They'll show us. The New York Times reports today that abortion mills in Spain began a 5-day strike yesterday....
Private clinics in Spain, which perform most of the country's abortions, began a five-day strike on Tuesday to protest what they said was persecution by anti-abortion campaigners and government inspectors, who have swept clinics in recent weeks to crack down on illegal terminations.The strike... involves about 40 clinics....
The strike could affect as many as 2,000 women.... The number of abortions in Spain has doubled in the past decade, to about 100,000 a year....
The raids followed the arrest in December of Carlos Morin, a gynecologist who ran a group of clinics in Barcelona and who was secretly filmed by a Danish journalist apparently agreeing to her request for an abortion in her seventh month....
One private television producer released a video, said to have been made in a Madrid clinic, that showed an abortion at 21 weeks.
I previously blogged on that video, lamenting it wasn't translated into English. Just checked, and someone coincidentally did that 2 days ago:
The abortions start at 7:50. We see many correlations in the U.S., including collusion with psychiatrists to conjure a mental reason to abort late-term.
Back to the strike, what is the abortion industry trying to prove, that without them Spanish life will grind to a halt?
Actually, it's they who grind Spanish life to a halt.

And you can tell yourselves that this is Spain and not America...but you'd be lying to yourselves. This is the face of "choice".

Also, to those who tell us that the abortion 'doctors' are "kind" with a nice bedside manner, and therefore are caring and honest people...well, this doctor had a nice bedside manner too. That's easy enough to do. Notice how she cheered the woman on during her abortion? Really sweet, huh? Sweet for the doctor, that is... It's not so difficult to be cheerful and nice when you're getting paid loads of cash under the table for 10 minutes of work. That doctor has no concern for the welfare of that woman. It is all about the money she will make out of the abortion. The patient is only a number to her.
Speaking of strikes, is anyone else ticked that the writer's strike means that the Golden Globes are being reduced to an hour long news show?
Posted by: Erin at January 9, 2008 2:59 PMI am so, so sad. I'm crying right now for all the poor souls.
Posted by: Kristen at January 9, 2008 3:12 PMWhat, for the writers?
Posted by: Erin at January 9, 2008 3:15 PMI know Kristen. It's heartbreaking. What's worse is that it can be rationalized away. I don't know how that doctor managed to stay undercover. I would have broken down...
Posted by: mk at January 9, 2008 3:19 PMErin,
Be nice. Brat.

Nooooo...
Posted by: Erin at January 9, 2008 3:35 PMThanks MK. For what it's worth I really felt for you yesterday. I'm sorry I didn't come to your rescue. I could see both sides and felt that anything I said would be misconstrued.
The video (and the subject in general) are incomprehensible to me. And responses like Erin's (sorry Erin) that used to make me angry just make me pity the people who make them now. It's the cycle of the blog. When I first found Jill's site I think I wrote some inappropriate comments but seeing how the PCers invariably make light of an issue that is so grievous to me has been a lesson God has taught me. "Love your enemies." And while I admit it's not so much "Love" yet as begging Mary's intersession for their souls I've mellowed now and truly do cry for them. I'm ultra emotional, and always have been. Pretty much any sappy song and Hallmark commercial can get me going, but I'd rather be a sap than a stone.
I admit that one of my New Year's Resolutions is to be a bit more like you. So I think you're doing alright.
Love ya MK.
Gee, if someone posed as a medical professional, secretly filmed my genitals, and then posted that footage on the internet - I'd be really angry.
And violent.
And litigious.
And THEN I'd go after his innocent family members...
If someone illicitly filmed you daughter's goods and posted them on the internet, what would you do?
Posted by: FetusFascist at January 9, 2008 3:44 PMI think I'd be more peeved that she was killing my grandchild, FF aka Laura.
Posted by: Elizabeth at January 9, 2008 3:47 PMKristen,
That was too nice. And you probably shouldn't run for president.
That's the thing I was trying to say yesterday. That you can't hate someone for not understanding something. We might have to say it 6,000 different ways from Sunday until someone, somewhere (Rae, SamanthaT, Pip) really hears it, but we can't stop trying. It's too important.
If we only look at the babies, and forget about the women (and their souls, whether they believe they have them or not) then we are exactly what the pro choice side calls us. Fetus obsessed. Of course I care about the babies. Of course I care about stopping abortion. But it can't be the sacrificing of the mothers for the babies. We have to love them both.
And no worries about not jumping in. I accepted the job as moderator and it ain't always pretty. I actually smelled roses yesterday while I was cooking dinner and kept asking Mary what she was trying to tell me. Then when I looked at the posts, I saw that I was smelling the roses right about the time that things started to go bad...
She is always with us, as is He. I am only one woman, and I can only do what I can do.
thanks again for the nice words. And now, onward!

Do you mean before or after the shock of realizing that I had just watched my grandchild slaughtered?
Personally, I'd probably go after her.
Posted by: mk at January 9, 2008 3:49 PMKristen,
Great minds? Oh and by the way, don't try to be more like me. Try to be more like Kristen. She's great!
Posted by: mk at January 9, 2008 3:51 PM"... But it can't be the sacrificing of the mothers for the babies. We have to love them both."
Yes, my "poor souls" included the mothers and the doctor.

At it again! Are you done torturing animals for today so you decided to stop by and torure everyone on this site? You are such a cockroach you just won't go away. Or better yet, you remind me of a stale horrible smelly fart that just lingers in the air offending everyone.
I'm out.

