I've previously blogged on Dick and Rick Hoyt, but at the Foundation for Life of Toledo banquet I spoke at last week organizers played a different tribute to the Hoyts I found touching to the song, "I can only imagine"....

To see that father's love just ...wow. Brings tears to my eyes every time.
I'm with ya, Bethany! When I saw the video the first time, I cried. When I saw it posted on here again, I was CERTAIN that I wouldn't get emotional. Boy, was I wrong! What a testimony!

Posted by: Carla at November 18, 2008 9:51 AMKind of like our Father in heaven's love for us.
Posted by: HisMan at November 18, 2008 10:27 AMawesome video and message.
It is the opposite of Darwinism, abortion and survival of the fittest.
People look upon suffering and think that it's to be pitied - others look upon suffering and it drives them to express a love and compassion that shames others.
It's just another form of the cross, where Christ carried us.
Posted by: Chris Arsenault at November 18, 2008 12:52 PMThat is the epitomy of "Yes we can". Not like the phony mesmerised Obamamaniac drones use the phrase.
Posted by: truthseeker at November 18, 2008 11:05 PMWhere are the prochoicers? They have nothing to say on this thread? hmmmmmmm
Posted by: Carla at November 19, 2008 6:03 AMCarla - it's leaving them speechless because they can't see themselves in that situation, either as Rick or Dick.
Jill - We need more beautifully conveyed stories of Life. They are out there, they just haven't been told.
There's something transformational when you contrast amazing love and compassion against brutal afflictions. That's the story of the cross. Christ's innocence, compassion and love being brutally slaughtered - then overcoming death.
Only the most cold-hearted human would say Rick shouldn't have the right to live because of his condition.
How many chose abortion when faced with a child's life-long affliction? How many never imagined it would bring out the best in them?
This is an excellent illustration of what I was discussing with you re: a network and what people are drawn to.
Thank you, Chris. My heart longs to see more of these precious people and hear their stories of compassion for the most vulnerable in our society.
Posted by: Carla at November 19, 2008 7:06 AMJill, loved seeing you at this event. You were very powerful.
Thank you for featuring this video on your site. It is just a testament to how each and every person is wanted by the one who knows all - GOD!!

Carla, it's a great story, and I've seen stuff on TV about them, even stuff on billboards.

That's silly, Chris.
I'm all for both of them. Pro-Choice is not saying "don't do it," and to the extent that it brings joy and reduces suffering for both of them, I'm all for that too.
