Halle Berry promotes fetal ultrasounds

It was an odd promotion, but I'll take it, Halle Berry's October 12 appearance on David Letterman , which made TV's Top 5! today:

Powered by AOL Video

Berry also had this answer to the question, "What beautiful discoveries are you experiencing [about pregnancy]?" in an Inquirer.net piece published yesterday...

halle.jpg

It's an amazing feeling to know that a life is actually growing inside my body. The first time I saw the ultrasound image, I saw the little bones and the legs and I realize that that's part of me. That it's alive and it's in my care. This protective motherly instinct has taken over. I'm very protective of my belly area now. I'm very careful about where I walk and what I eat. I try to get enough rest.

While unmarried Berry is a poor role model for black women, already in crisis with a 70% illegitimate delivery rate, her baby is a blessing nonetheless. And I'll take her free advertisement of the value ultrasounds bring to reveal the humanity of preborn babies and also enhance parental bonding.

Go Halle, go Halle!! She's from Bedford,Ohio. yay! She's a real class act.

I'll bet it's a girl.

Posted by: heather at October 15, 2007 10:19 AM

Also, please note how women talk about pregnancy. It's not a "fetus" it's a baby. It's a "little life." You guys must know this! Whenever people saw my pregnant tummy, they asked "When is your BABY due." Never ever did anyone ever say "When is your E/Z/F due?"

Posted by: heather at October 15, 2007 10:43 AM

That's WONDERFUL news for pro-lifers! We should start a letter-writing campaign to Halle. We could encourage her to start her own pregnancy blog. Maybe she could involve her "best friend", Oprah, and appear on a few of Oprah's shows through out her pregnancy.
If Oprah became Pro-Life, Wow! (You know, "As Oprah goes, the Country goes".) Imagine the possibilities. Does anyone know any of the Oprah Show producers?????

To continue my thought above. Oprah is best buds with Barak Obama.... Do you think it's possible??? O.K., I'm dreaming...

Isn't it great news, Gabby?

I have frequently e-mailed Oprah asking her to show America the truth about abortion. After all, she did a special on the Holocaust and at the end, the words "Never again" were on the screen. Oh really? NEVER AGAIN??? Ok, talk about Darfur and the Holocaust and all these terrible genocides but ignore the one happening in America and then say "never again." Yeah, I think we SHOULD start a letter writing campagin - to OPRAH!!!! (The one to Halle is a good idea too). Oprah has a big influence on this country, and if SHE shows America what abortion really means, what it is, and what it does (not only to the babies, but the the painful consequences that people have to live with) things will change for SURE!!!!!

Posted by: Melissa at October 15, 2007 12:22 PM

"...things will change for SURE!!!!!"

Things will not change. Too many Americans are in favor of legal abortion, and against government intrusion into such decisions.

Just 2 things

1) Definition of Genocide:

Genocide is defined as "any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, as such:"

* (a) Killing members of the group;
* (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
* (c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
* (d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
* (e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

Note Foetus =/= Nationality, Religion or racial group.

2)Oprah is Satan.

Thanks for your excellent post, Melissa. I'm thrilled to hear that you've tried to contact Oprah about showing America the TRUTH about abortion. I have a few ideas. We can start PRAYING RIGHT NOW for Oprah's conversion. We could flood her office with Pro-life literature, including photos of unborn babies. We could tell her how Planned Parenthood protects child predators and passes out dangerous abortion pills free to teens "just in case". We could send her Planned Parenthood propaganda and tell her how we're fed up with them lying to our kids!

FYI, the Families Against Planned Parenthood web site has information on a talk that is being given by an expert on what Planned Parenthood is telling our teens. It will take place place on Wed., Oct. 17, in Geneva, IL at various times for adults, a.m. and p.m. and teens, p.m.

Posted by: Gabby at October 15, 2007 1:01 PM

First, Jonathon 12:46,

Oprah is NOT satan. I don't agree with everything she says, but I wouldn't go that far. It's rude. I'm not sure how your definition of genocide relates to Oprah.

and Hal 12:36,

You,ve gotta be more postive.Things CAN change. Slavery was outlawed, right?

Posted by: gabby at October 15, 2007 1:15 PM

Hi Gabby.

"You,ve gotta be more postive.Things CAN change"

I think Hal was being positive, at least in his view. He's pro-choice. But I will certainly offer up my prayers in union with your own, and hopefully one day we will defeat the evil of abortion. God love you.

