New Planned Parenthood Aurora timeline
UPDATED post...
In federal court today, Planned Parenthood Aurora lost its motion to force the City of Aurora to let it open. Judge Norgle allowed Aurora to complete its investigation into PP's alleged fraud first.
So what is its timing? According to the Daily Herald, today...
... [T]he soonest the controversial center could open is near early October - and that's assuming the city's review shows clinic officials were not deceptive in how they got a permit to build in the first place....
How did the Herald arrive at that date?
Aldermen launched their review after abortion opponents claimed Planned Parenthood deceived the city by hiding its true identity in its permit applications....But the city's review has hit several bumps: the first and second attorneys chosen by officials have both run into potential conflict of interest issues.
In the latest twist, Kane County State's Attorney John Barsanti was asked to review the reports of both attorneys.
Those reports should be in his hands by the end of the week. It'll take another week for Barsanti to review them.
But it appears PP won't wait, which shouldn't surprise anyone. PP doesn't give up a milimeter of ground without throwing all the PR and attorneys its money can buy to battle against that. While certainly pride is one reason, the larger reason is any loss on any aspect of abortion is a strike against Roe v. Wade, the gateway to PP's deadlihood.
So in a statement on PP Aurora's website today, PP Chicago CEO Steve Trombley promised to return to court:
Today's ruling by Judge Norgle means that Planned Parenthood will be back in court to present additional material, facts and information that substantiate our request for an injunction to open....We anticipate being back in court shortly, and as per the judge's recommendation, we intend to amend our complaint. Judge Norgle's ruling was very narrow in its scope and he encouraged us to amend our filing and represent our case. In his words, "This case is far from over."
We are confident that when the additional material is reviewed, our health center will be allowed to open its doors.
So expect PP to announce a revisit to Judge Norgle before Aurora completes its investigation.
And what if the City finds PP was deceptive? Stay tuned. Our goal is for neither PP nor any abortion operator to ever inhabit that building.

Bethany: Doug, for what it's worth. I'm sorry I've been so grouchy with you lately, but I wish for one minute you could see how frustrating your posts can be.
I'm sure if we were talking about ANYTHING other politics, we would all be getting along great. Obviously, you're a nice guy. I hope you never get the impression that we hate you, because we don't. But we do get rather frustrated with you. That part probably will never change. lol
Bethany, I hadn't seen this until just now, way back on the "#1 story Fox.." thread, and I appreciate it.
Don't worry about being grouchy - it wasn't bad at all. I have no doubts my posts are often frustrating to you and others.
I think that is because I'm not making the same unprovable assumptions you are. That's not to say it is "bad" to make them, either - we all do it to some extent.
Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty furious (and frankly, just stubborn) "posting" days and I was burnt-out after them.
Today I had to go clear around Pittsburgh to sample a transformer, just since another guy messed up and forgot to do it last week. : /
Also was trying to program a variable-frequency drive for one of our vacuum pumps, and it went late last night and I worked on it today until 9 p.m. or so, and still don't have it right. Gotta call the manufacturer tomorrow and find out why I can't set one thing that needs to be set.
So here I am, still in the office and have to be back here in less than 8 hours.
Thank you.
Doug

I am LOVING your quotes...
Jill,
I think you may have typed the date wrong...?
~ Obituary in the Religious Herald upon the death of 15-year-old William Taylor White on January 24, 2852, after a short illness, as quoted by the Associated Press, September 20.
MK, whoops! Thanks... :)

The greatest flaw in our relationship is that we always agree...You could at least have played "Doug" and argued with me about the date for a while!
Also from the Tribune article linked to in this post:
[Planned Parenthood lawyer Christopher] Wilson noted that Aurora did not launch its investigation until after hundreds of people crammed City Council meetings to oppose the clinic.
Quite right, he is, that the city's investigation wasn't formally launched until 122 pro-lifers addressed the City Council and Mayor Weisner on August 28.
But Wilson implies that the city was somehow strongarmed into launching the probe into PP's dealings with the city.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the very point of democracy to allow citizens the right to voice their opinions to--and even, yea, actually influence--their elected officials?

Now Mary Kay, I figured you were okay with a future Associated Press release being known in advance. After all, it can't be proven that it's not going to happen.
Nostradamus.
Posted by: Doug at September 21, 2007 8:37 AMDoug,
Okay, you made me smile...but this doesn't mean we're not at war...
That quote does sound like something Nostradamus would write though doesn't it...could mean anything. Might even have been talking about Nero or Hisler!
"Thus is cut off, in the morning of his days, one in whom many hopes were centred - and who had the fairest prospects of happiness and usefulness in life."

MK, I'm thinking John Bobbitt.
Posted by: Doug at September 21, 2007 9:20 AMThat's because you believe that that particular part of John Bobbit's anatomy was "human"...

thanks MK...Jill found that one which is posted today...

MK, who, logically, would not? Defined: "of, relating to, or characteristic of humans," then obviously it was.
Plus, some guys personify things to a degree.
