Characterization vs. character
Polls continue to corroborate that while most Americans continue to call themselves "pro-choice," their beliefs trend pro-life. In actuality, most Americans want restrictions or bans on who can abort, when, and how. These polls have been consistent over a span of time.
Despite Roe v. Wade, pro-lifers have and continue to find ways to restrict abortion. Whether or not we are successful on paper (passing laws), we are always successful. Every law we propose forces the other side to fight what most Americans consider common-sense guidelines on abortion.
This is one reason it's just a matter of time before it will no longer be political correct to be "pro-choice," and the answers to the polls will all match up.