Posted by: Bobby Bambino at October 15, 2007 1:54 PM

"We can start PRAYING RIGHT NOW for Oprah's conversion"

Yeah, that will work. Like praying to stop abortion, how's that working out?

Posted by: Hal at October 15, 2007 2:51 PM

They dont relate. they are two seperate points. It just seems like people here dont understand what Genocide really is since they keep claim abortion = genocide.

Posted by: Jonathan at October 15, 2007 2:53 PM

Eugenicists like Margaret Sanger tried to use abortion for the sake of genocide.

Hal said: "Yeah, that will work. Like praying to stop abortion, how's that working out?"

It took 400 years for the Hebrews to be freed from slavery in Egypt.

If that's your timeline, I'm less concerned with your movement.

Posted by: Hal at October 15, 2007 3:52 PM

Oprah, Ah, where do I begin? I kind of like her, but sometimes I think she's a fake. I have heard her story about being raped at age 14, and then giving birth to a stillborn. Sad indeed. However, she sympathised with baby killer, Jessica Coleman. The teen who stabbed her son, and tossed his dead body into a quarry. She only lives one city away from me, so I got to hear all of the local news updates. The good people of the community paid for the burial of her son while she was off with a new boyfriend. I think she's one of those "smile in your face" types.

Posted by: heather at October 15, 2007 4:03 PM

Hal, I wanted to know if you were ever able to view the "REAL CHOICE" abortion video. Erin watched it. Laura did too. How about "The Silent Scream?" Hal, you sure can talk the talk, but you have PROVEN that you cannot walk the walk.

Posted by: heather at October 15, 2007 4:06 PM

clarification: Oprah is one of those "smile in your face types."

Of course not, as by nature, you pro-aborts are all unbelievably selfish creatures. You don't care if the fight continues after your death, because you don't care about anybody except for Hal.

John, SLAM!

Posted by: heather at October 15, 2007 4:29 PM

John, Hal SAYS a lot, but he COWERS at the truth.

Posted by: heather at October 15, 2007 4:36 PM

Hal 12:36,

Abortion is only legal because the Supreme Court MISTAKENLY declared an unborn baby an "it" and not a person on that fateful day in 1973. Abortion has never been acceptable in any civilized society as a moral good. I don't really care if "everyone is doing it" (my words). If we don't stand up for what is true and good what are we here for?

Posted by: Gabby at October 15, 2007 5:09 PM

"Of course not, as by nature, you pro-aborts are all unbelievably selfish creatures. You don't care if the fight continues after your death, because you don't care about anybody except for Hal."

That's not it at all. I'm just thinking in 400 years (which is quite a long time) there won't be unwanted pregnancies, or there will be a very simple and safe way to terminate those that do occur.

In my opinion, If you take the world population as a whole and apply point (d) (see above), I can see where one could equate abortion with genocide. It's exactly that.

Gabby, that wasn't me that brought up Genocide.

To ALL PRO-ABORTS who support Planned Parenthood and the like,

Do you realize that by giving Planned Parenthood so much power over the culture of this country (It's everywhere!!) that you are allowing them to effectively kill your own (offspring)? Maybe you and Planned Parenthood are not on the same side after all.

Oprah is Harpo spelled backwards. Like Hal, she also thinks backwards about some things; she is not Satan, but if she continues to do his work, she will get her share of his wages. In spades, given the wide sphere of influence she has created for herself.

Ironically, Oprah is one of the babies that Hal and even many "pro-lifers" would have killed, because she was conceived by rape. She obviously thinks rape babies should be given life, since she is alive herself, but will she speak out for the others, like a fair, honest human being? Noooooooooooooo...nada chance in hell. It would hurt her ratings too much. Like Hal, she cares about herself; everybody else is just useful, or not, to her. Either that or she's dumb as a post, and I don't think she's that stupid.

BTW,Laura doesn't walk the walk, either. She watched Silent Scream, but has been parroting the same old proabort tripe trying to discredit it ever since. Interestingly, the man who performed the abortion depicted in the silent scream found it quite believable. The day after it was filmed, he saw it, and vowed he would never do another abortion again. Another outspoken deathnik who saw it at that time had her views considerably altered by what she saw.

