Roger from FamiliesAgainstPlannedParenthood.org took photos of Planned Parenthood Aurora's nonopening party last night, with, of course, pro-lifers were on hand to also celebrate.

See more photos on page 2.
Meanwhile, the Aurora Beacon reported today....
City officials said Tuesday they will not ask Planned Parenthood's staff to vacate their East New York Street building, despite the expiration of their temporary occupancy permit Monday."At this point, the city has opted to maintain the status quo," said city spokesman Carie Anne Ergo.
Ergo said ordinarily, a building owner in violation of the occupancy permit ordinance would be asked to vacate, and most comply willingly. If they do not, the city usually seeks a court order to remove them.
However, since this case is already before a judge, Ergo said the city has decided to leave things as they are for now. Planned Parenthood/Chicago Area filed last week for an emergency preliminary injunction that would have allowed their new facility to open Monday....
Aurora-based lawyer Vincent Tessitore wrote a letter to city staffers Tuesday, demanding the city enforce its ordinances. Tessitore said he got no response.
But as Eric Scheidler just pointed out in an email alert:
AT THE VERY SAME TIME, the police are out there telling us we can't have memorial crosses and signs -- in direct contradiction of an agreement reached August 30 with the City's attorneys. And last Friday, the City even went so far as to try to get a federal court to block our prayer walk, calling it a "residential picket"!
They're doing everything they can to construe the City Ordinances so as to limit our Free Speech Rights, but letting Planned Parenthood illegally occupy a building!
Eric is requesting Aurora residents call, email, and fax Mayor Tom Weisner now to cry foul, telling him to enforce the law against Planned Parenthood.
Mayor's Tel: 630-844-3612
Mayor's E-mail: mayorsoffice@aurora-il.org
Mayor's Fax: 630-892-8967
Then call, e-mail and fax City Attorney Alayne Weingartz with the same message:
City Attorney Tel: 630-844-4777
City Attorney Fax: 630-844-4737
City Attorney E-mail: aweingartz@aurora-il.org
OpenLineBlog.com added this observation:
Not sure if this means that any building owner will have the same opportunity in the future or if this means occupancy permits are a formality, but city spokesgirl Carie Ergo has been AWOL for comment.

Comments:
This is such an obvious double standard that its sickening even if divorced from the fact that Planned Barrenhood exists to rip baby's arms off and encourage teen sexual activity.

The "scary looking" woman is praying that the abortion mill stays closed. Since PP was playing "open-house", she walked onto the property, to the end of the parking lot praying. The security guard came up to her and walked her off the property.
"What is she holding in her right hand?!"

I hope they forwarded your threat to the FBI for investagative purposes. Does Jesus approve of terrorism in the name of the almighty blastocyst? Your heroes Eric Rudolph and Paul Hill seem to think so.
As did Clayon Waagner, that dude who mailed the fake anthrax to over 700 abortion clinics back in 2001.
Posted by: J. A. Baker at September 20, 2007 3:41 AMLook, J.A., the quote of mine you used could hardly be construed as a threat, let alone something that should be forwarded to the FBI. I was merely pointing out that the city seems to be picking and choosing which of its own laws it decides to enforce.
I am not, however, surprised at your over-the-top reaction given the nature of description you and your cohorts apply to peaceful protesters and concerned citizens. Calling us all radical is painting with an incredibly wide stroke - not to mention ridiculously inaccurate.
How on earth did you manage to make the silly leap of logic stating that Eric Rudolph and Paul Hill are my heroes? (Or the heroes of anyone else?) Where have you seen that besides, perhaps, the media blitz by misinformed persons on the pro-choice side of the issue?
If we are going to make that leap, though, perhaps I can suggest that Hitler is YOUR personal hero. After all, wasn't it Margaret Sanger who said "...human weeds,' 'reckless breeders,' 'spawning... human beings who never should have been born." (Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization, referring to immigrants and poor people) In fact, "Sanger believed that, for the purpose of racial "purification," couples should be rewarded who chose sterilization. (Birth Control in America, The Career of Margaret Sanger, by David Kennedy, p. 117, quoting a 1923 Sanger speech. )"
"Racial purification" sounds a great deal like Hitler's goal. Using your own brand of logic I am coming to the conclusion that all people who clamor for the pro-choice side must be Nazis.
Yet I would never claim such a thing because it is illogical and in accurate - something I am not interested in promoting.

