It’s rarely a straightforward pro-choice or pro-life anthem. The best songs that take on the subject explore the painful decision. But subtle or direct, be warned. These aren’t songs for your commute if you’re not into public crying.

Jill Stanek is a nurse turned speaker, columnist and blogger, a national figure in the effort to protect both preborn and postborn innocent human life.
I guarantee her song is about an abortion experience. The article linked talks about another song of hers, and it goes into more (heartbreaking) detail.
Stevie Nicks’s song “Sarah” is not on the list.

Jimi Hendrix “Belly Button Window”
Very surprised that neither Brick by Ben Folds, or Freshmen by The Verve Pipe is on this list. Both are pretty well-known, and well known to be about abortion. They both have very poetic lyrics, too.
“My best friend took a week’s vacation to forget her

And now he’s guilt-stricken, sobbing with his head on the floor

“Driving back to her apartment

The lyrics of both those songs haunted me well before I knew they were about abortion, and then after I knew they were but well before I’d admit abortion was wrong. There’s something undeniable about them.
