The little Italian abortion survivor, glimpsing an epidemic

I was out-of-pocket all day yesterday but read on my phone about the 22-week-old baby boy who survived his abortion for 2 days in Italy. The story was heartbreaking, more so because I know without a doubt babies his age are surviving their abortions every day across America and getting similar treatment. I would even venture to say this is a worldwide epidemic.

For instance, only last week I spoke at length after a pro-life event with an L&D RN who told me babies survive their abortions at her hospital, and doctors pressure nurses to give them 0-0 APGAR scores, in other words, chart that the babies were born dead when they were not. I could only urge the nurse to take action. There was nothing more I could do.

We have a Born Alive Infants Protection Act that is not being enforced, incredibly frustrating and painful.

Media Matters: Obama's infanticide support? "Fevered dreams" of Stanek/Limbaugh

Alan Keyes to get arrested at Notre Dame today, 11:30a

Apparently my complaint against Randall Terry just egged him on. A news release just out:

Dr. Alan Keyes and 20 pro-lifers will walk on to Notre Dame's campus at 11:30a [EST], Friday, May 08, with baby strollers carrying baby dolls covered in "stage blood" to protest the invitation of Notre Dame to President Obama to deliver the commencement address at this year's graduation.

alan keyes 2.jpg

On May 7, Dr. Keyes was unexpectedly approached at a press conference on public property by 2 plain clothes Notre Dame policemen and told if he walks on Notre Dame's campus for any reason, he will be arrested.

Dr. Keyes was shocked. He stated: "I have not even stepped foot on the campus, and they give me this warning? They told me: 'We are just doing our job.' I told them I am just coming to witness for the truth."...

Bishop investigates Catholic hospital for induced labor abortions

About St. Joseph's Health Centre in London, Ontario, LifeSiteNews.com reported March 5:

A LifeSiteNews.com exposé on the practice of "early inductions" on babies with lethal fetal anomaly at a Catholic hospital has resulted in the matter being reviewed by the Vatican....

fabrro.jpg

London Bishop Ronald Fabbro... informed LSN that he has launched an investigation.... The matter has also been referred to the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith.

The procedure - "early induction" of unborn babies with "lethal fetal anomalies" - refers to artificially causing the child to be born prematurely at 21-24 weeks - earlier than any child could survive without extreme medical intervention....

In 2004 I began reporting (read here and here) on 2 US Catholic hospital systems committing induced labor abortion: Providence on the west coast and Loyola in Chicago.

Loyola sent me its policy, which stated...

Yet another toilet abortion attempt

I'm thinking there needs to be a new official abortion classification: Toilet Abortions. Recall I reported one just the other day as well as closely related Shower Abortions.

But there is no correlation between wanton legalized abortion and infanticide of children being born. No. As friend Sandy noted, the parents of this girl must have been conservative. That explains it. Note this baby was left in the care of the mother who tried to kill her and who had apparently murdered the baby's sibling. Reported Fox News March 2:

Authorities investigating a teacher's aide accused of trying to drown her newborn girl in a toilet have found the decomposed remains of another infant at her southern IL home.

elyse.jpg

The remains apparently had been at Elyse Mamino's home in the St. Louis suburb of Belleville for more than a year.... No charges in the child's death had been filed as of Monday.

Mamino, 23, was arrested last week and charged with attempted first-degree murder. Authorities allege that in November, she was at a house party in nearby Columbia when she gave birth in a bathroom and tried to drown the baby....

Hialeah copycat

Recalling the July 2006 story of the abortion survivor zipped moving and breathing into a biohazard bag at a Hialeah, FL, abortion mill, read this from Fox News, February 27:

A University of AZ sophomore was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and child abuse, Wednesday, after she gave birth to an infant in a communal university shower hall and then placed the child in a plastic bag....

sarah tatum.jpg

Sarah Tatum, 19, who allegedly hid her pregnancy from the other students in her dorm, telling them that she had been gaining weight due to a thyroid problem, was discovered by two of her hallmates in the shower hall... with a bag of what they thought were bloody clothes....