Posted by: Andrew at September 20, 2007 8:36 AM"She's pro life (if you're talking about the woman in the picture). She has a STATUE OF MARY and green ROSARY BEADS."
So what? They took out an add in the paper asking people to pray for them!!! Why is it so far fetched to believe that she was praying FOR PP? You realize that you seem to think it is unthinkable as well.
Posted by: rosie at September 20, 2007 10:12 AMJust a quick note from an actual attendee at the open house...(btw, I am actually of child-bearing age, not that has anything to do with anything, and I took my two children with me).
I went from around 5 o'clock to about 6, after which I had to leave and take my two daughters home for dinner. It was fairly well attended, approximately 30 to 40 people coming and going.
Frankly, there were less forced-pregnancy advocates hanging around outside than there were PP supporters.
I can't wait until the clinic opens and begins providing health services to low-income women who need it. It will happen, and it is a good thing. Yes, PP provides abortion services, but that's only the smallest part of what they do. The counseling and health care services they provide probably prevent more abortions than the forced-pregnancy crowd has ever dreamed of doing.
Posted by: Carol at September 20, 2007 10:55 AM"Forced pregnancy?!?!" Is that what it's being called now? Well, at least we know creativity (if not morality)is alive and well.
The ONLY time I would even consider using such a term would be in the event of rape. According to most abortion statistics, as of 2004 only about 1% of abortions are performed because of rape or incest. The other abortions are because people willingly and knowingly involved themselves in sexual activity. Nobody FORCED them to have sex, therefore nobody FORCED them to become pregnant.
Posted by: M at September 20, 2007 12:48 PMM: Nobody FORCED them to have sex, therefore nobody FORCED them to become pregnant.
And nobody should force 'em to stay pregnant.
Posted by: Doug at September 20, 2007 2:04 PMI think that forced pregnancy is the most apropos term, especially considering that the prime mover behind the Aurora PP protests is Eric Scheidler, who is vocally anti-contraception.
So....if you're anti-abortion, but you're also anti-methods-to-prevent-pregnancy, it seems that you're pro-forced-pregnancy.
Posted by: Carol at September 20, 2007 5:48 PM"So....if you're anti-abortion, but you're also anti-methods-to-prevent-pregnancy, it seems that you're pro-forced-pregnancy."
OK, it is becoming more and more clear to me that logic is not a prime consideration for pro-choice advocates. Has it not occurred to anyone here that such a thing as abstinence exists? Nobody is holding a gun to people's heads forcing them to engage in intercourse for the purposes of "forced pregnancy." This is so ridiculous I can't even believe I'm entering into this discussion.
Posted by: M at September 20, 2007 5:57 PMThey're voluntarily having sex, and some of them want to voluntarily terminate an unwanted pregnancy. Some people want to force them to stay pregnant for awhile longer. That sounds like forced pregnancy to me.
So instead of pro-life and pro-choice we now have pro-aborts and forced pregnancy advocates.
Posted by: Hal at September 20, 2007 6:07 PM*sigh*
And that's what it always comes back to for you people, isn't it? Disapproval of sex is pretty much the ultimate issue for the forced-pregnancy crowd. Well, that, and getting the chance to force your own values on everyone else. So much for that Christian doctrine of free will, huh? Oh, that's right, it's free will for thee but not for me.
Sorry, M, but there are people who actually enjoy having sex, and some of us don't plan on stopping just for the purpose of not having kids. Why should a married couple abstain, for instance, in order to prevent pregnancy? Answer: they don't have to, because contraception is legal, as is abortion. However, your side would like to see all of that end. My side isn't going to let you do that. Thankfully, there is a fairly large and vocal faction of people in this country that women are human, and have sovereignty over their own bodies.
Rosie, you seem to think it unthinkable for a person who doesn't look like your typical soccer mom to be able to share your views.
"She's hideous, she must be unable to find a husband so she must hate all women who have husbands and have babies with their husbands!"
Posted by: JKeller at September 20, 2007 6:12 PMJK,

Honey, you need to read for comprehension. Rosie commented that the PP employees were too old to have children. And I basically commmented that lots of old people have children. Even people that consider choice a thoughtfull and needfull governmental decision. Have children that is. Does that help you find your way out of the woods?
Hmmmmm......a woman standing outside of a Planned Parenthood, holding rosary beads and a statue of the virgin Mary, could her "Stop Abortion Now" poster be far away?
C'mon. You guys go on and on how us "pro aborts" can't *possibly* be Christians, because our souls are as black as tar and the devil is holding us in his death grip, but suddenly you want to say "well, maybe she's praying *for* PP", to justify some of the things you "saintly" people have said about her.

