Recap of Pro-life Day of Solidarity

October 21 was the student Pro-life Day of Solidarity. How did it go?

Bryan Kemper of StandTrue.com reported 250,000 students on 4,700 campuses in 25 countries not only stood as silent witnesses to 1/3 of their generation now dead by abortion but for all babies aborted.

Bryan reported at least 49 babies were saved. Here are stories of a few...

  • "I attend a Baptist college so I knew I wouldn't get much of a chance to spread the word so after my last class I went down to the mall and was there for about 20 minutes before a group of teenage girls walked up to me and asked what I was doing. I handed them a paper and one started to cry. I took off the tape and asked what was wrong. I found out that 2 of those girls had just set up an appointment for an abortion. We sat and talked for almost an hour; it was clear that God was at work. Not only did these girls cancel the appointment but I had the privilege to lead them to the Lord."

  • "I went into my work Tuesday. My boss knew what I was doing and why. When I walked in he explained to a lady in line behind me what I was doing. I had my 4 year old little sister with me. I handed the woman a flier. Yesterday I learned she had passed that flier on to a co-worker. Little did either of us know that co-worker had an appointment for an abortion THAT AFTERNOON!! She canceled her appointment & came into my work Wednesday to talk to me."

  • "I was brutally picked on today, but I don't care, I'll do it again next year. Children will live and that's what I care about! I broke my silence today for a girl; she not only opted for adoption but talked another girl into opting the same way!"

And a couple other heart-warming testimonies:

  • "When I got back to class, I stayed silent - lunch was crazy, my white board got a lot of good use. I brought about 15 people who were wondering about what I was doing to one area and told them about it. After a heated debate with a fellow student, about 13 of them changed their views on abortion. Next year I'm going to hold a part-year club and it will be the most successful year of Silent-Day for me and for that school."

  • "Today was great! You could walk down the wall at school and see red tape everywhere. Very few people stayed silent it is hard not to talk for a day but having tape over your mouth helps. I had so many people come up and ask what the tape was about. I showed them my badge. I can't wait for next year. This day means a lot to me. I got pregnant when I was 15 and people told me I was ruining my life and I should just abort him. I didn't and I couldn't be happier. I've gotten my GED and am in college and have gotten a job offer for when I graduate. I'm proof that you can make it no matter your age and I want everyone to know."

It's good that these kids stand up for what they believe in

    Opps I forgot a period.

Honestly Amanda you hit the nail on the head but try getting them to think about it, lol.

    I thought Amanda was banned?
Maybe she's living in Osama's harem?

I believe these women are incredibly courageous to come out and stand up for their unborn sisters (and brothers). God certainly used some of them to touch the hearts of a few expectant moms.

The number of babies saved in now up to 55.

In other news, the US military struck in Syria yesterday, near the border of Iraq. It killed 8 people- including 4 children. The US army has not revealed any motivation for the strike.

Gee, the candidates you guys support will protect fetii, but once they're out of the womb, LET'S BOMB THE **** OUT OF THEM!!!

    Erin,
    That is terrible news.

Posted by: Janet at October 27, 2008 3:37 PM

Janet - actually that's a false report - US Special Forces were going after AQI and dropped into Syria. The action wasn't a bombing, it was a ground action.

It was a Syrian civilian building that was fired upon. Reports involve 4 helicopters. And I see no objection to the fact that our army murdered 4 children.

erin: this blog is about many prolife issues but not about the US military.
you need to find a military blog to vent your feelings....
maybe you can focus on the taliban's abuse and murder of women in Afghanistan
the abuse and subjucation of women in Syria, Saudi Arabia, the UE, Iran, Iraq and so forth...
oh I forgot! Feminist's are too concerned about getting these women the right to abort. Too bad they can't even go out to shop by themselves let alone get to a health clinic....

Patricia, if you are truly pro-life, then you'll also care about a corrupt military institution that is killing children under the name of YOUR country.

Posted by: Erin at October 27, 2008 4:18 PM

Please, ANY military is a corrupt military in your eyes. War is terrible, Erin. That's just what it is. People die and get permanently injured. That's the way it is. The military has to deal with things differently than, I don't know, blogging about it and debating our ideals. It's reality out there. And it isn't pretty. Get used to it.

    Again, terrible news.

I don't necessarily believe that the US military is corrupt. I know the MSM would like the entire population on the face of the earth to believe that the US military is corrupt. Inept at times - yes. But the US military has done a lot of good over the years and has helped many people in many countries.
As Elizabeth pointed out, mistakes happen and in war, inevitably, civilians are killed.

Posted by: Patricia at October 27, 2008 4:31 PM

Well, I guess the direct, honest answer is out of the question, so here's a more in-depth waste of my and everyone else's time.

The American military does not intentionally target civilians. Do civilians sometimes die as a result of what our military does? Yes. It is the goal of our military to kill civilians? No. Do our military men and women typically set out to target and murder civilians? No.

If rogues in our military do target civilians, they are not allowed to get away with it. They are put on trial for war crimes. They are jailed, or, in some cases, executed if the crimes are serious enough - and intentionally targeting and murdering civilians would be a serious crime.

Pro-abortion, American-military-hating people are interesting creatures. They delight in the intentional killing of the unborn while they pretend to be upset over the accidental killing of civilians by our military. When a missile launched or bomb dropped goes awry, when bad intel results in a strike on a civilian target, or when our enemies use civilians as human shields and in the process some of the civilians are killed, the pro-aborts shed crocodile tears over the dozen of civilians who are blown to bits. However, when 4,000 innocent unborn children in the womb are intentionally targeted for termination every day, the pro-aborts leap for joy. It's sick. And it takes a very sick person with a very sick mind to think that like.

The purpose of the Syria attack was to close up a border crossing that jihadis (Al-Queda) have used to cross over into Iraq to fight our soldiers and to kill innocent Iraqi civilians who cooperate with the US. Al-Queda is notorious for shielding themselves with women and children.

    Oh no Carla why?

Posted by: Jess at October 27, 2008 7:09 PM

What about 4,000 babies killed everyday in the US, before they even get a chance to breathe Erin?

I agree, 4 children being accidentally killed is a huge tragedy. Be careful how you use the word murder, it has a specific meaning.

We need to look at things in perspective.

"Be careful how you use the word murder, it has a specific meaning."

Boy, that's advice we could use a lot around here.

Posted by: Hal at October 28, 2008 10:14 AM

The specific meaning of murder is the deliberate, premeditated taking of an innocent human life. That would include every induced abortion, surgical, chemical, or otherwise (hitting a pregnant woman in the belly with a baseball bat, etc., ad nauseam.)

Posted by: just thinking at October 28, 2008 1:13 PM

I think "murder" includes the concept of illegal.

Posted by: Hal at October 28, 2008 1:33 PM

The specific meaning of murder is the deliberate, premeditated taking of an innocent human life.

Uh, no - you gotta have "illegal" in there some where, as Hal notes.

Posted by: Doug at October 28, 2008 7:08 PM

For the record, there's nothing in the definition of murder about innocence. It has to be illegal, premeditated, and human. Nothing about innocent, and the 'illegal' bit is very important.

In ancient Anglo-Saxon cultures it wasn't murder if you could compensate the family or community of the victim with their worth in gold. The more important the victim, the more gold you had to give them.