But what goes around tends to come around; perhaps someday Laura, et al, will be just as viciously attacked and when she opens her mouth to scream for help, someone watching will debunk her just as she has debunked the victim in this film. They'll question the maturation of her brain (even without reading her posts), and reference the movement of her mouth as "a coincidental reflex action", and any sound coming out as "signifying nothing". Or maybe no one will be there to hear her, due to abortion.

**Jill, can you remove my post from 5:24? I incorrectly directed it to Hal. This one replaces that one. Thanks.

"Ironically, Oprah is one of the babies that Hal and even many "pro-lifers" would have killed,"

I would not have "killed" her, but I would have allowed her mother to terminate the pregnancy if she wished.

" She obviously thinks rape babies should be given life, since she is alive herself, "

That doesn't follow at all.

Been pondering that same Oprah campaign myself. She's bold enough to have all sorts of injustices aired on her show...why not abortion? Invite Jill as the guest speaker on "What the Nurse Saw".

Hal, I think that enough people admire and respect Oprah enough to pay attention to a possible episode on the negatives of abortion...maybe even change a few minds.

Not yours, of course, but others just might.

Glad to hear you're pondering the Oprah campaign. I wonder if her doctor friend, Dr. Mehmet Oz is pro-life??? He's a cardiothorasic surgeon.

Doug says, "Of course abortion is not "genocide", by definition."

I have to disagree. There's an excellent article on this subject, "Why Abortion is Genocide" by Gregg Cunningham. Check it out at www.abortionno.org_abortion

Gabby;

The problem is you cannot take "the world as a whole" or else it is not "Genocide" but Self destruction. also, no were in the western world is abortion "forced". no one is made to do anything. Not Genocide.

Jonathon said:

How about calling it "GENTICIDE" OR "INFANTICIDE"? It's still KILLING.

There ARE women and girls who ARE FORCED against their will to have abortions. Sometimes it's the doctor or nurse holding them down, sometimes it's their abusive husband or molester threatening their life. You say that no one is forced to have an abortion. Certain groups in the "western world" (Planned Parenthood, NOW, NARAL, etc.) are certainly to blame for having lied to women, telling them that abortion EMPOWERS woman, when it in fact does just the opposite. Planned Parenthood is only concerned about furthering their agenda and they are going after younger and younger girls every year. Women need to learn to trust themselves and put their trust in GOD. Our lives weren't meant to be easy, but they weren't meant to be EMPTY either.
God bless you.

Because abortion is NOT an injustice.

Posted by: Hal at October 16, 2007 11:18 AM

Speaking of Oprah,
Dr. Christiane Northrup was a guest on her show today. If you haven't heard of her, Dr. Northrup is a New Age, holistic doctor who has written several books on women's health. In one of her books she states (I'm paraphrasing) that she USED TO do abortions, but quit doing them NOT because there was anything WRONG with it, but because she just grew TIRED of it. Huh? If you're pro-woman, you DO NOT want to buy her books. Mine went in the trash a long time ago.

Posted by: Gabby at October 16, 2007 12:00 PM

One question:
How can you claim to care so much about babies, yet still call some of them illegitimate? Do you actually know what that word means?

Posted by: Liz at October 16, 2007 4:30 PM

Anyone remember seeing the episode where Oprah invited the governor of Illinois(?) where she basically ripped him up for releasing death row prisoners (or something to that effect)? It's been a few years so I can't remember the exactly's.

At any rate, some viewed his decision as just while others viewed it as abhorrent. See what I mean Hal?

As for abortion not being an injustice, it all depends on who's getting chopped, doesn't it?

Clash of the valuations.

Posted by: CARDER at October 17, 2007 1:23 PM

Hal,
Suppose you and wife hadn't aborted #1 an #4. How worse/better do you think you guys would be now? What effect would it have today?

I know, it's all hypothetical, what's done is done, but has it ever entered your mind, the "could've, would've, should've"?

Posted by: carder at October 17, 2007 1:27 PM

Gabby,
I never owned a C. Northrup book, but recall perusing through one, saw that she was pro-choice, put the book back on the shelf, and muttered, "Next."

Waste of trees.

Gabby, the definition of the word excludes the unborn and abortion.

Never enters my mind. I suppose we would have not tried to have "child 3" (real child 2) as we would have already had two children. If we then got pregnant again, given all the health concerns,I'm sure we would have aborted. If we had not (which I guess is your question) then we'd have three kids instead of two. The world would be pretty much the same,we'd just be a little more tired than we already are.
