Sure :-)

1 whole frying chicken
Marinade
1/2 C fresh lemon or lime juice
1/2 C fresh orange juice
1/3 C olive oil
1 can, 12 oz. beer **(Bud Light is the best)**

1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/4 C minced cilantro
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper

Mix all marinade ingredients together.

Place chicken in a large plastic zipper bag and pour in the marinade,
squeeze excess air from the bag and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or
overnight.

Preheat grill to medium-hot temperature.

Place a roasting pan on the grill, open a can of beer and carefully sit the
chicken on top of the open can and set both the can and the chicken in the
roasting pan on the grill

The beer will everporate during cooking, make sure to baste the bird from the inside.
Brush the chicken with reserved marinade every 20 minutes.

Depending on how big the chiken is -IT should be cooked in about an hour,

ooh and for great asparagus, put it on the grill and marinade it in lemon pepper sauce (you can buy it in the grocery store).

I do not believe that a person can be categorized based on her choice for a candidate in a two-party system, and I think that some issues are at least as important as abortion, such as the timeframe for bringing the troops home from Iraq. Jasper did you take US History in High School or College? Let me refresh your memory. Just b/c the Pres. nominates someone does not automaticaly mean they get into office. The Congress can veto the nomination. You're problem is that the Senate and House (if I am remembering coreectly) is mainly Democratic now. So, it really doesnt matter who the Pres is when it comes to nominating. Sorry.

And you should vote soley on someone's abortion issue. There are problems plaguing this country worse than abortion. Try voting for their stance on those issues.

Looking at it from your point of view I understand where you are coming from...but try to see it this way: If it was 5 year old children that were being killed instead of fetuses, and one guy running for pres. said "No more killing 5 year olds because they are a burden, or imperfect, or you want to finish school", and the other guy said "I don't like killin' em. I'm actually against killin' 'em! But I don't believe I should interfere with a persons personal choice to off kindergartners..."

ehhh, JK, I still stand by my vote. I dont agree with alot of what Bush is done, but I think he did the best he could in the given situation. I mean if a democrat had been in office during 9/11 and afterwards, everyone would be complaining about him. I wish the troops would come home soon. I am sick of my friends getting deployed to Iraq all the time. I am sick of worrying about them and getting scared with a person in their unit gets killed. But I'd think the same things if Kerry had been office too, so I think it's a moot point. Any Pres. would be under fire if he'd been in office during this time.

Keep in mind that this is the dog that shredded my ACL and made me have surgery. Also, she hates other dogs...

She will however, bring in the newpaper, roll over dead when you shoot her (which I am tempted to do often), play hide and seek with her toys (she actually does that "hot"-"cold" thingy), won't bite (people) and loves the bunny. (although before she got to know Lucy, she was bringing me dead bunnies for awhile, and today she killed an opossum - and no, it wasn't just playin' dead, it was dead). And she kinda looks like lassie. She definitely sheds like lassie...

The unusual conversation came about because Kathy Hilton, Paris' mother, had phoned me, and while we were talking, Paris called on the other line. When she heard I was talking to her mother, she said she'd like to talk to me herself.

I asked what kinds of things she might want to do.

She said she would like to help in the fields of breast cancer — her grandmother had breast cancer — or multiple sclerosis. Her father's mother suffers from that disease.

She thought she might get toy companies to build a kind of Paris Hilton playhouse, where sick children might come, and the toy companies could donate toys.

She has had a person whom she described as a spiritual adviser who said, "My spirit or soul did not like the way I was being seen and that is why I was sent to jail."

"God," she said, "has released me."

well I still think the girl is dumb as bricks, nor do I think she'll "change" after being released from jail. They should make Lohan her cell mate...

She doesn't like other dogs ever since the son I can't sell let her get attacked by some pit bulls when he had her down at his school.

So when a big, happy, chocolate lab came to greet her at a fence we were passing, she went ballistic.

She pulled the baby stroller over and while I'll was keeping the baby from falling out, the dog lunged and my knee went that way, while my foot stayed in one place.

I couldn't move for twenty minutes, screaming baby, lunging dog, and when I could finally talk again I used a few choice words in a VERY LOUD voice...the dog never stopped lunging. But the chocolate lab sat down at attention and never made another sound. I was 6 blocks from home, and 8 blocks from my kids school (which is where I was headed). Crawled to a curb and sat there for forty five minutes waiting for my mother to come and get me. She just kept driving up and down the neighborhood till she found me. Wasn't exactly hard to spot...

And the dog still lives...tho I have heard chocolate isn't good for dogs. She ate an ant trap the other day, and I thought, "well that should take care of the problem!"...but no, like a cockroach after a nuclear blast, she still lives. And lives. And lives...

MK, he a german shepard mix. She was talking him for a walk and he pulled a little to hard and twisted her ankle. My real name is Steve.

