What I did on my college break

We've been chronicling the Denver Families Against Planned Parenthood protests of various executives helping build the Denver Planned Parenthood mega-abortion mill.

On December 29, they were again protesting the home of Bill Hornaday, president of The Weitz Company Rocky Mountain division, the PP project's general contractor, when his son appeared, home from college. What a sterling example his father has set for him. Hope the big, fat bonus is worth it.

At any rate, father and son packed up and left right after the group arrived, son shielding his face from the video camera with a newspaper. As Will Duffy, group organizer, said in an email to me, "Who would want to put up with this?" I agree. And they certainly don't have to.

Here's a funny addendum. The Greenwood Village City Council, where Hornaday lives, recently passed ordinances trying to stifle pro-life protests, limiting length of stay, number of protesters, etc. So on New Year's Day, pro-lifers protested the home of Jerry Presley, ringleader of the city council First Amendment squash attempt. He promptly called the police, but the group was following the rules, so they couldn't be stopped....

Denver rocks..we REALLY need to take some notes.

Right on, Elizabeth...and rock on, Denver prolifers!

While gratuitous effrontery is rude, crude, inappropriate and unbecoming to civilized people, I disagree with Troy Newman (in the quote of the day) that the graphic abortion photos are bad for a community. If abortion is being openly and legally committed/sought in any country, city, or neighborhood, then that locale loses all fair claim to being regarded or referenced as civilized people.

They may not be good for business; but what's bad for a community is to cover up serial killings in progress. Deal with the killings; then you can legitimately dispense with the graphic evidence of them; but not before.

Children (and, for that matter, businesses) can get over seeing "those pictures"; what no one ever recovers from is BEING "those pictures".

I've also sometimes sat and wondered, (in my artless, Japanese way) just how many contractors and construction workers have been killed, in utero, by PP and ilk. Well, seems there's a way to estimate: the equivalent of the total population of some 17-18 states has been killed by reported legal induced abortion since 1973. Seems all you'd need to do is take 17-18 states whose populations total 50 million, and add up the number of contractors and construction workers in that sector, and you'd be close enough to count...