When the pair looked more closely at the bag, however, they realized that it was moving and that Tatum had placed her child inside.

"The plastic bag was the kind with the draw string on top," said Jaime Perez, a... freshman, who... is a close friend of one of the hallmates who found Tatum. "She tied the bag so tight that the policeman had to cut it with a knife."

Added the AZ Daily Wildcat today...

O'Reilly compares Obama's infanticide vote to anti-chimp vote

Last night Bill O'Reilly interviewed UT Congressman Rob Bishop, who opposes legislation to make it illegal to sell or transport a pet chimp across state lines.

O'Reilly compared opposition of this bill to Barack Obama's infamous opposition to another bill back in the day...

"The law doesn't solve the problem," Bishop stated. "The intelligent thing would be to say that no one can have a pet primate, but this law deals with interstate transportation and trade. If you're trying to stop monkeys from attacking people, then ban the concept of pet monkeys."...

Update on Hialeah abortion clinic baby murder case

UPDATE, 11:05a: Read Operation Rescue's statement condemning Katherine Rundle's response to FL legislators. It makes very good points.
_______________

I reported last week that members of the FL House of Representatives sent a letter to Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Rundle urging her to prosecute the July 2006 murderer(s) of baby Shanice Williams.

renelique gonzalez.jpgShanice was allegedly zipped, moving and breathing, into a biohazard bag in the now defunct A Gyn Diagnostics abortion mill by owner Belkis Gonzalez after she survived her late-term abortion. Gonzalez still operates 2 other Miami area mills. She is pictured on the far right, with Shanice's abortionist, Pierre Renelique, to her left. The FL Board of Medicine revoked his license February 6.

FL pro-lifer Ed Brophy sent me a photo copy of this letter and Rundle's quick response....

Hunter Michael

I've met mothers who didn't understand they were aborting their late-term sick babies. Medical staff coded language by calling it "early induction of labor," etc.

Here's a tragic story of a mother who went through the induced labor abortion procedure, and her baby survived for a time. This dear mother didn't understand what had happened until years later, when reading my testimony. She has given me permission to share her story...

balloon.jpg

In 1995 I was told just before my 6-month mark that my son had multi-cystic dysplastic kidneys. They said it was a terminal disease and that I needed to abort. I refused, and they said I could die if I didn't abort. I still refused, and I finally agreed to give birth normally if they promised to try and save him. They said I had to hurry because it would be illegal in 5 more days because I'd be over the term limit.

They said they would, and I gave birth...but it was horrible. I was 20, didn't know much...they didn't tell me what to expect. I was alone in the room, and felt like I needed to use the bathroom. While I was in there, my water finally broke. They had drugged me up pretty well and dismissed my concerns about what it would do to the baby....

UPDATE, 2/20, 1p: I've received confirmation that Miami-Dade State Attorney Kathleen Rundle has received a letter from the FL House Republicans (ee page 2) calling on her to prosecute the Baby Shanice murder case.
_______________

I called and spoke to Janet. I asked for Rundle,at 305-547-0535 Naturally Rundle and her Secretary, Ed Griffiths were out of the office so Janet asked if I would like to leave a messge and so I said yes, but first I needed to know if Rundle received the letter from the FL House of Reps. Janet said she didn't know and so I said, "I'll hold while you check on that." Then she asked me my name again and I gave it to her. Janet came back and said she received the letter, so what is my message.

Jivin J drew attention to this story yesterday in The Weston Mercury, which will sound familiar to those following 22Weeks:

A mum who had to abort her baby son because he could have been left profoundly disabled by her medication blames doctors for failing to spot that she was pregnant....

katie hartley.jpg

The 24-year-old says she would have stopped taking the tablets immediately and dealt with any pain cause by her illness another way if she had known she was carrying her 'beautiful' son.

Instead she had to give birth to her him on a commode and he died in her arms just four minutes later.

