... I'm looking for the best YouTube video that encompasses both the factual details and emotion of that terrible day.
Would like it to be five minutes or less.
Please post your suggestions in comments.
Thanks.

OMG, the end of that is horrible!
Posted by: JKeller at September 10, 2007 7:00 PMIt really is. I couldn't watch it this time, I just posted the link. It's heartbreaking.
Bethany, that was one of the worst phone calls I've heard from 911. It just makes me sick for those people. I just couldn't imagine.
Posted by: Heather at September 10, 2007 7:05 PMHere's one that is factual, not really emotional, but verrrrry creepy.

I'm still working on finding an emotional one.
Posted by: JKeller at September 10, 2007 7:07 PMOhhhh, Bethany, I remember that one. You pointed me to it a few months ago, and it really shook me up.
JK, thanks for working on this.
Posted by: Jill Stanek at September 10, 2007 7:15 PMOMG, JKellar, that was TOTALLY CREEPY!! I have to go watch it once more to see that final part.
Posted by: Heather at September 10, 2007 7:15 PMJKellar, thank you also for pointing out the devils face. I could not find it in others. Didn't it look like an evil face in the smoke??
Posted by: Heather at September 10, 2007 7:17 PMOne more thing. I just thought of this. The Twin Towers standing side by side look like #11. Oh how creepy.
Posted by: Heather at September 10, 2007 7:24 PMI was searching and I found it on youtube, its amazing the things that you never know but then it gets pointed out to you and you're like "do you think they really planned it that way?" It makes me want to do math and stay away from things that add up to 11 or 911. It's very creepy those devil faces in the smoke. Someone showed me one of the pictures shortly after the fact. It makes me wish that they had been photoshopped.

JKeller,
"On one occasion, when in New York City, I was in the night season called upon to behold buildings rising story after story toward heaven. These buildings were warranted to be fireproof. ... Higher and still higher these buildings rose. ... The scene that next passed before me was an alarm of fire. Men looked at the lofty and supposedly fireproof buildings and said: 'They are perfectly safe.' But these buildings were consumed as if made of pitch. The fire engines could do nothing to stay the destruction. The firemen were unable to operate the engines."
Does this description sound familiar? Here are some clues to concentrate on. You have the mentioning of New York City, tall buildings rising "toward heaven," human expectation of safety, buildings consumed as if made of pitch, and the futility of fire engines.
What is amazing about the quote that opens this article is when the quote was written and in what book it was written. You see, the above quote was written before 1909 in a book that was the last of nine volumes in a book called "Testimonies to the Church." The above quote is found in Volume 9 beginning on Page 11 - or, in abbreviated form, 9/11. What makes it more interesting is that the title of the chapter is "the last crisis" and it deals with conditions prior to the second coming of Christ.