"Who would want to put up with this?" I agree. And they certainly don't have to.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes, they should change their behavior and lifestyle so that you will approve of them and stop making them miserable.
If we all obeyed Osama and acquiesced to his demands, he would be happy with us and not make us miserable.
Will you be renouncing Christ and converting to Islam today? The faster we make Osama happy, the better our lives will be!
Posted by: jasper at January 8, 2008 4:20 PM
It would be one thing if Laura presented us with any evidence that she posts for any other reason than to try to get prolifers to change their behavior so that she will approve of us/acquiesce to her demands, taunts, etc., renouncing showing the graphic truth of the violence of abortion, and make her and the rest of the proabortion cartel happy.
And, it would be another thing, too, if we, like Osama, were targeting the innocent for destruction. But, again, that's the abortion cartel's top priority...which is why they want the evidence suppressed
I ate one, it was delicious. then I went hiking and bouldering with my boyfriend. I went to my friends New Years Eve party. Oh we also had a Christmas party. One with my family, one with my friends. It's been good.
My Mom was talked out of it by a pro-life Doctor.
"Did your Mom mean for you to hear it?"
No, I don't thinnk so, but the wifey told me.
"Also, do you hate your Mom now that you knew she considered abortion?"
No, and I don't hate women who had abortions. But I want to warn them about the abortion industry and tell them the truth about abortion.
"Don't you consider that the same as her saying, "I hate you and want you to suffer and die."
No, when have I ever said that about Mothers who abort?
"I mean you must think terribly of her considering what you thought she was going to do to you."
No, because I believe she was being duped by the lying abortion industry ( and radical feminists ) who have cleverly pursuaded women that abortion is Ok. But now, with the new media (internet, etc) the pro-aborts don't have the MSM to cover up their lies anymore.
If you are 40 you were born in 1967. Your mother did not have access to a legal abortion. She had no choice but to gestate you. You might want to ask why she considered an illegal abortion. Knowledge is wisdom.
For every 1000 europeans in 2000 there will be 230 in 2100.
The abortion industry duped an entire continent into virtual cultural suicide.
I hope the immigrants appreciate the invitation to repopulate. Wonder who they will be.
Why should europe fear terrorists? They kill themselves far faster and hand their nations over to whoever is willing to be their temporary underclass.
Ok…this is too damn much. We get a lecture for being snippy and rude and mere hours later jasper is under attack on one thread from Carol and Sandy is defending herself from Laura….and they both are maintaining composure while the other side is resorting to lambasting and cruel sarcasm.
I’ve had it. If the PL’ers who run this site think it’s good form to slap us into submission while enduring this garbage spewing from the usual suspects then this blog isn’t worth the time it takes to read it, let alone post here. I’ll go find someplace where I can speak with friendlies.
fetusfasces,
Ive only been on the blog a few days but Iv'e seen you get a quite a few people upset. You appear to enjoy it. Did someone close to you who you were dependent upon treat you that way. You blogs seem to be insensitive to others and you appear to either be blind to it or enjoy it.
Relax. Take a deep breath.
Carol, and Jess are you Fetisfishy's cohorts in corruption. Let me ask you all a question. Isn't it awesome what they are doing in Denver? Aren't those guys great!! Shining the light on the truth and exposing the abortionists and the people who support them. It's a shame they were able to snake their way into Aurora undetected isn't it? Looks like they had some inside help from the mayors ofice to get in undetected. Isn't it exhilirating and exciting. Just seeing those pictures of them makes me wanna grab a "Planned Parenthood lies to you" sign and head down to Oakhurst drive.
Posted by: Truthseeker at January 9, 2008 4:10 AM
Hooves,
If I had been on when that was going down, I probably WOULD have spoken up, but I was feeding the kids and putting them to bed...
At any rate, I don't expect as much from the other side as I have said. They are our guests. Remember the scene in "To Kill A Mockingbird" when that kid poured maple syrup all over his roast beef?
The point is, I'm not here to babysit. And I'm sorry that you saw my posts as lectures. As I said, this site has been molded to be a place where the other side can come and not be ganged up on. That can change. If the majority of posters want this to become just another insult swap filled with nastiness and meanness, I won't stop them. I just won't be part of it.
I can't believe you left over this.
I can't believe everybody is pickin' up their gumeyeballs and goin' home.
What does that say about us? When it gets unpleasant or tough or requires a little effort on our part, we quit?
I'm sorry you're leaving. If there is anything I can say, tell me. You've have made me laugh so many times I can't count them.
I told Rae on Sunday that you were the funniest person on this board. So I'm really crushed that it has come to this.
Moderating is not easy. You guys think it's hard being attacked by pro choicers? Imagine how it feels to be put in a position where your own side is angry with you. My job is too keep things at a certain level. When I see it escalating to a point that people are leaving, I intervene. I try to speak to both sides. But if I'm not here I can't do that. I missed the above exchange, and regardless, Jasper handled it like the gentleman that he is. He didn't need my help. And as you can see, by the end a perfectly reasonable exchange was taking place.
At any rate, I think I'll just back off and whoever stays, stays, whoever leaves, leaves. Obviously moderating is not possible if there are no "players" left...