About a week ago the Worle mum had been told it was too late for a straight-forward termination. So, on Friday she took a tablet to stop her baby's heartbeat so she could deliver her dead child on Monday.

But the tablet did not work and Katie then had no choice but to deliver the 17-week-old foetus alive....

22 Weeks screenings

UPDATE, 10/28, 7:40a: WorldNetDaily.com has more info on 22 Weeks, including the fact a screening before Congress is planned January 22, 2009, the 36th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision.
_______________

I began writing about the death of Baby Rowan soon after it happened in 2005, having received a call from his distraught mother, who had an instant change of heart when seeing her baby.

He was aborted in an Orlando, FL, abortion clinic toilet and survived for several minutes. The Born Alive Infants Protection Act should have protected him but didn't. State and federal prosecutors failed him. Clinic workers went so far as to turn away EMTs at the mill door who the mother had called to help her baby.

Now a short movie has been made of that tragedy, 22 Weeks. Here's the trailer...

I've previewed 22 Weeks. It is excellently directed and acted and is a devastating story to watch, particularly when knowing it really happened.

22 Weeks will be screened twice in the coming days...

Time magazine's Scherer 3x blind

On September 25, Time magazine's Michael Scherer wrote in a web article entitled, "Smear Wars: Welcome to negative ad season," which was included in the October 6 print edition:

BornAliveTruth.org has been advertising in swing states with the misleading claim that Obama supports the death of fetuses born after failed abortions. (Obama opposed an IL senate bill he said could have jeopardized other abortion statutes; at the time, IL law required doctors to save the lives of all viable fetuses after birth.)

He followed it up with a September 29 MSNBC appearance stating:

So the Born Alive Truth ad, it is true that Obama when he was in the State House in IL opposed a bill that would have declared a human person those fetuses who survived an abortion. What's not true is that it somehow meant he supported infanticide. At the time it was very clear under IL state law that any viable fetus who survived abortion had to be saved by the doctors during the procedure.

I appreciate that Scherer took my call after the first article was posted, and I note he avoided calling abortion survivors fetuses in his third botch. But botch he threepeated....

"The Obama debate every American should see"

By Terrence Jeffrey in today's Townhall.com, an excellent, clarifying commentary:

The most telling debate Barack Obama ever had was not with John McCain but Patrick O'Malley, who served with Obama in the IL Senate and engaged Obama in a colloquy every American should read.

obama debate.jpg

The Obama-O'Malley debate was a defining moment for Obama because it dealt with such a fundamental issue: The state's duty to protect the civil rights of the young and disabled....

Then-IL state Sen. Patrick O'Malley, whom I interviewed this week, contacted the state attorney general's office to see whether existing laws protected a newborn abortion-survivor's rights as a U.S. citizen. He was told they did not....

But as a state senator, Obama repeatedly voted against that requirement and other restrictions on what opponents label "born alive" abortions. Obama says he opposed it only because of technical language that might have interfered with a woman's right to choose....

    Obama's "fact sheet" changes

On August 14 the Chicago Tribune's Eric Zorn published a refutation from the Obama campaign to the charge he did indeed oppose identical legislation as state senator to legislation passed overwhelmingly on the national level and deemed unobstrusive on abortion by NARAL.

The Obama team's protest including a chart it stated showed the "FACT: There are MAJOR differences in state and federal bills, including the fact that the federal bill included a 'Neutrality Clause'":

    slide 1 fact sheet.JPG

Yesterday the Obama campaign released a new "fact sheet" with a critical change in the chart, and an admission Obama opposed the amended Born Alive bill, which was now identical to the federal version.

    slide 2 fact sheet2.jpg

One added point. Note the heading, "Language Clearly Threatening Roe."

"Clearly threatening Roe"? Then explain this, Senator Obama. Even before the hyped "neutrality clause" was added, the U.S. House voted 380-15 in September 2000 for this version, you know, the one "clearly threatening Roe." Leading pro-abort Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) stated at the time, according to World magazine:

The purpose of this bill is only to get the pro-choice members to vote against it so they can slander us and say we are for infanticide. That's why I voted for it in committee, and that's why we will vote for it on the floor.

