According to People magazine, May 30:
Angelina Jolie, who is expecting twins this summer, says being pregnant makes her feel womanly and sexy."It makes me feel that all the things about my body are suddenly there for a reason," she says in the July issue of Vanity Fair. "It makes you feel round and supple, and to have a little life inside you is amazing."
Plus, the actress says that her partner, Brad Pitt, "finds pregnancy very sexy. So that makes me feel very sexy."
The 32-year-old - already mom to Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2, - also says she is awed by what the human body can do.
When giving birth to daughter Shiloh, "I had a C-section and I found it fascinating. I didn't find it a sacrifice and I didn't find it a painful experience," she tells the magazine.
"I found it a fascinating miracle of what a body can do."
Do you agree pregnancy makes a woman "womanly and sexy"?

Posted by: Jill Stanek at June 1, 2008 7:47 AMI wouldn't know.
I know a guy that thinks pregnant women are totally hot.
Posted by: Rae at June 1, 2008 8:42 AMI always felt wonderful about my body even though I had serious morning sickness with the exception of the last pregnancy (I think that by that time God KNEW I was gonna need a break somewhere in my life!).
For one thing I gained lots of weight (over 50lbs) with each pregnancy so this was wonderful for me. I finally had breasts and nice arms!!
I think if Angelina Jolie could have a baby naturally she would be even more impressed. Although labor is no fun, it was amazing to see how if I relaxed and had someone who knew how to help me, everything just came together and it was so easy.
I also liked her statement about how she finally realises how all her body parts are there for a reason - took her long enough!
BTW, I'm not knocking those who have C-sections. I know they can be very much needed.
And I truly can't stand Angelina Jolie...
Do you agree pregnancy makes a woman "womanly and sexy"?
Yes.
It might be tempting to leave it at that, but at the risk of getting bogged down in just what "womanly" means, women are womanly and sexy anyway.
With pregnant women I think it makes a big difference how they feel about it, if they're happy being pregnant. If it's true that "pregnant women glow" then I think it comes at least in part from being glad.
Rae, you're already sexy.
Patricia, nice post.
I think that by that time God KNEW I was gonna need a break somewhere in my life!
Ha!
Best,
Doug

When the woman is six feet tall, primped for 5 hours and airbrushed by Vogue, then of course!
The rest of us, not so much. It's hard work being pregnant, IMO. Nothing glamourous about it. But, worth it!
Posted by: Janet at June 1, 2008 11:31 AMYES! I think pregnant women are BEAUTIFUL. Whenever I see a pregnant woman on the streets I can't help staring because I think pregnancy is such a gorgeous thing.
Posted by: Leah at June 1, 2008 11:40 AMYou people who think it's sexy- you obviously never saw me. I gained 70 pnds. Went from a nice size 10 to an only God and I know size! My skin, hair, and everything else went completely nuts. I never had a pimple in my life until I was pregnant. Hormones, physical changes, I'm talking everything went to just plain ugly. Then at the end I had preeclampsia and was so swollen all over you could barely recognize me- ended up in emergency labor too. Very scary situation but 3 epidurals and 26 hours later it was all worth it.
I like to say the baby just drained all the beauty out of me, and I couldn't be happier about it. I now have a gorgeous 7 year old daughter. She's reading two years above her grade level, kind hearted, loves Jesus, and really is beautiful. So who cares if I'm a wreck now? Talk about beauty from ashes. :) heeehee
Posted by: a.t.m. at June 1, 2008 12:35 PMAll the feminist's who push abortion, BC and the idea that pregnancy enslaves women must be groaning at this cover and the spin.
BTW, some of the comments on VF website about this story are quite something!
Sometimes pregnancy is beautiful. I think it's kind of gross though when women just sit around like pregnancy is cancer and eat "for two". I don't care if it is a person how much can even a full sized baby eat? I mean, up until like the sixth month it's smaller then you're thumb, you don't need to take in three more square meals.
Not knocking anyone who gains more then then "normal" weight during pregnancy, I put on like 10 pounds of bloat when I PMS, though it's down to about 5 lbs now that I started the pill.
Healthy people are beautiful people. If you love your body, accept it for what it is and take care of it, it will show. And that to me is the most beautiful thing.
P.S. Am I the only one who thinks it's a beautiful thing to see a woman breast feed? I don't care if they do it in public. But then again I think walking around topless should be legal.
My Mom never got stretch marks.

I think it is beautiful too. I've done it so I appreciate the dedication that it takes. There's also nothing cuter than a baby who is nursing!
My Mom never got stretch marks.
Is your Mom fair skinned? I think that makes a difference. It did for me, anyways.

You make me laugh! I am glad you made it through a difficult pregnancy, and that your daughter is doing so well!
Posted by: Janet at June 1, 2008 3:28 PMBeing pregnant was the BEST! 80 pounds baby! I didn't get stretch marks til the last month though. :sigh: The only thing that sucked was my skin was so stretched that it hurt if anybody touched it or I brushed up against something. Oh, and the constant peeing..that sucked. I remember after I had her I was only peeing a couple of times a day and I thought there was something wrong with my urinary tract lol.

Ewwww. I hear you sister! After 4 babies the only thing I have to complain about it some small thin varicose veins on my upper right thigh. No more shorts for me!

Shoot, I don't mind doing it myself....