I hope you reconsider and stick around. I look forward to the smiles you bring to my face.
I'll give you a gumeyeball...
Posted by: mk at January 9, 2008 5:49 AM
It would seem that the Choicers are all for creating strife and chaos on this site. They know that they can come here and "start something" and if it gets us riled up-GOOD! They seem to love what they do. Spreading hate. They are wrong and deep down they know it.
Posted by: Carla at January 9, 2008 6:21 AM
I've been a little out of the loop the last 2 days, sorry. 2 wakes and a trip to Chicago.
MK tells me some pro-lifers are riled by her general reminder not to provoke. She and I had discussed the fact Monday that one pro-lifer on this site habitually does that (provokes without being provoked), and we thought issuing a general appeal would do the trick. I've asked MK to email that person directly.
To those upset, please don't leave. We've enjoyed, learned, and been encouraged by your posts.
I agree some pro-aborts here can hurl low blows, and in that case we all can certainly respond, debate, and refute. I also appreciate when we turn the other cheek. I take what they say in stride. I would rather we talk, even if at some points we are treated uncivilly, than not talk. That's why we rarely delete.
So please stay. I would be very sorry to see any of you go. And I'm sorry, MK, that you took heat because I wasn't here to help.
Carol most illegal abortions were done by doctors. So talking to her doctor about having one isn't far fetched.
Hippie (I think that's who said it) is correct that abortion was legal in some states before Roe V Wade.
And your last two sentences on the above post just show your lack of intelligence and lack of respect that MK was talking about. Proving Hooves correct - it's not all the PLers.
Posted by: Amanda at January 9, 2008 8:34 AM
Carol - prior to Roe V Wade, most illegal abortions, as well as legal ones, depending on which state, were performed by doctors and midwives who also ran normal practices but let the word spread that they also performed abortions.
NYC is a good example of this - which is one of the misconceptions PP spreads which annoys me. Its in the history books - abortions performed by untrained hacks were FAR more rare than abortions performed by fully qualified medical professionals - its just that the methods back then were not as safe or effective as they are today, and a lot of times doctors or nurses would perform abortions outside of their medical office and in less sanitary environments, one of the most infamous being a convent where a group of Nuns ran an underground railroad of sorts.
A good book to read if you want a more accurate HISTORY of abortion in America without the propaganda from PP OR Pro Life Organizations is "Abortion Wars" - I forget the author, but its on Amazon.com
There were certainly women at all 5 of the New Years Day
protests. They may have been out of camera's range
in these snaps.
I was at 3 of the later in the day events and there were 4
or 5 women present.
Not that it matters. Anyone willing to protest those helping
PP slaughter the innocents is a champion of the faith in my book.
So what exactly is your point SoMG?
Jasper is trying to find Laura's home address for reasons unknown to the rest of us.
Remember the HUGE stink HisMan caused b/c Cam joked about getting his address.
That's not funny and is considered a threat...
Yes, she considered an illegal abortion.
again, what are trying to say.. If I wasn't wanted, she should've had the right to sentence me to death?
Posted by: jasper at January 8, 2008 10:26 PM
Yes, she did have that right. And you, as mindless insensate nonviable oblivious tissue and cell structure would have never known the difference. And if she hadnt told them, no one around her would have known the difference either. My mother considered abortion too. Her pregnancy was high risk, there were complications, she already miscarried twice and had been told she couldnt carry to term. She decided to try. But I never held it against her that she considered abortion. And I certainly dont obsessed about it decades after the fact or try to pretend that total strangers have some obligation to continue unwanted pregnancies just because I 'could have been' aborted.
No. You only have your opinion. And your opinion isnt more important than the opinion of the woman who is actually going to deal with the pregnancy. If YOU arent the one pregnant then YOU arent part of the decision making process. THAT is the TRUTH.
It would seem that the Choicers are all for creating strife and chaos on this site. They know that they can come here and "start something" and if it gets us riled up-GOOD! They seem to love what they do. Spreading hate. They are wrong and deep down they know it.
Posted by: Carla at January 9, 2008 6:21 AM
*******
What is WRONG is the hate that the antichoicers exhibit time after time after time. You have someone threatening to come to a pro choicers house and attack her as soon as you find her address. You think that terrorist threats and tactics are commendable and admirable. And harassing someone and attacking someone at their home is exactly that - its a terrorist attack. You want to try to abuse and bully and blackmail and intimidate and harass people to do what you want them to do and you think the end justifies the means. You dont care about anyone but yourselves and your personal unstable neurotic obsessions. The whole antichoice position is beneath contempt. Whimpering about pro choicers 'attacking' antichoicers on this site is about as laughable and hypocritical as it gets.
1967
California Therapeutic Abortion Act enacted. Allows a physicians' committee to approve abortions in cases where there is substantial risk that continuance of the pregnancy would gravely impair the physical or mental health of the woman, and in cases of rape and incest. Requires all abortions to be performed in accredited hospitals. Prohibits abortions after 20 weeks gestation. Also, causes Penal Code sections on abortion to be amended to exempt abortions which are in compliance with this act.
