A week before the National Right to Life Committee endorsed Fred Thompson, I blogged he had disqualified himself from my list of presidential primary picks following his Nov. 4 interview on "Meet the Press" with Tim Russert.During those moments, Thompson revealed he's in the same death camp as Rudy Giuliani, just with more exceptions.
Between that interview and one on Nov. 18 on "This Week" with George
Stephanopoulos, NRLC endorsed Thompson and clearly tried to tutor him.But it failed. Thompson unsuccessfully tried to pull one of three coffin nails he'd hammered two weeks prior, while he pounded another harder. I was left more curious than before about NRLC's decision.
Nail One....

Read it. Vote Ron Paul.
When are conservatives going to see the light and get behind Huckabee? He is the logical choice for the pro-life camp. I encourage you, Jill, to endorse him as soon a possible. If you have already endorsed someone, I apologize. I am very interested in your choice. Greetings from the High Country of North Carolina.
Posted by: Brian at November 28, 2007 8:55 AMOK, I don't know about you guys, but when I read or hear Thompson's statements...I am totally lost...they make absolutely no sense to me, and I have no idea what point he is trying to make!
Posted by: AB Laura at November 28, 2007 9:36 AMSadly, I think Jill is spot-on about this. I like Fred, but he and Ron Paul both put state's rights ahead of the baby's lives, IMO. And that just isn't right.

Posted by: TexasRed at November 28, 2007 11:18 AMA big Repube debate is tonight, the CNN/YouTube one.
I'm always astonished at how seldom the people on this board even watch the debates, and then are STUNNED when the big guys laugh at your agenda.
Good column. I had the same reaction to the Russert interview. I thought I was the only one. Thompson supporters seem to be going over to Huckabee ("the religious left").

quote of the day
Human dignity... can be achieved only in the field of ethics, and ethical achievement is measured by the degree in which our actions are governed by compassion and love, not by greed and aggressiveness.
~ Franklin-Covey daily thought, by Arnold Toynbee, November 27

Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko in "Wall Street.":
The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed -- for lack of a better word -- is good.
Greed is right.
Greed works.
Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit.
Greed, in all of its forms -- greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge -- has marked the upward surge of mankind.
And greed -- you mark my words -- will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA.
Thank you very much.
Great article Jill. I have often brought up this point that it is not that much of a comfort for the US Supreme Court to throw the abortion back to the States because it is absurd to allow States to decide life and death issues.
If it is acceptable for States to decide whether it’s legal to kill your own child, then I believe States should decide if Slavery can be reinstituted. Add to that list, people that society does not want around, the elderly, the handicapped or mentally retarded... after all, it’s up to the States.
The Federal government has a compelling obligation to see to it that no one is deprived of their life or liberty.

You are indeed an insightful lady and the babies are blessed to call you “friend” - as are we!