YES
Posted by: truthseeker at June 1, 2008 5:41 PMTruthseeker-
You think that Jess is the only one who finds breastfeeding beautiful? I think you're wrong.
Posted by: Anonymous at June 1, 2008 7:00 PMI think pregnancy is incredible. I loved it and it was amazing having a human life moving and growing within you.
However, I do feel that saying that only women who can get pregnant or were pregnant at one time are more "womanly and sexy" than other women is wrong.
Pregnancy is beautiful, I agree, but I don't believe it is what makes women who they are. An infertile woman is no less a woman than a woman who has 18 children. A woman's worth isn't derived from childbearing because some women, who desperately would love to be mothers and have a maternal instinct, cannot.
I think it's kind of disturbing to think that some women get pregnant only for that "pregnancy high" (which does exist, the hormones make some women feel wonderful). Being pregnant is amazing, but it isn't what validates you as a woman.
Posted by: Christina at June 1, 2008 8:08 PMwhich does exist, the hormones make some women feel wonderful
Yep, but they can also make you cry at the drop of a hat. Literally. hehe.
Posted by: Elizabeth at June 1, 2008 8:14 PMYou obviously had a messed up childhood truthseeker.
On and BTW, I'm not having sex with my boyfriend and he still says he loves me. In your stupid face to everyone who said no guy could love me without sex!!!!
Posted by: Jess at June 1, 2008 9:47 PMNot that this means I'm going to marry the guy or stay with him forever.
Posted by: Jess at June 1, 2008 9:49 PMIn your stupid face to everyone who said no guy could love me without sex!!!!
Jess,
Who has said this EVER?
Posted by: Elizabeth at June 1, 2008 10:06 PMAnon:7:00: I think Truthseeker may have been answering Jill's question, not Jess's.
( Jill asked: "Do you agree pregnancy makes a woman "womanly and sexy"? )

Jess, Good for you!! That's the way it should be!!
Posted by: Janet at June 1, 2008 10:45 PMThanks for your post. Angelina Jolie looks great pregnant! So happy for her and Brad! Here's her interview on Fancast:

Posted by: Fancastgal at June 1, 2008 10:55 PMElizabeth, John McDonell and almost every conservative pro-lifer here said he's only going out with me for sex.
Posted by: Jess at June 1, 2008 10:58 PMLol, I hope truthseeker was referring to Jill's post. Every time I type truthseeker I feel like typing Jasper. Are they the same person? They sound like it.
Posted by: Jess at June 1, 2008 11:01 PMJess said 10:58: Elizabeth, John McDonell and almost every conservative pro-lifer here said he's only going out with me for sex.
Jess, I know what you mean, but you might want to clarify who "he" is. The way it is worded, it sounds like you are dating the whole PL bunch on Jill's blog! Lol.
Posted by: Janet at June 1, 2008 11:17 PMJanet, so many people here made references to the fact that they believed my boyfriend was only going out with me because we were having sex, and if we stopped having sex he would break up with me.
Posted by: Jess at June 1, 2008 11:33 PMI never read those comments Jess.
Posted by: Elizabeth at June 1, 2008 11:51 PMHave you read every comment ever posted?
Posted by: Jess at June 2, 2008 12:35 AMYES Janet was correct.
And I do find I agree with most of Jasper's posts
Posted by: truthseeker at June 2, 2008 3:14 AMIs pregnancy sexy?
All the weight gain, bloat, support hose, C sections. Naaaaaaaaaaa. But it's interesting.
At least ya get kids out of the effort.
Also being pregnant is like being on xanax. All the stuff won't bother you as much as you thought it would..
As for Dairy entrepreneurship: They squirt when you hear a baby cry, and make a mess, even with the pads. But still breasts are easier than bottles because babies like them more and both the portability and the nutrition are superior.
Posted by: kb at June 2, 2008 3:29 AMYes-- it's something uniquely womanly.
Is that really Angelina Jolie on the cover-- could have fooled me.
Posted by: MInTheGap at June 2, 2008 10:26 AMThat's not her on the cover. I think Jill just put it up because it has her name and she wanted to prove she didn't just pull it out of thin air.
Posted by: Jess at June 2, 2008 11:02 AMI felt exactly how Jolie described it - all 8 times. To tell the truth, I do miss babies and my younger pregnant body, but I think that's all part of it. Now I am enjoying 'vicariously' through my daughter-in-law, who was beautiful , in a different way, pregnant. I always think pregnant woman look beautiful, inspite of obvious fatigue etc. I associate them emotionally with the love I have for my 'babies' and every baby I see gets that same emotional response.
Teenagers are a totally different experience. : )

Are you referring to the image that Jill posted? Because that IS Angelina Jolie on the cover. Very airbrushed and made up. But it's her.
Posted by: Kel at June 2, 2008 1:50 PMKel: Doesn't she look like one of the first Barbie dolls, with the heavy eyeliner?
Posted by: Janet at June 2, 2008 2:53 PMAngelina.....so beautiful!

Posted by: Tony at June 2, 2008 1:06 PM------------------------ LOL!!
heather and tony, I already said I haven't had sex since I made the promise here a few weeks ago.
Posted by: Jess at June 2, 2008 9:35 PM
Let's put it this way. I weigh now what I did after my third baby and I can't fit in my old maternity clothes.
Angelina, who has the luxury of nannies, household help, chauffers, personal assistants, a staff of professionals who see to it she always looks gorgeous and an 8 figure bank account, can look gorgeous and find the time to dwell on the beauty of pregnancy.
I looked tired, big, swollen, and sick, had to tend to my own home and children and wouldn't trade it for anything. It was a beautiful experience each time.
The old testaroo.