I am sorry MK. Damn pit bulls, I really dont like those dogs. They'll turn on their master for no apparent reason. Dont like doberman pinchers or rotwilers either.

eeek, Chow Chow's I forgot about those little shiznits. I dont like them either. One lived behind my parents house and would attack the fence when I played outside. I was secretly happy when that dog got run over by a car. He tried to scale the fence to come after me and my pooch one day when I was 12.

I was chased by a Saint Bernard dog when I was 4. He ate my Little Mermaid shoe.

I was scared of big dogs since.

He wasn't trying to hurt me or anything, he wanted to play but I was scared so I ran and he thought he was playing by chasing me.

I like my li'l 12 pound bag o' fluff that I call my puppy. :D

Really did not know just how to express the ‘problem’ I feel. Instead of becoming ever more sensitive creatures, we tend to be so aggressive that it blunts us from becoming ever weaker and dependant on others. Babies do not fight for dominance with each other then why should we?
We also make some silly assumptions about each other … Less loves to chuckle and say that we are “sending her to hell”. Truth is she’s running away from being sensitive and will love to hide away from God for all eternity …. We will not have to send her anywhere … the iceberg she calls love (which is sex) will find its home in the pit we call hell = self-absorption. I) What is Cyber Bullying?

Bullying is not like it used to be. Nowadays abuse lashes out beyond the school yard into children’s homes via technology - creating new kinds of bullies and new kinds of weapons.

Equally alarming is that a child you know may be as likely to become one of the bullies as one of the victims!

Bill Belsey, teacher and founder of bullying.org and cyberbullying.ca, describes the many facets of this new menace. “Cyberbullying involves the use of information and communication technologies such as e-mail, cell phone and pager text messages, instant messaging (IM), defamatory personal Web sites, and defamatory online personal polling Web sites, to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behaviour by an individual or group, that is intended to harm others.”

II) How It Differs from Schoolyard Bullying
“The incidence of cyberbullying is higher among females than males.

“43% of teens report that they have experienced some form of cyberbullying in the past year.

While I don't believe Sandy was picking on the woman above's looks, (I agree, it was more her "attitude" that she was comparing to Cameron), Samantha was right to say that calling people harmful names is despicable.

Teens have so much to overcome as it is. I remember telling my boys when they were growing up that they shouldn't "attack" each other. The world will do enough of that, and home is the one place you should be able to go where you know nobody is going rip into you. It should always be a "safe" place. Those of us who "know better" should apply the same thing to the rest of the world. It's our job to make sure that people feel loved, safe and welcome. Whether they are teens, old, disabled or unborn...

A good point about personal appearance. Isn't it interesting though that its always a woman's appearance that is relevant and never the man's?
I've been very distressed to see the physical appearance of sexual assault victims discussed. If she's unattractive she's not worthy of belief, if she's attractive then she "enticed" her attacker.
The women who accused Clinton were openly ridiculed about their physical appearance, often times by men and women who I thought would never win any beauty contests themselves.
I remember the lady prosecutor of OJ Simpson changing her hair and fashion style because of comments. I've also seen the makeup, clothing, and physical appearances of female politicians discussed.
I can name any number of prominent men who don't make my heart go pitter-pat, but when was the last time we heard a discussion on their need for face-lifts, hair plugs and fitness trainers?
Let's face it MK, men can look like pitbulls but its always open season on any woman no matter how attractive she may or may not be.

Wow - I missed all the fun last night!

I do feel compelled to respond to the dog conversation.

Someone said "They'll (Pit Bulls) turn on their master for no apparent reason. Dont like doberman pinchers or rotwilers either."

Whenever I hear someone say this I think "Racial Profiling is a bad thing!" Except here it is doggy profiling. ;-)

The Pit Bulls that turn on their owners are not TRUE Pit Bulls. They are man's manipulation of the breed that have made them this way. It is so sad to see those poor dogs after a dog fight. I have had to care for many of them. Some are scary, some are the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. But, that is true of all breeds.

Doberman's and Rotts are the sad victims of man's manipulation too. It breaks my heart to hear that people are afraid of them. They are actually two of the best breeds to have with a family. Watch a dog show and see what they are suppose to look like. Then you'll realize that what you 'see on the streets' are mixed breeds.

Okay - Lesson over for today. ;-)

We had one the same time we had the rottweiler. She thought she was a lap dog and was so sweet-tempered I was able to ride her around the back yard like she was a horse :P.

I know what you mean about Rott's. I always think of Good Dog Carl. The problem is that Rotts and Dobies have been bred for hundreds of years to be protectors, and if not trained they can think they are protecting the wrong thing. Like me.

But a well trained Rott or Dobie is a sight to behold. It's because of those dog shows that I learned to "appreciate" the breed. And you'll notice I didn't say "hate", just don't care for.