    Obama just wasn't so smart.

Hannity, Colmes, Coulter, panel debate Obama's Born Alive opposition

On August 18, the exchange between sides became heated on Hannity and Colmes on the topic of Barack Obama's opposition as state senator to the IL Born Alive Infants Protection Act.

The argument centered on whether Obama opposed the identical language that 98 of his U.S. Senate colleagues supported and that even NARAL went neutral on.

Colmes continued to assert the answer was no, even though there is proof the answer is yes. I had it confirmed last night that Colmes' people have been given the documentation. Let's see what he does with it.

    Ann Coulter was fabulous...

NRO: Ramesh Ponnuru gets it right on Obama spin

From National Review Online, August 20:

    Thumbnail image for ramesh.jpg

Bereft of an argument, the Obama campaign is pounding the table.

The recent attacks on Senator Obama that allege he would allow babies born alive to die are outrageous lies. The suggestion that Obama - the proud father of two little girls - and others who opposed these bills supported infanticide is deeply offensive and insulting.* There is no room for these kinds of distortions and lies in this campaign.

Note, first, that Obama's comment about lies over the weekend referred to the National Right to Life Committee. Yet the campaign has not made a single specific allegation that any of the NRLC's statements are inaccurate, let alone dishonest. The campaign claims only that the NRLC has left out some context that exonerates Obama....

Obama continues to misrepresent Born Alive vote

No Sunday funny today. There's nothing funny about Barack Obama's bold-faced lie to CBN's David Brody last night after the Saddleback Showdown, when he continued to maintain he did not vote against an identical bill as IL state senator to the federal Born Alive Infants Protection Act:

Obama was obviously aware of the evidence provided last week by National Right to Life when making the statement. He not only continued to deny his vote in the face of 2 pieces of documentation showing otherwise but called the messenger a liar.

Again, here is Obama's March 13, 2003, vote in the IL State Senate Health & Human Services Committee, which anyone could obtain from the IL General Assembly archive (click to enlarge):

    Thumbnail image for final vote.jpg

"DP#1" means "Do Pass Amendment #1." "DPA" means "Do Pass as Amended."

Here is the original bill. Here is Amendment #1. Here is the federal Born Alive Infants Protection Act.

Obama first voted in favor of Amendment #1 and then voted against the Born Alive bill as amended. It couldn't be more clear. Furthermore, here is the Republican Senate Staff Analysis from that day, expressing the same understanding of the chain of events:

On July 20, 2006, a baby was allegedly aborted alive at A Gyn Diagnostic Center in Hialeah, FL.

At least 2 witnesses saw clinic owner Belkis Gonzalez (pictured below left) cut the potentially viable (~23 weeks gestation) baby's cord and put the baby in a biohazard bag with bleach inside.

An anonymous caller tipped off police, who searched the scene but could not find the dead baby. Nine days later the source called again, saying workers put the baby on the mill's roof before the search but had now retrieved it. Police recovered the decomposed baby. The DNA matched her mother's.

belkis.bmpThe Miami-Dade medical examiner, however, ruled the death "natural," due to "extreme prematurity," since no one could know exactly why she died. (This showed gross prejudice. If someone put a plastic bag with bleach inside over the head of a 94-year-old woman who was dying anyway, would the bagger still not be credited with murder?)

The mother, who experienced a change of heart at her baby's delivery, hired the Thomas More Society, a pro-life law firm, to pursue a civil case. After a long delay, prosecutors handed the baby over for a 2nd autopsy.

This brings us 2 pieces of breaking news....

Make my day: Left wingers try to defend Obama on infanticide

obama2.jpgBlogger Impeach yesterday mocked "Lil Ricky" Santorum for castigating Barack Obama in a February 28 Philadelphia Inquirer op ed for his indefensible opposition to IL's Born Alive Infant Protection Act Santorum was the U.S. Senate sponsor of the federal version.

