Morrison's dual affair

Cartoon by John Francis Borra, used with his permission

The Associated Press, today insinuated Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison's downfall was due to scorned pro-lifers....

Abortion politics made ground already slippery for erring AG

Attorney General Paul Morrison's political career seemed to collapse with shocking swiftness when he announced his resignation only six days after admitting to having an extramarital affair with a former subordinate.

But his downfall has been more gradual, and it occurred against the backdrop of the intense debate over abortion in Kansas. His victory last year in the attorney general's race left hard feelings among abortion opponents, inspired them to generate a near-constant debate about his activities and watch for any indiscretions.

Morrison gave them a sex scandal.

Let me get this straight. Morrison's "downfall" had nothing to do with his clearly biased cancellation of an investigation and felony charges against Tiller?

And it was pro-lifers who launched the "near-constant debate"?

My, the AP is suffering from serious short-term memory loss. It has forgotten Morrison ran for AG solely on the issue of then-AG Phill Kline's investigation of George Tiller and Planned Parenthood for illegal late-term/underage abortions.

The AP has also forgotten Morrison's run came after the abortion industry went public to create hysteria by lying that Kline's investigation would result in the names of aborting mothers being publicized.

The AP thinks we're the obsessed ones, when Morrison went so far as to pressure his mistress to spy on Kline.

But hey, I'll take the credit. Let the abortion industry and pro-abort politicians be put on notice that in this day of the Internet, blogs, and increased transparency, they may not be getting away much longer with buying each other off.

Comments:

...And it looks like Morrison is going to be replaced by Chris Biggs.

Out of the frying pan, and STRAIGHT into the fire!
Funny how these things work out.

The AP is corrupt and in bed with the abortion industry and with liberals in general, they can't be trusted.

Posted by: jasper at December 17, 2007 10:31 AM

Just proves that proaborts are lowlifes generally. Surprise, surprise!!

well, Laura, You can bet that Chris Biggs will likely have a few skeletons in the closet too! It probably won't take too long to finger them and bring him down....

Uh...he had an affair? Why do we care? Isn't it kind of a personal matter? You don't want us to jump all over every molesting priest and gay-propositioning Republican, you can't jump all over everything like this. It really should be a matter between him and his spouse, don't you think? If you're all sinners, how can you justify judging a man for something like this? Yeah, he shouldn't have cheated. But blowing it up like this isn't going to help anything.

Posted by: Erin at December 17, 2007 12:21 PM

I am going to concur with Erin on this one.

It's really no one's business but him and his wife's. If the use of his office (i.e. had the affair there or used State money, than yes it's everyone's business).

Leave the poor man alone.

Posted by: midnite678 at December 17, 2007 12:37 PM

The problem here is twofold: it's an issue of poor character and the fact that Morrison attempted to get his lover to spy on Kline to aid him in his work.

Posted by: Patricia at December 17, 2007 12:42 PM

Yeah, that is true Patricia. But the keyword is attempted.

Posted by: midnite678 at December 17, 2007 1:06 PM

midnite,
from the article above: "The woman involved, Linda Carter, said their affair lasted two years and included encounters in hotel rooms and at the Johnson County Courthouse."

Looks like it just may be everyone's business!

Posted by: AB Laura at December 17, 2007 1:08 PM

AB Laura- um...doctors are famous for having affairs in their examining rooms. And pretty much anyone ever who's been involved in an extramarital affair has used a hotel room. Unless people were actually being subjected to seeing the act, it doesn't affect them.

Posted by: Erin at December 17, 2007 1:10 PM

Erin, sounds like you have some experience here....which do you like more? The hotel or the office? I bet you are a motel fan. Rough sheets. Coin operated bed.

Posted by: PeachPit at December 17, 2007 1:26 PM

Uh...that is massively out of line, PeachPit.

Posted by: Erin at December 17, 2007 1:30 PM

Just sounded like you knew something we didn't...that is all.

Posted by: PeachPit at December 17, 2007 1:31 PM

Or maybe I read?

Posted by: Erin at December 17, 2007 1:33 PM

I suggest Affairs for Dummies though it sounds like you have already read that one.

Posted by: PeachPit at December 17, 2007 1:39 PM

This is ridiculous. Mod? This is definitely way against guidelines.

