Pro-life photos of the week: Pregnancy care center sign beats Planned Parenthood wall

The Catholic Globe reported on an interesting competition in Iowa:
Location was a huge factor for Mary’s Choice, a pro-life pregnancy resource center in Sioux City as it is next to Planned Parenthood, because it could be seen by those entering the facility.
According to Sherill Glassmaker, director of Mary’s Choice, when Planned Parenthood erected a tall wooden wall, visibility of the pro-life center was impacted.
“We had a sign on the side of our building and people would pull into Planned Parenthood. A lot of times people would call from the parking lot and they would hop over the wall,” she explained. A shorter concrete wall had originally separated the two centers.
Here is a “before” photo…
After the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic erected the wall to hide access to the other choice, Sherill told me when we spoke by phone yesterday that they thought to erect a sign, but such a move would be in the distant future, since it was a big expense – $50,000. But, back to The Catholic Globe:
“Then one of the local businessmen contacted me in December of 2013 and on his own, he had ideas and plans made up,” she said. “This had tugged at his heart. Every time he drove by and saw the wall, he felt he had to do something. He felt the Holy Spirit was calling him to spearhead the possibility of putting up a big sign.”
Thanks to that volunteer who did much of the legwork, an electronic sign that emerges above the wall of Planned Parenthood went up at Mary’s Choice in July.
“The sign is as big as it can be because the size is based on how much frontage you have and it is as far to the street as it can get,” said Glassmaker, who said the sign was paid for partially through fund-raising and partially out of the center’s budget. “If they go higher with the fence, the sign is designed that it can go higher. It’s on a telescopic pole.”
Until the sign was in place, she acknowledged, she had no idea how beneficial a sign like that would be.
A simple software computer program allows Mary’s Choice to put various messages and images on the sign.
“The visibility is huge,” Glassmaker said, “especially if they are going in on abortion day and they see a sign that says, ‘Choose life’ or ‘Pregnant? We can help.’”
Great story, eh? Thanks to Dawn at Mary’s Choice for sending me photos that all simply make me smile! Here are a couple more:
The sign and it’s designer/facilitator are awesome.
The fact that it’s on a telescopic pole makes it pure GENIUS !

The pro aborts are so upset about the pregnancy resource centers that they even sell bumper stickers decrying them. I have one for them: DON’T LIKE CPC’s — DON’T GO TO ONE!

The tall wooden fence might not be permitted under zoning rules. The height of the fence should also be challenged under “restraint of trade” laws.

Sorry but the female dogs support choice is over the top. What would a dog know about abortion? Also they abort baby puppies. I bet that gets the liberals up in arms! We cant kill dogs but lets keep killing children. I might get stoned for this comment but here goes….I cant stand people who treat their animals like children. They are pets not kids. I saw a lady at a festival last weekend pushing a dog in a zip up stroller. The dog has a dress and a bonnet on. Im against animal cruelty but some people seem to value the life of an animal over a human. To me thats just wrong.

Heather…I hear ya.
A woman I know is a major animal lover/rescuer, (which is fine and admirable) but she’s borderline weird about it. It all made perfect sense to me a few years ago when we were talking and she told me she’s had 5 abortions.

While I can’t say I “hate” it I do think its bizarre when people treat animals like humans. I saw a woman share an ice cream cone with a dog once and I felt kind of sick. I do like dogs but let’s face it — they aren’t the cleanest animals. They lick their behinds and genitals and you’re going to share food with them? That’s just plain nasty.

And definatly not ALL but Mike many women who are childless tend to gravitate to an animal. My old friend is in her later 50s and has 5 cats that she and her bf share. I even took care of the cats while they took a trip to San Francisco. They have a nice place but there was cat hair everywhere. This woman has told me ( shes had 2 abortions ) “My cats are my kids.” Ive always kinda believed that its the ” animals wont hurt me like humans can.” Mentality. Also PETA is filled with extremists. I would never support those fanatics.

I was reading that PETA big wig Pam Anderson sold her dodge viper and donated the proceeds to PETA. Id also read that she had a few choice words for Jessica Simpson who wore a T shirt that said “Real women eat meat” Pams fangs came out. Pam was quoted ” Not eating meat is great for your body.” And an anonymous commenter retaliated by saying ” But tons of silicone in your chest is”? Her massive double G breast implants. Dont like meat? Dont eat it but dont expect ppl to stop!!

And sorry to say but ik ppl who detest animals. I dont like it when I go to someones house and allow their big slobbering mutt to jump on me. And I do not like someones cat trotting over my lap and getting hair on me. Granted Ive had all kinds of pets in the past but they are pets. I cried my heart out when my dog was hit and killed by a car in front of my house. My kind hearted father told the driver it wasnt his fault. He apologized n dad said ” Accidents happen dont feel bad.” My dad put the dog in a box and we buried him the next day in the back yard. Closure came but I did love that lil dog. I dont own a pet right now. I just dont want one.

Above post should say when owners allow their pets. Many are responsible and put the animal in the back yard or cage when company comes. I also dont like going to someones house for dinner and have the dog sitting there waiting for me to feed it. A friend of mine had a really big dog and it would keep jumping on me over and over again almost knocking me over. Plus the dog slobbered a lot. When dinner was finished the wife would use the dishes we had just eaten on and feed the dog table food. Even yogert. It grossed me out and I havent been back.

I once read some advice column where a woman bought her dog to a wedding reception, uninvited! The dog was sniffing everyone, begging, etc. When the bride told her that she could stay, both left and the friendship was over! Its the bride’s day. I didnt like my daughters wedding gown or color scheme but it wasn’t my place to say. Everything turned out beautifully though!

Phillymiss that is very strange! I would have been angry. And indeed that friendship would have been over ( by my doing.) And as Mike said….some people do get boderline weird about animals. Like ppl who own 30 cats. No thanks id decline a wiff of that house. I also know another childless woman but she is not pro abortion. Thank God for that! However she has a beautiful condo with snow white carpet. The cat and dogs have destroyed the carpet bu urinating all over it. She uses a rug scrubber but they just keep using her carpet as a toilet. yuk. However the majority of people who own animals are responsible. If youre having company and you know they claw and jumps and whines for table food then put them out back or in a cage until company leaves. Because just like some people dont like children some arent as in love with your animals. It should be a no brainer. I never allowed my animals to bother my guests.

Sorry about my typos…just came in from work. Tired. Bottom line…i do not hate animals and people who have pets and take care of them God bless. But they arent people and they shouldnt be treated like kids. They also should not be able to take over peoples homes.