Posted by: mk at September 20, 2007 8:51 PM"Disapproval of sex is pretty much the ultimate issue for the forced-pregnancy crowd."
I so love these leaps in logic. Yep, you got us. Those of us who are against abortion (or, shall I say, for "forced pregnancy?") all hate sex. What ever was God thinking when he invented that odd act? Forget that we actually engage in the act ourselves and even (gasp) enjoy it. All the same, we disapprove. Tsk.
Now let's get serious, shall we? The ultimate issue for the pro-life advocates is actually life. Go figure. We do not believe that one human should have the right (or desire) to terminate the life of another. That holds especially true when that life belongs to an unborn innocent.
For pro-choice advocates the ultimate issue is actually selfishness. (And just for clarity, here is a verbatim copy of what the dictionary has to say about the word 'selfish': "1 : concerned excessively or exclusively with oneself : seeking or concentrating on one's own advantage, pleasure, or well-being without regard for others
2 : arising from concern with one's own welfare or advantage in disregard of others ")This pregnancy is not what I wanted, so I will make it go away. Was that me having sex? Why yes it was. Did I know that having sex could result in pregnancy? Why sure I did. Did I care? Nah........ it's all about me and the moment and what feels good. It's all about me.
It's really a shame all of life can't operate in that manner, isn't it?
Frankly, I'm pretty tired of all of this nonsense about "it's legal so it must be ok." There was a time when slavery was legal in this nation. Did everyone agree on this? Hardly. Did we finally come around on this issue as a nation? You bet. Who is to say, as a young man I know put it, that 100 years from now we won't look back at this time absolutely horrified that abortion was once legal? Stranger things have happened.

Why? What is your motivation? How do you fantasize that my abortion or my 'god's' abortion has any impact on your life?
How have my mother's 3 pregnancies terminated by god effected your life? How did the fetus that strangled on it's umbilical cord during birth effect you? How did the hydrocephalic effect you when it was born with a brain crushed to mush? How did the one born in rotting little pieces effect you?
Your precious and loving god killed 6 of my mother's 'babies'.
And you get all outraged when a woman says no to such possibilities.
Yea, the world was all skippy when men left gestation up to God. @@
And legalizing abortion would have saved your mothers six children, how? And not believing in God kept them from dying, how?

You have some bloody big balls to attempt to tell my 83 year old mother when she has miscarried/given birth to fetii that might have been children. But you are Catholic and that is expected of you folks. You folks finally declared the earth to be RCC blessed the world to be round back in the 1980's. Way to catch up to the 1670's men in frocks!
Are you a complete odiot MK? Do you not know that any failed gestation can make the next attempted gestation less likely to be succesful?
What? The RCC will study that in their attempts to catch up to the 1800s while avoiding the icky poo poo girl stuff?
Let's face it. People don't want an abortion clinic in their neighborhood.

I don't have a problem with that. Better a clinic than a bunch of morons 'going to church' and parking across my driveway, backing up over my curbs and taking out my horticultur endeavors while screaching their tires and driving away.

First, most (and I say most because I am not a doctor but have asked several)contraception devices i.e. the "Pill" and IUD, things of that nature, prevent IMPLANTATION, NOT CONCEPTION. Therefore, pro-life advocates are against these because life begins at conception and if you conceive but the baby is not able to implant in the uterin wall it is a "spontaneous abortion."
It is not an easy decision to forgo modern methods of contraception in order to not get pregnant. But I believe it is all a part of having a better relationship with your spouse to find another "outlet" - and "making out" is kind of fun!
But really, our ability to control our desires is the ONLY thing that separates us from animals. (Well that and the opposable thumb.) There is no reason that we HAVE to have sex. And sex for the sake of wanting sex is immature.
Yes, accidents happen but having had a couple of "accidents" I can't imagine my life without them.

I've had miscarriages too. I guess I look at them as a lesson. It makes me appreciate my living children even more, as I'm sure your mother appreciates you even more. I have a sister with a mentally handicapped child and than child has taught my children more about tolerance and compasion than I could have hoped.
Do you want to live in a world of "perfect" people or the "real" world? No one will meet everyone's criteria of "perfect." In a world where everyone wants more, needs more, and kids are more selfish, it's important to have an understanding of why things happen.
I'm not sure that you believe in God, but if you do and believe that Jesus suffered and died on the cross, why wouldn't you think that we all suffer in our own way?
I have had friends that get upset because they can't have children and I have healthy children. But I ask them, how do you know one of my children won't get cancer? Or they won't have a horrible accident? Everyone has their cross to carry. I only hope that if or when I do get mine, I carry it and not my children.