Posted by: Erin at December 17, 2007 1:42 PM

Wonder why Linda Carter squealed on him? Maybe she finally wised up to the fact that he was using her?
I feel sorry for Mrs. Morrison. My heart goes out to her.

Posted by: Patricia at December 17, 2007 1:44 PM

There's a good one you can read, too, PeachPit.

It's called "Manners for A$$h*les". You could use it. Erin didn't attack you in any way. There's ways of disagreeing with her, and expressing that disagreement civilly, without attacking her character.

Posted by: Lyssie at December 17, 2007 1:45 PM

Erin,
ummmmmm, I believe the taxpayers do pay for the courthouse. Who was the hotel paid for is questionable. Did the taxpayers?

Posted by: AB Laura at December 17, 2007 1:49 PM

Laura- if it is that kind of issue, I agree, that's a problem. There's nothing in this article that suggests that he had embezzled funds to fuel his affair. I'd assume he simply used his own money. If not, then I'd be all over him too. I need to see some proof of that, though. It seems to be an unsubstantiated accusation at this point.

Posted by: Erin at December 17, 2007 1:56 PM

I was not attacking character. It was my way of pointing out how people can just throw anything they want on blogs like this one without thinking twice about it. Where does anyone read the habits and rituals of affairs? She just made it up. From her imagination and movies.

Linda Carter ratted out Paul because he took back his engagement and said he was going to stay w/his wife. I suggest everyone go to cjonline.com and read the first article. Great way to get some facts before posting. Not taking sides, just a smart thing to do.

The affair started when he was a republican.

Mod, I was just referred to as an a$$hole. I'm sickened by that.

http://www.infidelity-help.us.com/section.php/about-the-cheater/

Actually, PeachPit, it took me five seconds, two clicks, and an "AHA!" to find information on the habits of someone involved in an extramarital affair, from a site dedicated to helping spouses cope. If I may ask you to click the link, Erin's post seems all too true. Hotels and workplaces are listed as "prime cheating grounds". So before you make snide remarks about another person (Wait, is "Affairs for Dummies" appropriate, either?), do YOUR research first.

Try a google search. It might yield some information for the habits and rituals of cheaters. Good day.

You should sue. Apparently people who use naughty language should lose their livelihood.

Lol Midnite. It's just that I hate it when people just dismiss other's ideas without a second thought, as if they just won't accept an answer because it challenges their ideas of the world (or if it "sounds" made up...good, because gut instinct is always the way to go...*rolls eyes*). Especially when those ideas turn out to be true, and the offending party doesn't want to accept the truth. It's also quite disconcerting to have them dismiss others' ideas in an attempt to make said others feel stupid.

Posted by: Lyssie at December 17, 2007 2:53 PM

I completely agree Lyssie.

You should talk to Yllas about that.

Whoo! I'm back from my errands and I now have everything I need to make yummy chicken alfredo for dinner, and some books on brain chemistry from the library! I decide every Christmas season that I'm going to learn everything humanly possible about one issue that seems to be way over my head. Last year it was quantum physics- that was a month long headache, lol!

Posted by: Erin at December 17, 2007 2:58 PM

Erin,

Apparently you should learn more about the intricacies of cheaters. *wink* *giggle*

That's awesome. I bought my boyfriend a book on brain chemistry for Christmas. He should enjoy it (I love my nerdy boy SOOOOO much). :D

Patricia 12:42PM,

I must agree on the issue of spying on Kline. Even if it was only an attempt, he was willing to use his affair with this woman to spy on Kline, and to take advantage of his situation with her for his own purpose. What would stop him from pulling the same stunt again, maybe he'd have better luck with another woman he's romancing.
Though I wouldn't consider her any babe in the woods, I'm glad Ms. Carter finally realized she was being played for a chump by this skunk.

Man, I physically lack the CAPACITY to cheat. I have a wickedly out of whack sense of loyalty. I even look at another dude when I'm in a relationship and I start to feel guilty. It's ridiculous.

Awww, I

Jill, your site doesn't let me use the little less than three heart. It cuts me off.

But, Lyssie, I was saying that I heart nerdy boys, and I want one!