This one isn't so much emotional, as it is "real"...It sounds just like every other home that day...
Posted by: mk at September 10, 2007 7:52 PMAhhh...it's 9:11 pm!!!
Posted by: JKeller at September 10, 2007 8:12 PMWell, in the Eastern time zone it was. After seeing that video I posted I will always be mistrustful of that particular time of day.
Posted by: JKeller at September 10, 2007 8:13 PMI just went to look up Revelation 9:11, but it doesn't have any September 11th significance (that I can discern, anyway)
Posted by: JKeller at September 10, 2007 8:18 PMWhile that is creepy I'd like to know what "Bill Clinton" has anything to do with it. OR why the fact that George W Bush has 11 letters in it too, but that wasn't brought up. I guess some right winged conservative created the youtube video. Oh well...
Bethany-
I have seen that video before and I don't want to watch it again. It is very heartbreaking and sad. :(
Yes, I thought the bill clinton thing was a little off topic, Clinton wasn't president when the attacks happened, nor did he cause them.
In other president as anti-christ news, the number of letters in the name of Ronald Wilson Reagan are 6-6-6.....
Posted by: JKeller at September 10, 2007 8:41 PMI'll never forget that day. I was a senior in high school, sitting in my Mass Society class. We started each day with current events and my teacher told us that a plane had hit one of the towers. He also stated that they were unsure if it was terrorist related or not. We started watching a movie in class, shortly after that he came to the tv, shut it off and told us that another plane had hit the second tower. We went down to the library to watch the news. It was packed full of students, all unsure of what to make of what was happening. I saw the second tower fall to the ground. I held back from crying as best I could. When I looked across the room I noticed a close friend of mine. We exchanged looks of "can you believe this" He looked like he was ready to start crying too. No body really wanted to do anything for the rest of the day. The mood of everyone was off and it was all anyone could talk about in school.
Where was everyone else? What was everyone else doing at the time?
Posted by: JM at September 10, 2007 8:44 PMWhen it happened I was in Spanish class, first block, junior year of high school. I didn't know about it til first block was over, because our classroom was kind of cut off, no windows and we were never allowed to watch tv. During break I heard some redneck telling someone that someone tried to blow up the world trade center, I was gonna say "that was in 1993, you idiot" because the guy really was kind of an idiot. I went into my second block class and the TV was on and everyone was watching. My teacher decided that we still had to discuss The Scarlet Letter, but she would keep the TV on in the background. None of us were paying attention to anything involving Nathaniel Hawthorne though, that's when I saw one of the towers collapse, just disintegrate before my eyes. Thats when I called out "Look" and we stopped talking about The Scarlet Letter. In every class for the rest of the day all we did was watch the news, I went home after school and continued watching the news, it was on every channel.
Posted by: JKeller at September 10, 2007 9:03 PMI was pregnant with my second baby, almost due, the day it happened, and I was in my livingroom when I first saw it on Fox News.... and at the doctors office watching coverage on it. (My daughter was born 1 week after Sept. 11).
For something sorta gutwrenching but nonfactual, check out Jon Stewart's first episode after 9/11.
Posted by: prettyinpink at September 10, 2007 9:58 PMWow... thats all i really have to say...
Off the topic
I had a little heart to heart with one of my classes last week about myself and their behavior towards me. I said something the extent that I was trying the best I could to be a teacher they like. That they needed to understand that. They also needed to understand that I was away from my family and friends and everyone that I care about and that cares about me. I got choked up just like Jon Stewart did and showed a little emotion. That was the QUIETEST i had ever seen that group of students. I am dead serious. I could have heard a pin drop. Some people say showing emotion is a side of weakness. But in this case with my students, they saw me as a human being instead of someone who teaches them math.
I agree. When I saw that I had a much deeper respect for Jon.
The audience was eerily silent...like us all..
Posted by: prettyinpink at September 10, 2007 10:52 PMJM, thanks for telling that story :)
Posted by: prettyinpink at September 10, 2007 11:00 PMI don't have any respect for John Stewart. He makes a mockery out of our poltical system, aside from being a pompess ass to conservatives.
Posted by: jasper at September 10, 2007 11:12 PM*Jon
Did you watch the video? Much less the show?
Stewart doesn't say his show is the "no spin zone" or say that it is meant to be serious political commentary.
The whole point of the show is that it makes fun of everything about our government. It's a fake news show!!
He makes fun of everyone. But you wouldn't know that if you don't watch his show...
Posted by: prettyinpink at September 10, 2007 11:44 PMIf you have any doubts watch him on crossfire.
Posted by: prettyinpink at September 10, 2007 11:47 PMThis one is a tear jerker

jasper- that clip would surprise you. It doesn't matter if you like Jon Stewart or not- in that clip you see a New Yorker who is struggling to deal with the tragedy all around him. Think liberals are heartless? Watch that speech. Watch Jon Stewart have to stop several times because he's close to tears. Nothing else really mattered that day- not your political persuasion, not the color of your skin, not your religion. Just the trauma that brought us all together. Yeah, we picked up fighting with each other quick enough again. But for a while...
Posted by: Erin at September 11, 2007 6:16 AMThis was posted on a board that frequent.
It's a commercial, it aired only once, and I tear up every time I watch it:
Laura, that was a cut tribute! I loved it where the horses bowed. * touching *