    Impeach wrote:

I also want to direct your attention to the text of the Illinois bill. Here it is. You're free, of course, to peruse what Senator Santorum has declared in his column to be "identical." Of course, it's not.

No, it's not. Because Impeach linked to the wrong bill, SB 1093 instead of SB 1095.

Impeach also linked to an amusing piece by left wing Media Matters, supposedly "deconstructing" a February 1 Washington Times editorial taking Obama to task for his opposition to Born Alive. It would appear MM was momentarily disturbed by a brain fart, because it argued our position...

Catholic Providence Health Care System and induced labor abortion

Last month I spoke at a pro-life conference in OR and mentioned that a large west coast Catholic health care system, Providence Health & Services, was committing induced labor abortion.

I received the following letter via email while on vacation and didn't spot it until yesterday (click to enlarge):

This issue goes back to 2004 when I received a call from Catholic news reporter Tom Szyszkiewicz, who had published an article in Our Sunday Visitor in March 2004. There he wrote....

Links to Barack Obama's votes on IL's Born Alive Infant Protection Act

obama.jpgBelow is a listing of then-state Senator Barack Obama's votes and state senate floor speeches on IL's Born Alive Infant Protection Act.

(At right is a political cartoon by Jack Higgins, printed in the Chicago Sun-Times on August 25, 2004, during his U.S. Senate campaign.)

A package of Born Alive bills was introduced three times during Obama's tenure.

The cornerstone bill was the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, aka "Born Alive Infant Defined," which defined legal personhood to include born alive infants any time the words "person," "human being," "child," or "individual" was stated in IL law.

This definition was identical to the federal BAIPA which was drafted from the definition of "live birth" created by the World Health Organization in 1950 and adopted by the United Nations in 1955.

Following are Obama's actions and votes on Born Alive. The bill number changed every year it was reintroduced.

    2001

Transcript of Obama's verbal opposition to Born Alive on the IL Senate floor, March 30, 2001, pages 84-90

Obama's "present" vote on the IL Senate floor, March 30, 2001

Obama's "no" vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee, March 6, 2002

Transcript of Obama's verbal opposition to Born Alive on the IL Senate floor, April 4, 2002, pages 28-35

Obama's "no" vote on the IL Senate floor, April 4, 2002

Listen to audio from Obama's 2002 IL Senate floor debate wherein he argued that while babies might be aborted alive, it would be a "burden" to a mother's "original decision" to assess and treat them.

Meanwhile, the federal Born Alive Infants Protection Act with a "neutrality clause" added passed the U.S. Senate 98-0, the U.S. House overwhelmingly, and was signed into law August 5, 2002. The pro-abortion group NARAL expressed neutrality on the bill.

    2003

Senate Bill 1082, Born Alive Infant Protection Act

Democrats took control of the IL Senate with the 2002 elections. This year Born Alive was sent to the Health & Human Services Committee, chaired by Barack Obama.

As can be seen on the vote docket, Obama first voted to amend SB1082 to add the "neutrality clause" from the federal version of Born Alive to the IL version to make them absolutely identical. (DP#1 means "Do Pass Amendment #1.)

Then Obama voted against the identical version. (DPA means, "Do Pass as Amended.)

Additional corroboration of Obama's vote: IL State Senate Republican Staff Analysis of SB 1082, March 12-13, 2003, bottom of page 2

For 4 years following his 2003 vote Obama misrepresented it, stating the wording of the IL version of Born Alive was not the same as the federal version, and he would have voted for it if so. As recently as August 16, 2008 Obama made this false assertion.

But when evidence presented was irrefutable, Obama's campaign on August 18, 2008, admitted the truth to the New York Sun.

The nonpartison group FactCheck.org has since corroborated Obama voted against identical legislation as passed overwhelmingly on the federal level and then misrepresented his vote.

    Meet Gianna Jessen, abortion survivor

fp.jpgThe photo, right, is of Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life and Gianna Jessen at the West Coast Walk for Life in CA on January 19.