WHO a woman could go to for an illegal abortion depended on WHO she knew and how much money she had. A woman with money had options. A poor woman with little money wasnt going to be able to go to another country, or go to a doctor who performed abortions at a clinic or a hospital.
midnite, I think that's great. I can't believe that friendships are really forming here. I'm glad you're keeping an opened mind:]
Posted by: heather at January 9, 2008 10:53 AM
TexasRed -
here's the thing - theres absolutely nothing wrong with someone trying to encourage a woman to make the choice that they believe is the best one. If you are truly pro CHOICE, you would respect that some women will CHOOSE to go to a Pro-Life organization for help or advice, while other women will CHOOSE to go to Planned Parenthood or another organization that is not opposed to abortion.
So you can't fault those who are there to help women and coming from an anti-abortion point of view. They have every right to.
....HOWEVER... that being said, there is a Huuuuuuuuuuuge difference between being available as a CHOICE for a woman who may be pro life or leaning towards pro life, and someone who thinks its okay to protest at someone's home for being pro choice or associating with a pro choice organization.
Posted by: Amanda at January 9, 2008 10:54 AM
To Sandy and any other people who get attacked by pro-aborts. Keep in mund that many of the PC people who come to this blog are really insincere. They know pro-life people care and like to counsel and and they'll get you to open up so they can have fun ridiculing you. The personas they use are not real and they are not really disingenuous. Always remember that you never know if the people on the other side of an Internet chat are being genuine. I had a 6 hour chat with somebody the other night before determining they had been using a completely fictitious profile just to try and ridicule us.
I will do my best not to engage in personal attacks. So far the worst I have done is intentionally misspell the moniker of somebody who I believed to be insincere.
God bless you all and the peace of Jesus Christ be with you always.
I AM pro choice and I freely admit that abortion would be a bad choice for a whole lot of women. What is the best option for one woman can be the very best option for someone else. If a woman is pregnant and wants to continue her pregnancy then more power to her. If she knows she isnt in a position to deal with the demands of a pregnancy then Im not going to try to pretend I know more about her situation than she does. Each woman has the right to do what THEY think is best. I think BOTH women deserve to be told the truth, and not fed propaganda and misinformation. And I agree there is a huge difference between 'being there' if someone wants to COME to you for help and harassing someone and trying to intimidate them at their own home.
I don't like this y'all. We have to do what we can within our legal, ethical rights to save babies from dismemberment, but protesting at people's homes just makes prolifers look like assholes.
While I appreciate (on a very thin line) that their our Operation Rescue types out there, there are very distinct reasons why I can't count myself among them.
Jasper,
The problem with protesting outside a persons home is actually endless.
(1)You're punishing their family and neighbors
(2)You're not taking relevant cirumstances into debate (i.e. they gotta feed they're family too)
(3)You're punishing this person (or blackmailing them) b/c they have a different opinion than you. Or they could even be PL, but as I said earlier, they have to feed their family as well...
Isn't it awesome what they are doing in Denver? Aren't those guys great!! Shining the light on the truth and exposing the abortionists and the people who support them. It's a shame the abortionists were able to snake their way into Aurora undetected isn't it? Looks like they had some inside help from the mayors ofice to get in undetected. Isn't it exhilirating and exciting to see those pictures of what is going on in Denver. You don't have to be mean. Did your loved ones always show you their affection by abusing you. It shows that antichoicers are selfish, self absorbed, self centered, rude, inconsiderate, and think no one matters but them. They think they can do anything they want to anyone they want and its ok because the end justifies the means. Harassment, intimidation, blackmail, all are somehow justifiable and excusable.
Whining 'I was only kidding' is passive aggressive avoidance. You try to hide behind 'humor' because you cant take the heat from your original statement so you try to pretend 'I didnt really mean it'. You said I was angry. Thats a lie. That makes you a liar. Trying to pretend youre in a position to decide who 'needs help' is more than a little amusing. I wouldnt view you as an authority on what flavor of ice cream to buy, let alone on something significant.
"That's a lie. That makes you a liar."
Not necessarily. What makes you a liar is making a statement you know, or have good reason to believe, to be false. One could be honestly misinformed/mistaken/misled,...you know, like the women misled by coathanger waving proaborts into believing that legal abortions would be safe abortions. Like these women, who all died from their "safe & legal" induced abortions (Deaths dated prior to Roe v. Wade were from abortions done in states where it was already legal):
Diane Adams, 28, died 1992
Eurice Agbagaa, 26, died 1989
Leigh Ann Alford, 34, died 2003
Demitrice Andews, 22, died 1988
Apparently the coathangers waved by proaborts in advocacy of legal abortion have probably killed more women than coathangers used in self-induced abortion attempts. Again, the bitter irony...
Where did you find this list?
JTM, nobody told you that zero women died from having abortions. Of course, many more women die from continuing pregnancies and giving birth, both in raw numbers and as a percentage.
Any objection to abortion on the basis of "risk to the woman" can only logically be an even greater condemnation of giving birth.