Truth is, there are no bad dogs. Just bad matches. If the owners don't do their research they can end up with...well, my dog. (Not true, I love her...but I didn't know what her "other half" was when I got her. Only knew her mother was a Show Collie, so I took a chance. Little bugger turned out to be half border collie, which happens to be one of my favorite breeds...as long as they live at your house.) But so many people get terriers and wonder why they bark so much and dig, or hounds and can't understand why they wander and eat the garbage, or german shepherds and can't figure out why they won't let the mailman deliver the mail! Do your research people. A week or two of reading up on breeds can save 17 years of headaches.

As for Mastiffs and Newfies? I LOVE THEM! I love any breed that thinks exercise is getting up and walking to the food dish. Lumps, those two breeds. I love lumpy dogs. Do you get hair plastered to the walls where they've drooled? Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds are more of my favs. But Lassie will always be my best, most favoritest!

Samantha, Manx do have a lethal tail condition, yes. If you breed two tailless Manxes together, any resulting kittens will be stillborn, as their spines are lethally shortened. Unfortunately, due to show standards, there's a huge pressure to breed true tailless cats, so sometimes people do it anyway. It's very, very, sad. :(

Just to jump in on the pit bull debate, I had a family friend who had a purebred pit. She was absolutely the sweetest dog I had ever met. And so patient! She would let me ride her and everything, never showed any aggression at all. I don't know much about Dobermans and rotts, though. I desperately want a Mastiff, though: they're so lumpy and fluffy and drool-y. I have a fondness for the drool-y dogs.

I have a German Shepard (my absolute faves, i love big dogs with a passion), a German Shepard-collie mix, and a Miniature long-haired Dachshund that I've dubbed "Fraulein Inga Von Schnitzel".

Plus five cats....

and a mess of kittens we just found in the barn...

I have to give Toby away: lucky for me, my fiance adores him and is getting an apartment where pets are allowed, so I'm going to pay the extra deposit fee and my boy will adopt my kitty. My two favorite males in the same living space, oh the excitement!

I will never be without an English Mastiff in my life. She is wonderfull. She is more of a couch potatoe than me! Excercise? What's that? Unless it is to play fetch, but then she will only do that for about 5 minutes. My son used her head as a step stool to get on the sofa, My daughter uses her head as a seat. She could care less, sometimes she doesn't even stop snoring when they climb on her. We have slobber on the floors, walls and ceiling. You do have to be carefull with Mastiff's (English, Bull, French in particular) being teritorial. No one is allowed between me and the kids or come into the yard when we are outside.

Overall - I think the English Mastiff is a great family dog. Bull Mastiff's can be tempermental, French Mastiff's are a bit aggressive and the Neopolitan's are goofballs. There are more Mastiff's, but those are the breeds I have had lots of contact with.

For those wanting a Giant Breed dog (Not large, but Giant. Mastiff, Newfie, Great Dane, Irish Wolfhound....anything well over 100 pounds.) Remember that they need extra nutrition than just kibble. They can have serious joint and hip problems without a proper diet. And Puppy's can get a bone growth problem that makes the leg bones curve and twist - very painful - if given the wrong amounts of protein VS fat. As adults, they really don't eat that much - but vet bills can be outrageous. Training is easy with Giant breeds as long as you go slowly and at their pace. They can't be rushed for anything!

I agree with MK - Research everything and then research some more. I also tell people to rescue. There are sooooo many abandoned/stray dogs it is heart breaking. Most full breeds have a breed specific rescue group too. We got our Newfie from rescue when he was 2 years old. He was sweet, but needed ALOT of training. He is a great dog now. (my hubby would disagree - they don't get along. the Newfie was abused by a man so he challenges most men.)

w00t! Amanda, how long has your boyfriend been a piper? What level is he? I was a piper for 3 years at military school! It's great money when you play a wedding or a funeral, too!

Just an FYI - Giant dogs are easily trained. I walked both my dogs at the same time when I was 8 months pregnant. I am almost 5'3" and 130 pounds and together they weigh 300 pounds. They can only overpower you if you let them.

German Shephards are great dogs! Be a bit careful with German Shephard mixes - some people have tried to mix wolf hybrid in and it is causing some behavior problems. When the shelters get them, they don't have any info so they list them as shephard mix. Read up on wolf hybrids (they are illegal in some states/counties) and get to know the body structure. The behavior problems are not necessarily aggressive, but extremely difficult to train on the easy stuff - potty training in particular. (Wolf hybrids can be the most stubborn dogs I have ever seen!)

Jill, it all depends on the person. I picked them up fairly easily. It's recommended that you start for a year on a practice chanter, then move on to actual pipes. Traditionally, you studied under a master for years before you were allowed to pipe.

Ringo, the guy who teaches pipes at SJNMA, was my instructor my last year there, and he is considered one of, if not the, best bagpipers in the world. Under his tutelage, I picked up many different tunes that I would've never been able to learn.