Ever heard of Gianna? She was aborted alive. Her story in brief:

Gianna's biological mother was 17 when she had a saline abortion in her third trimester....After being burned alive for ~18 hours in the womb from the saline solution, Gianna was delivered alive in a Los Angeles County abortion clinic. Her medical records state, "born during saline abortion"... caus[ing] her Cerebral Palsy.... She weighed a mere 2 lbs. at birth.

Gianna was transferred by ambulance to a hospital, grew into a beautiful young woman with an excellent singing voice who now travels the world singing and telling her story.

I met Gianna in 2000. She testified with me at the Born Alive Infant Protection Act hearings. We both were invited to witness President Bush sign BAIPA into law in August 2001. Here's a photo, with Gianna standing next to me....

    Obama's lie about Born Alive's paragraph (c)

nys2.jpgThe New York Sun almost got it right this morning.

The headline reads, "Clinton: Obama should vote 'No' on abortion issue she backed," which is good. Clinton has been lambasting Obama to pro-aborts for voting "present" on the Born Alive Infant Protection Act as state senator when she voted "yes" for it as U.S. senator, "holding him to a tougher standard than she holds herself," states the NYS article.

Hannity & Colmes: Stanek, Obama, and babies aborted alive

Last night on Hannity & Colmes Alan Keyes did a real good job explaining Barack Obama's actions as IL state senator to halt the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. Keyes brought my name into the discussion since I witnessed babies being aborted alive and testified before Obama in committee. The relevant portion of the interview comes during the first 2-1/2 minutes:

    Fighting chance

I heard Matt Drudge say recently he loves the British press, and I do, too. They tell a story honestly, albeit sometimes melodramatically, but with no agenda. From the Daily Mail, December 8:

It was to be the one and only cuddle Carolyn Isbister would have with her tiny, premature daughter.

Rachael had been born minutes before - weighing a mere 20oz - and had only minutes to live. Her heart was beating once every ten seconds and she was not breathing.

As doctors gave up, Miss Isbister lifted her baby out of her hospital blanket and placed her on her chest.

    fighter.bmp
She said: "I didn't want her to die being cold. So I lifted her out of her blanket and put her against my skin to warm her up. Her feet were so cold.

"It was the only cuddle I was going to have with her, so I wanted to remember the moment." Then something remarkable happened....

Obama may have voted "present," but Hillary voted "yes" on identical pro-life bill

I reported Tuesday that Hillary Clinton is giving Barack Obama heat for voting "present" on certain bills as IL state senator, seven on abortion issues, according to Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times. I know three of those were on the Born Alive Infant Protection Act package of bills.

Well, there has been such a rich development.

emily%27s%20list2.jpgMSNBC reported yesterday on a press conference arranged by the Clinton campaign with Ellen Malcolm, head of the pro-abortion group, EMILY's List, to tout Hillary as the best credentialled pro-abort presidential candidate. EMILY's List raises funds for pro-abort female legislative candidates, and has a dismal record to show for it, btw. Continued MSNBC:

Malcolm hadn't mentioned Obama by name, but she said that those who vote "present" at tough times don't show a true commitment to leadership - referring to Obama's "present" votes on some anti-abortion measures while serving in the Illinois state Senate.

Does Malcolm really want to go there?

The fact is Hillary voted in favor of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act as U.S. Senator, one of the very bills she and EMILY are nailing Obama for voting "present" on as state senator. Was it not better to vote "present" than "yes"? Is that the kind of leadership EMILY wants?

This point is begging for someone in the MSM to pick up on, particularly since the Obama and Clinton campaigns are vying for pro-abort affections.

Mother of four stashed fetuses may sue

I christy%202.jpg wrote about Christy Freeman 6 weeks ago.

Police searched Freeman's Ocean City, MD, home and grounds after she was hospitalized July 27 for retained placenta but denied having been pregnant.

They found four dead preborn babies - the newly delivered under her bathroom vanity, twins in a bedroom chest, and one in a Winnebago in the driveway.

