Blogger dispels myth that pro-life women are “sexually repressed”

I felt deeply regretful about giving my body to someone who did not value me. But I didn’t learn my lesson then. Not yet. It took a sordid, soul-crushing, disgusting, short-lived “relationship” with another not-very-nice dude to really drive the point home.

After that, I vowed before God that the next time I had sex, it would be on my wedding night. And, by His Grace, I kept that promise. I was married two months ago to a man who treats me like a queen. And he was no virgin, either. He was 43 when we married. But he had learned the lesson I learned: that sexual libertinism is not liberating. It destroys you a little piece at a time….

As long as these two lists don’t match, we will have abortion

In every society, there are two critical lists: acceptable conditions for having a baby, and acceptable conditions for having sex. From time immemorial, the one thing that almost every society had in common was that their two lists matched up.

It was only with the widespread acceptance of contraception in the middle of the 20th century, creating an upheaval in the public psyche in which sex and babies no longer went hand-in-hand, that the two lists began to diverge. And now, in 21st-century America, they look something like this:

Conditions under which it is acceptable to have sex:

  • -If you’re in a stable relationship
  • -If you feel emotionally ready
  • -If you’re free of sexually transmitted diseases
  • -If you have access to contraception

Conditions under which it is acceptable to have a baby:

WashPo columnist ties Akin remarks to “anti-science” abstinence ed

Each month, a woman releases an egg (“ovum,” in science speak), which travels down one of two fallopian tubes and hangs out in the uterus for some days awaiting a sperm. If a sperm and egg meet, usually through intercourse, and connect, in a process called fertilization, a pregnancy can occur. The egg, which is a cell and thus cannot be said to have anything like feelings, does not distinguish between the sperm of a rapist and the sperm of Prince Charming.

Columnist claims “abstinence got me pregnant”

Suffice to say in the heat of the moment, we hoped the rhythm method would work. Two weeks later I was pregnant. I would say “we” were pregnant, but it really was only me. I was and am still pro-choice. I knew I had options. I considered them all, including marriage, which this young man [...]

Abstinence and monogamy credited with reducing African HIV rates

Republican Congressman… Chris Smith provided indisputable evidence of the victory: AIDS prevention events in African countries achieve successful results when they are founded upon abstinence and fidelity. From the House of Representatives, Smith drew a bill to revive the President’s Emergency Plan for HIV/AIDS. After citing the reports of the U.S. State Department and the [...]

Adultery promoter seeks temptress for Tebow

As a former sports attorney I have seen with my own eyes the night in and night out temptations that are placed in front of professional athletes. Couple that with having to play on the hottest stage in sports and his limited talents, and I thought: ‘Why not challenge his personal notions’… which to me [...]

Justin Bieber: “I want to be respected by everybody”

I’m not going to try to conform to what people want me to be or go out there and start partying, have people see me with alcohol. I want to do it at my own pace…. I want to be someone who is respected by everybody…. I want to be able to do what Michael [...]

Sex: Lower the cost, raise the risks

If you lower the cost of things, people will buy more of it…. [I]f you lower the cost of uncommitted sexual encounters, you completely dissociate sex from pregnancy and birth and a lifetime of child care. People will engage in more uncommitted sexual encounters. ~ George Mason University law professor Helen Alvare, explaining the idea [...]

Broadway star regrets aborted fatherhood

I didn’t want the responsibility, I wanted the sex. And so the easy way out was abortion. That’s what I thought. Just pay $300 and the problem goes away…. I thought if you just wanted to have sex just do it, what’s the big deal? I didn’t realize how important sex was – that people [...]

I think that people will look at that and think that’s a step too far…. I find it really abhorrent to see the sort of campaign that’s been raised now on a really sensitive issue.

I’m concerned to see young kids involved in a debate like this.

There was a good point made in some of the commentary that I saw, that these young people are at an age that they haven’t actually lived long in the life to experience the competing issues that adults have to confront in their lifetime.

~ Pro-abortion Tasmanian Premier Lara Giddings (pictured above right; click to enlarge), commenting on silent protests at the Parliament involving “more than 200 people… [including] young children – some in school uniform… rall[ying] against proposed changes to the state’s laws to allow abortions up to 24 weeks into a pregnancy,” as quoted by ABC News, April 10
