Lawsuit moves MI Gov. Granholm to remove embryonic stem cell petition from website

granholm.jpgThe Associated Press reported August 9 that the Thomas More Law Center in Ann Arbor is suing MI Democrat Gov. Jennifer Granholm for discrimination:

Granholm, who wants to lift Michigan's restrictions on embryonic stem cell research, has a link on her state [taxpayer funded] Web site that encourages citizens to sign a petition asking the state Legislature to pass bills that would lift restrictions on such research.

The law center says Granholm refused requests from its clients to place their own petition on the Web site opposing embryonic stem cell research....

Granholm spokeswoman Liz Boyd said the lawsuit is being reviewed.

"Under no circumstances will the governor abandon her fight to lift the restrictions on stem cell research in Michigan," Boyd said.

Apparently Granholm's people did a quick review, and apparently the governor is abandoning this part of her fight.

A check today showed the link Granholm previously promoted, www.michigan.gov/stemcell, is gone.

So is her taxpayer funded webpage promoting the petition.

But sorry, Guv, it's cached. (Click to enlarge.)...

Granholm is a pro-abort Catholic who is so bad on the life issue she vetoed a partial-birth abortion ban in 2003, although her veto was promptly overruled by a citizen petition drive.

Granholm doesn't have much luck with citizen petitions.

In this case, Granholm must not really want to know whether the majority of MI citizens support taxpayer funded human embryo experimentation.

I did a little research on this. This is another instance of cowardly (and liberal) bishops and cardinals not standing up for life, in fact in this case, they worked against a lay pro-life catholic group "CPS" Catholics in the Public Square.

Today, I went through a lot of pro-life sites to see what was going on, including this one.

At this point, I just want abortion to get the HELL away. I'm sick of it.

And no, this does not mean that I am pro-life now. I'm just sick of the stupid people that come from both sides.

In happier news, I passed my EMT course. =D

Stephanie, Congratulations!

Stephanie, I wish abortion would go away too. I wish it had never begun. I think that you will make a terrific EMT. Did you finish the actual classes or was that an entrance exam?

jasper, I had been trying to think of a way to kind of ask her the same thing. We have pro choicers and their supporters to thank for abortion remaining legal. Stop supporting it.

yes, exactly Heather...

I said stupid people from BOTH sides. I didn't mean specifically you or people from this site.

I still support the choice, but I just want abortion (ie, the need for it) to go away. I want women to make the choice to keep their unplanned pregnancy for themselves, not have some law make it for them.

I finished the course, so now I have to take the National Registry Exam. Gotta go schedule it. =P

Abortion has been around for thousands of years. There were no laws against abortion in the US until the mid 1800s and those first laws only limited what we would call 'late term' abortions. Laws against all abortions werent made until the later 1800s and didnt have a thing to do with 'concern' for the fetus or the woman pregnant. Whining 'abortion never should have started' is idiotic. Its been around for thousands of years. Laws against abortion should have never been written in the first place.

Abortion is murder. Legalized or not.
