Pro-life/family petition drives to keep Duggars on air quickly overwhelm homosexual petition
On August 20, homosexual activists launched a petition drive to get the Duggar family’s 19 Kids and Counting show kicked off TLC. The Duggars are open about their Biblical view that marriage should be between one man and one woman.
The homosexual campaign was slow going until the Duggars removed a photo of two men kissing from their Facebook page on November 11, this after encouraging married couples to post pictures of themselves kissing.
At this point homosexuals kicked their campaign into high gear, garnering attention from such media outlets as E! Online, People, Huffington Post, and Washington Post. Their petition drive has 160,757* signatures at present.
But pro-lifers and pro-family activists have responded with gusto.
After just three days, a LifeSiteNews.com petition, also supported by the Benham brothers and Steven Crowder, had surpassed the homosexual petition drive with 171,355* signatures as of this writing.
But there are also two other petition drives underway with the same purpose, and they, too, have received loads of support in a very short time. A new LifeNews.com petition already has 28,554* signatures, and yet another petition supported on a Michelle Duggar Facebook fan page has 53,571* signatures. Yet another pro-Duggar petition, this one sponsored by Personhood USA, has 22,256* signatures at present.
At this point, after only three days, pro-life and pro-family supporters have amassed over 275,736 signatures in support of the Duggars – almost double the number accumulated by homosexual activists in three months!
If you haven’t signed a petition, please do. Hey, sign them all! It’s the Obama-supported Chicago Way!
UPDATE, 5:20p: *Numbers have all been adjusted to current time. Also, LifeSiteNews.com reported this afternoon it singlehandedly blew past the homosexual petition, again, after only 3 days.

While I am no fan of the Duggar parents, I am even less a fan of these gestapo tactics. I am glad to hear of the success in defeating their efforts and hope it continues.

This just seems like asking to be offended.

I don’t agree with the Duggars, but TLC wouldn’t have any reality shows left if they cancelled them every time one of their stars said something offensive.

You know what she said? She said that men could use the new law (allowing trans folks to use restrooms) to pretend to be women and go in and molest young girls. Which is TRUE.
But gay folks started whining “How dare you accuse us of pedophilia!!!!” which isn’t what she said. She said pedophiles could use the law to their advantage.
We know that pedophiles exist in both hetero and homo communities. A law allowing a man to use the women’s restroom would make our daughters unsafe. This is just common sense but common sense is the enemy of political correctness so it must be stamped out.

We love the show and the Duggars, not too many good shows on anymore! We love the other families they interduce us too. It’s either sex, murder, cussing or immoral acts on TV now. Good clean shows are being run off the air by satanic people. LOVE YOU Michelle and Jim Bob and ALL the kids…God Bless You.

May the lies get exposed and the hypocritical gay agenda be defeated!!! – what are the lies and why is any ‘agenda’ hypocritical?
She said that men could use the new law to…..go in and molest young girls. Which is TRUE. But gay folks started whining “How dare you accuse us of pedophilia!!!!” which isn’t what she said. – since when did adults molesting young girls become not-pedophilia?

Sydney – your explanation was flawless.
Reality – that is pedophilia, but as noted, the accusation was not that trans people are necessarily pedophiles (though some are), but that in reality all men (including pedophiles) will be able to exploit this. This is the exact transcript of what sparked the controversy:
“Hello, this is Michelle Duggar. I’m calling to inform you of some shocking news that would affect the safety of Northwest Arkansas women and children. The Fayetteville City Council is voting on an ordinance this Tuesday night that would allow men – yes, I said men – to use women’s and girls’ restrooms, locker rooms, showers, sleeping areas and other areas that are designated for females only. I don’t believe the citizens of Fayetteville would want males with past child predator convictions that claim they are female to have a legal right to enter private areas that are reserved for women and girls. I doubt that Fayetteville parents would stand for a law that would endanger their daughters or allow them to be traumatized by a man joining them in their private space. We should never place the preference of an adult over the safety and innocence of a child. Parents, who do you want undressing next to your daughter at the public swimming pool’s private changing area?”

Reality–she didn’t say GAY people would use this law to molest kids. She said pedophiles could use this law to gain access to young girls in the restrooms. Do you really not understand this? Meaning–a straight pedophile could dress up as a woman, claim he is trans, insist on using the restroom and molest young girls. That is what Michelle said.
Men should not be in the women’s restroom. Anyone with male DNA should not be there. Period.

The Duggars are one of the few decent ,worthwhile pro-family, TRUE pro life Christian families produced & seen outside the U.S .I am amazed that they are so enduring & popular. They actually give me some hope for America. Americans even on this supposedly pro-life page are deriding them, for what? Being a bit TOO pro life for you? Having such a large number of beautiful children successfully & raising them well?. I expect their show will be stamped out soon enough. I’m off to sign petitions now.

I stand corrected, thank you CT and Sydney M. :-)
Mind you, it wouldn’t be the first time anti-gay folk made such a claim would it ;-)

Amen, Sydney. I would seriously watch and worry about any man that doesn’t wholeheartedly agree with your statement.

Is TLC still pixalating the above Stand True prolife tshirts on the show?

Those homosexual activists are getting upset over nothing. If you don’t want to watch the show, just turn the channel. I don’t watch it myself, but I will give a thumbs up to the Duggars for speaking the truth.

Gestapo? Looks like the gay rights activists started a petition. Hardly gestapo. People have the right to protest things they don’t like. And the pro-Duggar crowd came back with a bigger petition and the show was never in danger of being taken off the air. Yay for both sides getting to express how they feel about it.
Seems like a bunch of whining from everyone involved. I don’t see why anyone cares whether the Duggars take down pictures of gay people or not. They’ve made their views on gay people perfectly clear in the past, I don’t think anyone doesn’t know how they feel about them. You can’t make them want to accept gays, so just vote with your pocket book and don’t watch their boring show. And the dramatic “censorship!!!” screams from the right are boring too, no one was being censored and the gay rights activists didn’t do anything wrong (just silly). The whole thing is dumb.

Deluded Lib Pro-Life, you must have a different definition of “censorship” than most people do. If you try to get a book removed from the library, most would call it censorship. If you try to get a television show removed from the airwaves, most would call it censorship. If you simply don’t read the book or watch the show, that is not censorship. But that is not what the gay activists were content to do. They were attempting to get the show censored.

So taking down the picture of the gay couple was not censorship or it was? Seems like both sides are expressing their opinions about what is moral and right.
And like I said, I think the petition to remove the show was silly. I also think the whining about censorship was silly. TLC is a private company, if they don’t like backlash they could remove the show if they please, just like the Duggars can remove a photo of a gay couple kissing from their Facebook page if they want. Who cares? I only really care if the government thinks it can censor things, not private parties and companies. That’s why I think the whining about censorship is ridiculous.

DLPL,
By gestapo tactics I refer to demanding a show be taken off the air because people express an opinion you don’t like. In my book these are gestapo tactics. Good grief there are far more offensive things on TV, but the response is no one forces you to watch it. Fine. No one forces the gay community to watch the Duggars.

Yes, “censorship” doesn’t seem like the right word, because a petition is only important if someone in actual power can reasonably be expected to read and care. In an ideal world, TLC would ignore everything connected to this non-issue. The fact that both sides look pretty stupid here doesn’t help anyone.
(Agree with your last comment too, Mary.)