Posted by: Elizabeth at January 9, 2008 3:56 PMOh, oh! I just remembered something I saw this morning that I made a note to tell you guys. So, I'm driving down the road and some baptist church has one of those little marquees, you know? And it says in big letters "Staying in bed shouting "Oh, God" does not constitute going to church"
I don't know if they have a really awesome pastor, or if vandals got to it, but it was HYSTERICAL. I almost had to pull over from laughing so hard.

I see signs like that on Protestant churches alot. Can't think of any now, of course, but they are really clever.
Did you pull over and go in? :)

Posted by: Erin at January 9, 2008 4:36 PMErin,
Ah well, you can't blame a girl for trying...
Heh, I go to church on Christmas Eve! Also, I'm still good friends with the Pastor at my parent's church. He's the funniest man I have ever met in my life. He gives children's services with a stuffed monkey named Fred. One time, he was talking about when he and Fred went down a water slide, and he was actually down on the floor in front of the congregation, flailing around like a huge dork...SO funny!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Every year I go with a pack of my coworkers to a "Blessing of the Animals" on St. Francis of Assisi Day. It's always a blast, and the priest who handles it is hysterical. Then the Hispanic ladies in the congregation make huge mounds of the planet's best Mexican food.
Posted by: FetusFascist at January 9, 2008 4:52 PMErin,
I'm pretty sure they hold services every Sunday...;)
Posted by: mk at January 9, 2008 4:52 PMLaura, I always take my dog to the blessing. My kids love it and my six year old was just appalled that a dog pooped in the church since he isn't even allowed to pick his nose!
Wish they'd add the Mexican food though. (Not to the poop, but afterward.)
Posted by: Kristen at January 9, 2008 5:08 PMHow long have the abortionists been on strike? Have the streets of Spain begun flowing yet with the blood of the coathanger-impaled women? Remember, according to the abortion lobby, women are like Pavlovian dogs when it comes to abortion -- if the thought so much as crosses their mind and you don't have a canula on hand and start vacuuming, they'll reflexively reach for a coathanger and do themselves in.
Surely the news shows in Spain will have reports every night of hundreds of dying women.
Posted by: Christina at January 9, 2008 5:19 PMIf only the US clinics would strike in sympathy.. they really should show some solidarity!
Posted by: LB at January 9, 2008 5:31 PMLB, we can only hope!
Posted by: Kristen at January 9, 2008 5:58 PMI join their strike! I'm not doing abortions either!
Posted by: Jacqueline at January 9, 2008 6:22 PMBy the way, not working for 5 days isn't a strike, it's a vacation. A strike is when you refuse work until your conditions are met.
They stopped working for less than one week, but no longer. They have to get their blood money.
Posted by: Jacqueline at January 9, 2008 6:24 PMAre abortions illegal before viability in Spain?
Posted by: Carol at January 9, 2008 7:15 PMfetusfascist and or Erin... I won't respond to your mockery with sarcasm. It would be a slight on the souls of all the women and children who have suffered so much because of abortion. And with God as my strength, I will never sit silent against such a tremendous human tragedy. Before I make any judgements, I would like ask a couple questions to find out if you are even genuine.
1) What are the ages of your children (if you have any)?
2)Have you had any abortions? How many? How far along in the pregancy were they? to have the abortions before you had ever given birth, in between children, or after you had children.
Truthseeker,
It is my understanding that Laura has never had an abortion, and has no children. Although she is very close to and protective of her nieces and nephews.
Last year, Erin, who has no other children, lost a twin to miscarriage and aborted it's sibling. She is really young yet, so time will have to tell if she has more kids or not.
Laura is not married and I believe never has been, but (lives with?) with a partner and has for many years. She is actually pretty conservative when it comes to sexual partners. She truly is one of the those women who is for abortion rights "on principal" and not for any personal reasons...
Erin is not married, and never has been. I don't think she is seriously seeing anyone right now, tho I could be wrong. He ex, and the father of her babies, is a guy named Danny. Quite a character that one, and he holds a very dear place in my heart. I think it would be safe to say that the abortion affected him more than Erin (at this point in time)...
Posted by: mk at January 10, 2008 6:03 AM*rolls eyes* Everything affects Dan more than it affects anyone else. He is such a drama queen. He has a personal vendetta against being happy.
And I am a happy single girl right now ^_^
With the amount of homework I have a night I don't have time for silly boys anyhow.
"Every year I go with a pack of my coworkers to a "Blessing of the Animals" on St. Francis of Assisi Day."
Isn't that kind of like stepping onto enemy territory for you?
Posted by: carder at January 10, 2008 6:34 AMErin,
Saw your picture on the other thread. Very pretty. I remember Dan being a good looking guy on the 'net, you know, the one of him posing w/ MK and Jill back in the summer.
Which just makes me even sadder about the whole affair (no pun intended).
I know you felt she was insensate, but she would have been sooo cute.
Erin, you are too cute! You are JUST as I'd pictured you! However, I did picture you with red hair and freckles.
Posted by: heather at January 10, 2008 7:46 AMErin, since you are Irish I am guessing you were likely raised a Catholic, would I be correct?
Posted by: truthseeker at January 11, 2008 3:24 AMNo, dude, I'm adopted. I was raised Lutheran. Probably would have been Catholic though. I think most the Irish people in Wisconsin are Catholic.
