Lesbians sue sperm bank over accidentally mixed-race baby

On August 21, 2012, Jennifer gave birth to Payton, a beautiful, obviously mixed-race baby girl.
Jennifer bonded with Payton easily and she and Amanda love her very much. Even so, Jennifer lives each day with fears, anxieties, and uncertainty about her future and Payton’s future….
Though compelled to repress her individuality amongst family members, Payton’s differences are irrepressible, and Jennifer does not want Payton to feel stigmatized or unrecognized due simply to the circumstances of her birth.

Jill Stanek is a nurse turned speaker, columnist and blogger, a national figure in the effort to protect both preborn and postborn innocent human life.
Ugh. They’re suing for “wrongful birth and breach of warranty”, two phrases that should have no place regarding a precious human life. But babies are just merchandise now, something to be ordered from the catalog. So, so wrong.
So… let me see if I have this correct: She’s afraid that her daughter will be more stigmatized because she is of mixed-race than because she’s being raised by lesbians??
This is just weird.
Maybe women should actually meet the father of their children face to face. I know, what a crazy idea!
So much disorder for that poor, innocent child.
Being of mixed race is not unnatural, but the artificially inseminated lesbian mother’s litigatious racism is making that a problem too.
Seriously, the more I think about this, the more puzzled I am.
Someone please help me understand why this woman thinks being of mixed-race still carries a significant stigma today. If you live in an area where a mixed-race child gets as many stares as a gay couple holding hands, you just might need to MOVE.
In a world that seems to not even bat an eye – or even approves – of her relationship with her partner, she thinks that this beautiful girl will be an outcast? Or is it just her family that are the racists? And yet they’re fine and dandy that she’s a lesbian… as long as that lesbian partner is a white woman??
Yep, still confused.
People are accustomed to brown babies and “plaid” families. No big deal.
Two mommies is much more uncommon, and a significant hurdle for a child.
The lawsuit itself is putting a price on a kid who’s supposed to be priceless. It seems more leftie-like to get worked up about race, and to monetize humans.
There should be no such thing as a “wrongful birth” suit b/c there is no such thing as a wrongful birth. And while this is certainly a breach of contract, she should still lose b/c sperm banks shouldn’t be allowed to be in business period. If you’re going to make a deal with the devil as they say. I echo all the comments above as well regarding the “stigma” of mixed race children vs. children of lesbians. The whole things is bull from start to finish. People adopt children of other races all the time and manage not to live in a constant state of fear and anxiety.

I get tired of hearing about how special gays are. They are no better or no worse than anyone else. I’ve met gay people who were real jerks and even a few who were (horrors) racist.

Come on, Man… :P You probably don’t think that abortion clinics should be in business, either, so you going to say that anybody that sues them should lose? ;)
I’m bummed out because Dunkin Donuts no longer bakes them fresh at the stores, they get them trucked in from a big factory-type bakery, so we should sue them.

Sounds like the left coast. I’m originally from the San Francisco bay area. At the age of 29, I moved to Oklahoma. Until I moved to OK, I had seen one, count ’em one, black/white mix race family in my life. As far to the left as central CA is, mixed marriages other than white/Asian are incredibly uncommon and do elicit stares. Bracing children are pummeled with “helpful” commiseration over the “difficulties” of their “condition”. However, no one bats an eye at homosexuals couples. I lost friends when I got engaged because they had hopped I’d see the light and find someone female.
It so much better in OK, where biracial families are very common. People are just happen to see kids around.
Rachel, many of these “lefty” places aren’t as liberal as they say they are. I visited SF and was shocked at how marginalized the AA community is there. There are a few wealthy black people but most are poor and struggling. Also this city has got to have the most UNFRIENDLY residents on earth! Unfortunately racism is all over but I get tired of people acting like only white Southerners are racist. Philadelphia is the farthest south I’ve ever lived and I have faced plenty of racism here. NYC, like Philly, is one of the most segregated cities in the country. Interestingly All of the most segregated cities, with the exception of Los Angeles and Miami, are in the Midwest or North. The most integrated is the Houston metropolitan area.

Good point, although I think abortionists should be in jail not just in civil court. I guess I wouldn’t mind the sperm bank losing (and legally they should lose), but I just hate to see people like this profit.
LOL, are they afraid that the “obviously mixed-race” child is going to tip people off to the fact the two white mothers are not both the biological parents?
Hmmm. Now lets see they biologically, anatomically, physiologically, genetically, chromosomally and reproductively could not conceive a child between the two of them because they both have female reproductive systems that are not sexually complimentary (i.e. no sperm). So they bought a male’s sperm from a sperm bank because they are “owed” a baby if they want one since they want to be like sexually complementary couples who can produce a baby, but the sperm bank gave them an “oops” bi-racial baby instead and that was not what they wanted or ordered from the catalog. They wanted a “white” baby since they are both “white” even if they could not produce one (which everyone would know is impossible anyway) but they think it looks “bad” that the baby is obviously “black” instead of “white” like the two of them so now they want to sue the sperm bank. So what you have here a white lesbian couple who wants everyone to embrace their lifestyle in the name of “diversity” and “equality” but they really do not want this bi-racial baby. Why? Because they are actually “racist”.
For those who think this is just a fluke. I saw a story recently of a lesbian couple who wanted “their” baby aborted because the baby tested positive for Downs Syndrome and that was not what they “ordered”. For those who thought “marriage equality” meant only couples wanting man-man or woman-woman “marriage”, the new pitch
at “professional” conferences and seminars on “diversity” and “inclusiveness” is that you must embrace polygamous, multiple partner relationships, transgender genital mutilation of men and women and any other LGBTQ redefinition of “family” or “lifestyle” imaginable or you are considered “bigoted” and “close-minded” (btw tolerance is now considered demeaning and insulting).
God help the nation and the world and this poor little girl who will one day find out her origins. Every child comes from a father and a mother and wants to know and identify with their parents (I know sometimes it is not possible or safe for this to happen). Even children like my husband who was abandoned by his deadbeat father, longed to know his father, it caused him much heartache growing up.
I am sick of the gays and lesbians whining. Keep your sex life to yourself. And SHUT UP! I dont parade around the street saying I sleep with men! Read Romans. Accept them?? Never!

In this instance ‘sire’ would be a more appropriate descriptor for the sperm donor.

In this case meeting ‘face to face’ with the sperm receptor might make it impossible for the donor to deliver the goods.

Perfectly said. I wonder how that child is going to feel when she learns about that lawsuit — that her parents really didn’t want her. I would think that would create some SERIOUS issues. If they are really so upset JUST CALL ME. I’ll take that beautiful child. I love children period — white, black, yellow, handicapped, mixed whatever! If I wasn’t so old, decrepit, and poor I would try to adopt.
I agree phillymiss. What an absolute mess this is. Selfish, elitist, and racist and they call prolifers “”uneducated” and “non-progressive”. God help us. and “Wrongful birth” my eye and how is this child going to feel when she hears this. More disposable babies in the womb and out of the womb.
