Planned Parenthood CEO’s annual salary now exceeds $500,000

According to Planned Parenthood Federation of America‘s 2012 IRS Form 990, CEO Cecile Richards made over one-half million dollars – $523,616, to be exact – for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2013.
That’s a lot of money to pay the CEO of a nonprofit organization, particularly one that claims to cater to low-income women.
“Planned Parenthood works to make health care accessible and affordable,” boasts Planned Parenthood.
Really? How much more affordable would Planned Parenthood’s services be were not its corporate bosses and affiliate CEOs making big bucks? For that 2012 reporting period, PPFA’s 12-member executive team tallied a combined income of $3.87 million.
When questioned by The Daily Caller in October 2012 about what was thought at the time to be an “almost $400,000 salary,” Richards responded, “None of my salary is paid for by the federal government.”
But if “[n]early half of Planned Parenthood patients rely on Medicaid coverage,” as Planned Parenthood states, does Richards really think she’d be making the same coin were government funding – to the tune of $540.6 million in FY 2012-13 – removed from Planned Parenthood’s total revenue of $1.210 billion?
And actually, The Daily Caller was well over $100,000 off on Richards’ salary.
Turns out Richards made $583,323 during Fiscal Year 2011 (July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012). This represented a whopping 39% pay increase from the year before that, when she “only” made $420,153.
So, actually, Richards’ 2012 salary of $523,616 represented a 10% pay cut.
But this was because she took time off from Planned Parenthood to campaign for President Obama’s reelection – which paid off for Planned Parenthood handsomely via windfall income via Obamacare and other government funding streams, only kept flowing by Obama and other pro-abortion politicians.
This sort of financial cushion then frees up Planned Parenthood to raise and spend money to elect pro-abortion candidates, who then return the favor.
See how the circle of loot works?
And where are the liberals – the Occupy Wall Street types – who supposedly despise such top-heavy income? They oppose Big Oil, Big Pharma, and Big Finance. But Big Abortion? Not on your life, or rather, not on the lives of innocent little babies.

Since the tax payers pay for the family planning portion of the business her salary comes from the abortion revenue stream. How proud she must be.

Graft. It’s how our entire electoral process works these days, politicians are proud to state how they brought their constituents other people’s money, and the people are happy to collect. The whole 1% thing is empty rhetoric, for many of them, the issue is never the issue, the issue is always the revolution, and killing babies and population control help the revolution.

I am not defending her, but isn’t her salary about in line with what CEOs of major nonprofits receive? I remember that Elizabeth Dole was criticized for receiving a huge salary while at the Red Cross, and I believe she was making less than Richards.

Chris, sadly, I used to support the Occupy Movement, but you are right, 90% of them are proabortion.

phillymiss,
Her salary isn’t the point. Well it is. What I mean is Elizabeth Dole didn’t receive a huge salary and allow Red Cross shelters to turn to crap. People in crisis didn’t walk into Red Cross shelters and have to breathe in and walk on feces. They weren’t treated rudely or given misinformation. They didn’t die from negligence. Most non-profits do pay they’re CEOS well because they are excellent fundraisers and tactitians. Cecile Richards is the daughter of Ann Richards and that name recognition and her shrewd business sense is what is propelling Planned Parenthood today.
Sadly as Jill reported here before from information I gave her, FULL TIME employees cannot afford health insurance or even food. Having to receive food stamps as a single mom while working full time for an organization that “fights for women” is humiliating. Cecile Richards wearing Prada pumps while her employees can’t buy shoes is a joke. Cecile is the Marie Antoinette of the family planning movement. Patients and staff eat cake, Cecile eats steak with tax payer dollars. It’s sad.

If I were Cecil Richards…. or someone like her…. leading a $1.2 billion company that relies on a great deal on relationships with government bureaucrats and politicians — despised by a large and devoted group of citizen-activists who have their own politicians opposing me….
I would demand more than a $half-million. At least a million, for me.
Unless I believed with all my heart that my work was vitally essential to the survival of our culture. Then I would do it for a $100,000 (Because that’s what a seasoned professional accountant makes in a small company. My family has to carry on while I’m working.)
Cece’s salary is either too high or too low.
A CEO for a local $12million healthcare company I am familiar with makes around $200,000. Cece is working cheap for blood money.
