Breaking News: Killer abortionist's license yanked
This just in from the mother of Laura Hope Smith, who was killed by abortionist Rapin Osathanondh at Women's Health Center in Hyannis, MA, on September 13, 2007, as I previously reported....
Eileen Smith is reporting in an email that she just received a call from the Boston Medical Board of Registration telling her it pulled Osathanondh's medical license today, "because they view him as a risk to public safety."...
Osathanondh's license revocation will remain in place until the Board tries his case, at which time we hope it will be permanently ripped up.
Laura was 22 years old and 13 weeks pregnant when the one-man chop shop bottom feeder administered anesthesia alone while aborting her. Laura died on the table.
Eileen also reports the Boston Medical Examiner's Office finally released Laura's cause of death two days ago, five months after she was killed: "cardiac pulmonary arrest during anesthesia during a voluntary termination of pregnancy." Eileen agrees with the cause of death.
Eileen says the Board plans to issue a press release, so we'll soon be reading about this in the news.
"I can finally feel that my 5 months of efforts of pushing to be heard has reaped some justice for Laura," wrote Eileen in an email. "Please continue in your prayers and letting people know about what happened to my precious daughter and your wonderful friend."
UPDATE, 4:00p: The Medical Board just called Eileen to say Osathanondh has voluntarily resigned his license permanently and will never practice in MA nor any another state. By this, he avoids a Board hearing but still faces disciplinary action and, hopefully, a grand jury indictment.

Posted by: jasper at February 20, 2008 12:31 PMJasper, that would be funny if not potentially true. We'll see.
Posted by: Jill Stanek at February 20, 2008 12:36 PMTo my knowledge, this will not actually stop him from performing abortions. At least in Oregon you don't need a license to kill babies.
Posted by: Nathan Will Sheets at February 20, 2008 1:43 PMNathan,
That is so amazing. There was a story in MN just a few months ago about a couple of women who set up a shop to braid hair. Turns out they needed to be licensed to do that and had to go to cosmotology school for something like 1800 hours. There are hundreds of other services women recieve from professionals that cannot operate without a licenses ie. eye brow wax, manicure, pedicure, facial, hair cut.....
I bet I couldn't get my dogs nails clipped from someone who isn't licensed.
Posted by: Sandy at February 20, 2008 2:02 PMYou can clip your dogs nails yourself. Same with hamsters. I wouldn't recommend it though, them little paws wriggle around, accidents could happen.
But yeah women deserve good doctors and doctors who give them all their options and truthful accurate information.

Posted by: Carla at February 20, 2008 4:24 PMJill,
Thank you so much for sharing the e-mail with us.
My heart goes out to Laura's mom, Eileen. My thoughts and prayers will be with her & her entire family as they go through this difficult, yet rewarding time.
I look forward to continued justice for her beautiful daughter that I know I will never forget.
Posted by: JLM at February 20, 2008 4:51 PMJLM,
I share your sentiments. Thankfully Laura's death has not been in vain and other young women and their families have been spared a similar tragedy by getting rid of this hack.
You're right JLM, she was indeed a very beautiful young woman.
Praise God for this breaking news!
Posted by: Angela at February 20, 2008 9:54 PMI think we should prayer for this doctor as well. He voluntarily gave up his license. Maybe he'll turn pro-life - it wouldn't be the first time that's happened.
Posted by: Janet at February 20, 2008 10:30 PMJasper's quote of the day:
When it comes to fears about a terrorist attack, people in the U.S. usually focus on Osama bin Laden and foreign-based radical groups. Yet researchers say domestic extremists who commit violence in the name of their cause; abortion or the environment, for example account for most of the damage from such incidents in this country.

Dave Pierre from NewsBusters responded:
Let me get this straight: On September 11, 2001, terrorists brutally exterminated nearly 3,000 Americans, obliterated the landscape of lower Manhattan, and pummeled the headquarters of the United States's national defense. And since that same date nearly six-and-a-half years ago, pro-lifers have committed a grand total of zero murders, attempted murders, and bombings directed at abortion workers and clinics across the United States and Canada.
I read the AP article, who was responsible for the research?
I think we should prayer for this Dr.O. as well. He voluntarily gave up his license. Maybe he'll turn pro-life - it wouldn't be the first time that's happened.
Posted by: Janet at February 20, 2008 10:44 PMThis quack doctor isn't about to turn pro-life, so don't kid yourselves. He gave up his license to avoid a worse sentence. Period.
He obviously had no concerns for the women he was aborting, as is apparent by his working alone, with no one properly administering anaesthesia and God only knows what else.
While it would be nice if he DID become pro-life, I highly doubt it. He was in it for the money...nothing more, nothing less.
He'll find work at some seedy abortion mill somewhere else, and they'll hire him. How MANY stories have we read where guys like him start working at other clinics and continue the same things, EVEN THOUGH they have had their licenses revoked? The demand for abortionists is pretty high right now, so he'll find a job...no questions asked.
Sooner or later, we'll be reading about him again...for the same reasons, unfortunately.
He should be deported back to wherever the hell he came from.
Mike, it was about a year after Carol Everett sent Shary Graham home to bleed to death before she left abortion behind and turned her efforts to helping women. Some things take time.
Where there's life, there's hope. This guy can always opt for basic human decency. But if all he's expecting is snotty backhanded remarks, he's not about to reach out to us, is he?
Read "Won By Love," by Norma McCorvey. "And a little child shall lead them..." right out of the abortion business. Virtually the entire staff of A to Z.
Posted by: Christina at February 21, 2008 7:55 AMOne thing worries me: I wonder how "permanent" this surrender really is. I've seen I don't know how many cases of abortionists who turned in their licenses to shut down an investigation. They bide their time, then apply to get reinstated. Since there was never any official finding of fault, the event that led to the original surrender doesn't count against them.

Google Dr. Bernard Nathanson an abortionist who had a conversion of heart. It happens.

Amen, Christina!
Posted by: RSD at February 21, 2008 10:03 AMI wonder what he's trying to keep under wraps, that he felt better off just surrendering his license than risking the medical board uncovering it. We can only pray that the criminal investigation bring it all to light.
And that he becomes like Carol Everett, not like Steve Brigham, who surrendered his Pennsylvania license to practice, but turned into an abortion entrepreneur, opening one cut-rate mill after the other and staffing them with two-bit quacks nobody else will hire. If he pulls a Brigham, he'll be more of a danger to Massachusetts women than if he kept his license, because he'll be able to devote all his efforts to drumming up business for washouts he hires at bargain-basement prices. Brigham went from running two mills on his own to running a chain of them after surrendering his license.