    Fetus beyond the womb

victoria.jpgThis seems cut-and-dry. There is no question the Born Alive Infant Protection Act applies here. Passed in 2001, it states any human born alive, no matter the circumstances and no matter the gestational age, is constitutionally protected as a legal person.

And it's a good thing we have BAIPA, because legalized abortion has completely radicalized thinking on personhood. From the Kansas City Star, September 11:

A federal magistrate judge has questioned defense arguments that Lisa Montgomery should not be charged with kidnapping because the child she abducted was not a legal person....

    Stanek on the O'Reilly Factor

At long last I've got this video formatted correctly and posted on YouTube.

On September 29, 2000, I was interviewed on the O'Reilly Factor about my experience as an RN at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL, holding a live aborted baby.

Bill O'Reilly was uncharacteristically speechless a couple times throughout, which may be why he chose to replay this as one of his five highlights of the year on December 28, 2000.

    First things first

A guest columnist in yesterday's Times-Mail acknowledged global warming but said abortion eclipses it and may have snuffed its problem solvers. Same for Social Security.

Christ Hospital was used to demonstrate abortion's worst example. On that topic, some of you may not have seen the photos I took of the Comfort Room. All can be clicked for enlarged view.

I believe what Gore is presenting.... Indeed, the climate has been shifting and altering and, of course, we are responsible....

But I believe there is a bigger issue afflicting us. I believe the cause of protecting our environment is looming for this generation. I also believe that until we understand the socio-economic affect of abortion on our society, we will be unable to solve our environmental problems.

Simply put, we have probably destroyed those that could have pulled us out of this dilemma. So many things in our economy banked on the 40 million people who have been eradicated. Our Social Security system was based on succeeding generations supporting the current elderly population. What looked good on paper in the 1930s, diminished greatly at the dawn of abortion rights....

Rush Limbaugh, Christ Hospital, and Barack Obama

Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh had a caller on who spotlighted Christ Hospital, its involvement in the hideous practice of aborting babies alive and letting them die, and the connection to Barack Obama, who as state senator spoke and voted against IL's Born Alive Infant Protection Act.

The fired nurse mentioned in the call was, as most know, me.

Rush is currently showcasing the call on his home page. (Click to enlarge.)

You can read or listen to a transcript of the call here, or read the relevant portion on my page 2.

Until Christ Hospital stops aborting, its reputation will continue to be dragged through the mud, of couse, rightfully so.

As for Obama, there is no way he can explain this one away, although he has tried - giving four different answers by my count.

The question is whether or not MSM will force him to address his support of aborting babies alive and letting them die.

Rush is optimistic, telling the caller, "This stuff will all come out. I'm going to tell you something. Aside from the most-informed audience in media, which is you and everybody else listening to this program, most people really start paying attention to this stuff after Thanksgiving, when the primaries start."

    Fetal homicide vs. infanticide

There is way more going on with this story than meets the eye.

You've likely heard about it by now. Four babies were discovered July 26 in an around the Maryland apartment of Christy Freeman after she was taken by ambulance to a hospital for hemorraging with retained placenta but denied having a baby.

Police searched and found not just the 26-week-old baby Freeman had just delivered - under her bathroom vanity - but two more in a bedroom chest and another in a Winnebago in the driveway.

The state attorney originally charged Freeman with murdering the baby she had just delivered, under a 2005 Maryland fetal homicide statute passed in response to the murders of Laci and Connor Peterson that targets criminals intending to kill a "viable fetus."

christy.jpgThen, last week, the state attorney changed course and instead charged Freeman with murdering "Twin One," as they call him/her, after the coroner concluded s/he was "full-term or near full-term," and after Freeman confessed to letting the baby drown in the toilet where delivered.

Yes, two of the found babies were apparently twins, the ones found together in the bedroom chest, delivered in either 2003 or 2004. (There are two dates out there.) Freeman has not said how Twin Two died, nor has the coroner reported yet.

