Stanek weekend question: Is the abortion battle becoming increasingly “corrosive”?
I have sensed for some time that abortion proponents are becoming increasingly and overtly hostile to pro-life activism.
An immediate example is UCSB Professor Mireille Miller-Young, photo right, who this week pleaded “no contest” to charges that she assaulted a pro-life teenager and stole her sign.
Within the span of days, pro-life activists at Created Equal recently had to endure one abortion proponent’s vulgarity and vandalism and another’s theft (the latter right under the noses of complicit police).
Any pro-life college activist knows that a lack of hostile response to campus displays would be outside the norm these days.
At the same time, particularly following the Supreme Court’s buffer zone decision, pro-life activists seem energized, as evidenced, I think, by events the past few days in New Orleans.
A Canadian journalist this week noted, “In the U.S., the corrosive warfare is increasing.”
Do you agree? If so, why do you think this is? Also, be sure to take the poll…
Demons with a soul are like starving dogs with a bone. They will not release without a furious fight.

Great analogy, Linda, and you are absolutely right.
I got a better sense of that watching the abortion battle in Kansas between Kathleen Sebelius and her minions and Phill Kline. That battle is still ongoing, and they’re trying to beat Phill to a pulp. And that was KANSAS.
Imagine the demonic abortion stronghold in New York, or California, or Illinois.

I think the response from the pro-abortion crowd is definitely becoming more corrosive as pro-life activism becomes more widespread.

So start coming prepared.

Thanks Jill for addressing this. I did post a couple of times already that the spiritual warfare has heated up with the Hobby Lobby case and the other prolife laws that have been passed. We have to fight more spiritual warfare now than ever because the enemy is not going to give up without a fight, we must be even more determined and submitted to Christ. Please be careful (not fearful) Jill and other prolife warriors. We have to be modern day Joshuas and Davids to come against the giants in the land. Read Joshua Chapter 1 especially 1:9 about “being strong and very courageous the Lord your God is with you”. God bless you all prolifers.

The Pro-Life movement has been winning hearts, legislation, and court decisions for a while now. We have reached critical mass as a popular movement, so changes will come faster.
What is new among the pro-aborts?
– Young liberals do not know what tolerance is or how to practice it. They feel entitled to respond with rancor and vandalism and violence to any message that offends them. They are bullies. They see peace as weakness. The more peaceful we are, the more they will try to use force to intimidate.
– Pro-bort agitators have discovered this, and are beginning to exploit it. Their writing and social media encourage bullying tactics.

There is little doubt that such behaviors are increasing, bug whether they are increasing because of pro-lifers is debatable. We might just be obvious targets from people who feel increasing rage toward the banality of their own existence.
I saw a very interesting TED-talk about the lack of unstructured play in the lives of modern children. Traditionally these years were free of adult direction (interference)… examples … no homework, no guided-sports, etc.
The presenter said that such children were immersed in a society and found that they had increased creativity and many traits that helped them be leaders. Maybe such non-proof might just stop the spiral of increased aggression/hostility …. increased independence and isolation.

Between this, your apparent approval of the interruption of a worship service to scream curses at the congregation, and your cackling about blasphemers and fire, I take it you no longer possess your conviction that God has given you the gift of being the servant of Christ Jesus to people who are not pro-life. Did you return the gift, or did God realize that it had been sent to the wrong address?

I was glad to see that Professor face charges. What makes her think she can just walk off with another person’s property? Good for the PL people for pressing charges.
Some people whined that she was more emotional because she was pregnant. Oh yes, the helpless pregnant damsel. Well if the lady is pregnant maybe she should exercise a little more control and better judgment and not get herself into confrontational situations where she or her child could be injured. She might also set a better example to her students.
Hopefully in the future, when people are demonstrating or carrying signs, she will call campus security, who I’m sure she has on speed dial, if she has any concerns or questions, rather than taking it upon herself to play cop.

Honestly, it’s been a pretty vicious fight for as long as it has been going on. I don’t really see that any recent events where worse than those of the past.

If there is an increase in choicer attacks…and I doubt that there is…it is only because there are more prolifers doing “public square” activism these days.

Those of us who were socially aware in the early 70’s, and prolife, have seen the cycle of violence against prolifers and observed what escalates the violence. It is definitely demonic manifestation, as we are all aware. Is the violence worse now? No, it was bad in the 70’s and 80’s as clinic blockades were going on and prolifers who were kneeling in prayer were being hit and spit upon, etc. without police protection and oftentimes with police looking on. And also being arrested by the hundreds. There is video/film evidence of this. I do think because there are MORE of us (way more, in fact) now making the prolife presence known by praying at clinics, mass participation in commemorative walks and with pictorial displays on many college campuses, that the kingdom of darkness is very aware of the threat we are to their blood sacrifices, and that is why the frequency of violence against prolifers is on the increase. After “the howling” in Texas last year the demonic manifestations have seemed to take on a more intimidating feature and those individuals under this influence seem to have less self-control. We may find ourselves in the very near future binding and losing on a regular basis during these types of confrontations – “let the reader understand.”
