An excerpt from National Right to Life's letter against to congresspersons opposing DeGette's clone and kill bill, issued just a few minutes ago:
Curiously, Congresswoman DeGette is a cosponsor of another bill, H.R. 1964, the so-called 'Freedom of Choice Act,' which among other things, says that the government "may not deny or interfere with a woman's right... to bear a child.... "Under H.R. 2560, however, a woman has a right to have cloned human embryos created with her genetic material and/or eggs, but not the right to "bear" the cloned child.

Does Congresswoman DeGette agree with those who say that a baby whose life was begun by cloning would not be a real human "child"? Does she believe that Dolly was not a real sheep?
Oh, the complications of being a pro-deather.
Comments:
Sorreh, I'm at work and I wanted to make a comment...
This harks back to the movie "The Island" where they grow human clones as "insurance policies" in the event that the person the clone is made from needs an organ transplant. The people in the movie did not treat the sentient human clones as "persons" but as commodities and didn't even really see them as "humans" per se because they were not birthed the same way, they were created differently (it's a real pain to describe).
Anyway, so yeah, not a fan of full human cloning...as of now I have no qualms with the cloning of organs for transplant use but cloning a full human being has far too much risk of being abused.

How true. I can remember reading books 20 years ago, (Robin Cook, maybe) where this was the theme.
And these books were considered in the "horror" genre!
Yesterdays horror is todays soup du jour...scary.
