well.

We had two birthdays the past 3 days, and another one in a couple weeks. The kids are 6.5,5,3, and 1. Things are very busy.
I know, or at least know OF, what you mean about the youngest. The phrase my mother uses for my brother is that he is “finding himself.” It’ll hopefully all work out :)

I missed your third while I was away. Congratulations. I wish all of you the best. There is nothing quite a “busy” as a home with small children. I don’t miss it, but it is a valuable time. As we age, we need a little more peace and quiet.

Wow! I don’t post much, but I remember Hal and Bobby.
And that is exactly what I miss, respectful dialogue. Nowadays there is so much more nastiness and snark among the commenters here on both sides. It also seems that there is very little orignial content here anymore. A lot of dumb celebrity gossip and youtube videos. I don’t visit nearly as much as I used to.

I don’t know if I made it clear, but I actually have 4 kids, Hal!
I remember you too, len. Nice to see you again too!
Actually, while people from the past are showing up, is there someone who posted by teh name of Bee out there? Because I’ve been waiting, at this point, over 5 years to tell Bee something… are you out there, Bee?

Four kids. Even better. :)

Which issues would those be?
Chocolate or vanilla? Chocolate
Roses or carnations? Roses

Carla, good to see we’re on the same page for roses. However, I prefer vanilla. I won’t let such differences tarnish our friendship though.

We can agree to disagree over ice cream flavors.
Has your heart softened to preborn innocent children and their right to life?

Carla, I haven’t really changed my views either. I will say that the biggest “evolution” I experienced from this site is a better understanding that there are many women who really don’t want abortions, but feel that their options are limited by finances, partner pressure, parent pressure, or other factors. We may disagree about the percentages, but your story and others have opened my eyes a bit. I have no doubt it happens, and it certainly isn’t consistent with the “pro choice” point of view.
[I don’t think I was ever so naive to believe it never happened, but through conversations here I now believe it is more of a problem than I had realized.]
I’ll probably disappear again for awhile. Glad to see you and others are still around and fighting the good fight.

You learned that some young mothers regret their abortions that they never wanted in the first place? Well good.
And the regret and grief are lifelong btw.
You didn’t answer my question about children and their right to life but then I didn’t really expect that you would.
Good to see you too Hal. :)

Didn’t mean to dodge you question. I am still in favor of legal abortion.

Yes yes of course of course.
Legal abortion.
The legalized killing of innocent preborn human beings in their mother’s wombs.
Own it already.
