Hate the one you're with II
Over at The American Prospect blog, pro-aborts are as mad at abortion hypocrite Giuliani and as incredulous of Planned Parenthood's support of Giuliani as I am.
After posting PP prez Cecile Richard's schmooze piece, which I excerpted in my previous post, blogger Ann Friedman made this sarcastic remark:
Right. Clearly Giuliani is staking his campaign on his deep, unwavering commitment to women's health... He repeats that he's personally opposed to abortion, that he would support further restrictions, that he would appoint an anti-choice Supreme Court justice, and that overturning Roe would "be OK."Apparently $900 in donations buys a lifetime endorsement from Planned Parenthood, no matter how weak your position on choice.
PP didn't take the complaint on its back with its feet in stirrups. PP responded....
Giuliani does not have a lifetime endorsement from Planned Parenthood, and he does not have an endorsement from Planned Parenthood Action Fund today. But he has chosen to run for the Republican nomination as a pro-choice candidate and that shows a commitment to mainstream values that a majority of voters can get behind. The more politicians we have who support women's health, the better. It will be a great day when choice isn't even a political issue. But if we ever want to break the right-wing, anti-choice grasp on the Republican Party, we have to start somewhere. We have to show all candidates that standing up for women's health is not a Republican, Democrat or Independent value -- it's a value that all Americans can and should support.
Interesting insight.
I wish pro-lifers picking apart Mitt Romney would heed PP's example.
I can't believe I said that.

Nah nah nah nah nah nah.

Posted by: MK at May 16, 2007 6:47 PMAt least Giuliani has been consistently anti-life, which is more than can be said for Romney. Not to give him credit for that of course, his position is still completely illogical as was shown during the debate last night.
Posted by: Faciamus at May 16, 2007 8:27 PMFunny as it is... this is exactly the kind of vissual-inducing comment that would get my comment deleted by jill and you all calling me disgusting.

The man held a pro-choice view due to the fact that his sister-in-law died from an illegal abortion. I dont support our abortion-on-demand system, but I do think that if we are going to have them they should be safe. The pro-life camp should be grateful that such a public personality can be a poster child for "the change."