When reading various news reports, it was on these points I became confused and called Denise Burke, vice president and legal director of Americans United for Life, who was quoted in at least one news story re: this case....

Live birth abortions across the pond

Several news sources have reported on the British study finding that one in 30 babies who are aborted for birth defects survive up to several hours (here, here, and here). These are usually late-term induced labor abortions, following testing for abnormalities.

gianna.bmpThe study itself, conducted over 10 years from 1995-2004 in 20 hospitals and published by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, contained additional interesting information not yet reported:

  • The prevelance of TOPFA (termination of pregnancy for fetal anomaly) was 1 in 253 conceptions

  • Date range of abortions was 8 to 40 weeks: ~20% were before 16 weeks, ~32% b/t 16-20 weeks; ~38% b/t 20-24 weeks, and 8.4% at or after 24 weeks

  • There were 264 abortions after 24 weeks. Of those, 94 were at or after 28 weeks and 26 were at or after 34 weeks....

  • Remembering Baby Rowan

    rowan1b.jpg

I'm really sorry I just missed the second anniversary of Baby Rowan's death.

Baby Rowan was aborted alive into a toilet on April 2, 2005, at one of abortionist James Pendergraft's late-term abortion mills, EPOC Clinic, in Orlando, FL.

By dates, Rowan was 22-6/7 weeks old, just 1 day shy of conventional wisdom's current line of viability (although Amillia Taylor was recently born at 21 weeks at a Miami hospital and survived).

I received an anguished email from Rowan's mother Angele several days after the abortion and wrote about what happened. I later met Angele, a warm, loving, and tortured woman. Here is what she relayed to me....

World's youngest surviving baby born in Miami

amillia1.jpgLittle Amillia Taylor was born at the age of 22 weeks and six days, weighing only 10 oz. We know her exact age because she was conceived by in vitro fertilization.

Four months later, weighing four pounds, Amilliia is being released from Baptist Children's Hospital in Miami, Florida, today.

How ironic that the world's youngest known baby to survive was born in Florida, the very state so much in the news lately for standing by as babies older than this little girl are aborted alive and either purposefully killed or shelved to die.

In fact, according to Local10.com, Amillia's mother Sonja, lied to doctors about her baby's age, knowing they would not resuscitate her otherwise....

A WorldNetDaily.com headline story yesterday expanded on my Feb 12 blog post, "Bodies of evidence," about sidewalk counselors reporting a young father to Orlando police who brought his baby, accidentally aborted at home, to James Pendergraft's Florida abortion mill. Police refused to act.

According to Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel to WND, at least two laws may have been broken....

    Baby Rowan 911 call

This is a 911 call unlike any other you may ever hear. It was just posted on You Tube. Made on April 2, 2005, the call was to report a baby had been aborted alive in an Orlando abortion mill. It was not clinic workers who made the call but a friend of the aborting mom, reporting clinic workers were attempting to ensure the baby's demise. It seems to me 911 operators also helped ensure the baby's demise by mishandling the call, solely because the person in life-threatening distress was an aborted baby.

Clinic workers turned the response team away at the door, and the response team complied. Rowan died in his mother's arms as she sang to him, alone in the bathroom where he was aborted. The photos you will see are of Rowan, taken in the morgue.

I interviewed and later met Rowan's mother. You can read Rowan's story here. Rowan's mother is a gentle, sensitive person who made a terrible decision under distressing circumstances.

The abortionist, James Pendergraft, is still in business.

Blobs of tissue inside and out?

The bad news is the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists will recommend that babies born alive before the gestational age of 22 weeks not be issued birth certificates, according to Britain's Sunday Times yesterday, since doing so "causes unnecessary suffering to mothers who wanted an abortion."

The good news is RCOG's recommendation may provoke calls to "drop the limit for social abortions from 24 to 22 weeks," said Dr Vincent Argent, medical director of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, also according to the Times. In Britain, those are illegal.

Hat tip: Rich Collier. Read full article on page 2.
