Clone no MO?
Who can forget that shaky Michael J. Fox ad encouraging Missourians to vote to fund human embryo experimentation last November?
One of the lies of Amendment Two was that it outlawed cloning, which it actually sanctioned.
The amendment stated in one section, "No person may clone or attempt to clone a human being," which it could only say by redefining the word. Yet in another section it endorsed "somatic cell nuclear transfer," which is cloning.
Pro-lifers even sued - and lost - over the misleading ballot language.
MSM didn't help, of course, calling the valid argument - which anyone, even a reporter, could confirm by looking in a dictionary - a "claim."
But Amendment Two squeaked by, 51-49%, and MSM no longer has to play dumb, either that or it has forgotten to aid and abet the cover-up....
The Washington Post yesterday called a clone a clone when it reported that public funded human embryo experimentation is suffering serious setbacks in MO. This is due in large part to the threat of an initiative to call Amendment Two's bluff and ban somatic cell nuclear transfer:
Some researchers even fear the techniques known as therapeutic cloning could still be outlawed in Missouri.Scientist Kevin Eggan had once considered packing up his lab at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute and moving to Missouri. Now he's reluctant.
"I couldn't possibly come to a place where I thought the potentially lifesaving research I want to do could become illegal," said Eggan....
I've repeatedly said embryonic stem cell researchers need cloning to stand any chance of fulfilling their wild promises. This is because embryos are unique humans with unique genetic markers, so any tissue grown from their cells will most often not match recipients. Only clones will.

Were two posts just removed?
I recall someone asking if you were really concerned about cloned cells for biomedical research.
Do you really have an issue with bioengineered product that would be free of rejection compications for the donor? (Hell, transplants don't kill anywhere NEAR as many people as the anti-rejection drugs kill. They're BRUTAL...) Cloned product would be such a gift for those cursed with autoimmune disorders.
I am not for sure but I may have accidentally deleted them when I was cleaning out the spam from the comments folder. About 100 Spam messages are posted daily, and they have to be removed. I have been removing them as much as I can today, and I try my best to avoid posts by names I recognize. I'm sorry if I removed anything that wasn't supposed to be deleted.
Why, Bethany, you spam angel, you! Thanks! I didn't know you were doing that!
Laura, yes, I see a post from my old pro-cloning/embryo experimentation friend Rayilyn was accidentally deleted. I'll repost.
And "bioengineered product"? Nice. Yes, I do have an issue when the "bioengineered product" is a human being.
Posted by: Jill StanekSCNT involves cloning cells, not people. Why do you claim otherwise?
Can someone please explain ESCR to me? I am really not informed well enough on the issue to speak on it. What do they do?
Posted by: Heather4life at July 25, 2007 6:53 PMHeather, ESCR stands for embryonic stem cell research. Did you want to know what that is, or just what "ESCR" meant?

Well, prepare to get militant, because the nitrogen facility where those "human beings" are stored throws them down a sink when no one wants then anymore. Fertility specialists will pick out the two-three best and fire the "losers" into a towel while doing implantations. Thousands and thousands are intentionally trashed every year.

Actually, it just makes me wonder why you're not picketing in front of fertility clinics and lobbying to have IVF outlawed. Shouldn't you be screaming "babykiller!" at the women entering fertility clinics that practice IVF? Wouldn't you agree that your god made them barren for a reason, and that it's wrong to thwart the will of your god?
Posted by: Laura at July 26, 2007 11:39 AMLaura, I don't get how that answers my question?
Laura, why are you always so angry?...I sense anger and hostility in almost every post you've ever made. Or maybe it's just sarcasm and bitterness? Has someone hurt you, and did it have to do with abortion? I am just curious, because I wonder sometimes what you post here for. You don't seem that interested in actually debating issues as much as attacking and insulting people, know what I mean?
Gee, maybe it's because a pack of ignorant, superstitious, stone-age primitives want to deny me the basic civil rights that every adult American is entitled. Maybe it's because the same neanderthals want to deny cures to my stricken loved ones because they hold every speck of croth slime in a petrie dish sacred.
Fortunately, I believe this country is about to take a long-overdue lurch to the left...
(Knocking wood!)
I appreciate you calling me an ignorant neanderthal and for proving my point.
If you ever want to open up about where your bitterness truly springs from, I'll be here for you.
Laura,
Specifically what civil rights have you been denied? The right to vote, live where you want, to enter any place of business you want? Are you forced to use segregated facilities?
What cures are being denied your loved ones? Embryonic Stem Cells have cured no one, and its only speculated they can. Adult stem cells have. I would suggest you enroll a loved one in an ASC study here in the US or travel to Brazil, where Type I diabetics were successfully treated with ASCs, or Thailand, where the late American entertainer Don Ho travelled to receive an effective ASC treatment for his failing heart that he couldn't receive in the US.
Isn't name calling intolerant and bigoted?
Laura, 10:08a: I don't need to prepare to get militant. I already am. I don't like what goes on in IVF clinics either. I'd like them regulated.
As for Neanderthals and cures and such, I would counter that the Neanderthal is the one who pursues bad science while good science is already curing her loved ones' diseases.
