This is off-topic, but I have a question for anyone who cares to answer. I know that many people who are religious and pro-life object to IVF. What is the view on things like Clomid? Is there a pro-life objection to that for some reason? If not, is there a religious objection?

I know a few women currently using Clomid, and I was just curious. My sister has PCOS so if she ever wants to get pregnant she might have difficulty due to irregular ovulation, which I think is what Clomid addresses.

I know that question is random, but it's less random than the Steelers, so I figured I'm still safe asking it. ;) Although I will add that since I live in what is probably the only pro-Bengals apartment in NYC, I'll be supporting the Cardinals. I probably won't watch too much, though, since I always get depressed on behalf of whoever loses.

hmm, not sure Alexandra. It really depends. If a pregnancy results and there are multiple children growing, the doctor might suggest "selective reduction" which is just a fancy word for selective ABORTION.

The Dilleys (the family with sextuplets)had to use fertility drugs to conceive because they had tried for several years to conceive on their own.

McCaughey septuplets were also conceived on fertility drugs.

Both couples refused selective reduction as they are both Christian families.

I know with certainty that there is no objection to the use of Clomid by the Catholic Church.

I did not see the event Chuck Pierce spoke of but I saw the inauguration. I was grieved over much of it. In a way I was happy for black Americans, but not happy that this black is our President. I would have preferred Alan Keyes or someone of similar ideology as Keyes. I would have preferred Keyes over McCain too.

America is not going to be the same. I saw a pseudo anointing on him that was very scary when he spoke. In fact, that anointing shows up every time he speaks formally. There is an arrogance about him I’ve not witnessed in anyone else. There is a sinister wisdom at work within him as well as an intimidating spirit about him. And, he has a strong spirit of anger too. He no doubt has a strong anti-Christ spirit as well.

I thought it was a prophetic sign that the actual oath of office was so botched up at the inauguration. Both he and Justice Roberts made mistakes. Obama made the first mistake and probably threw Roberts off. And then there were about 3 or 4 more errors, which is pretty phenomenal when you consider that you have two very intelligent people repeating a simple, short phrase that both had no doubt rehearsed many times. I do believe there will be dramatic changes for America in the Obama administration and most of them will not be good for America, its safety, moral values, or the spreading of the Gospel. It seems everyone is expecting a “messianic Presidency”. I believe this administration will be the most botched up of any. It will take us further away from the principles upon which our Constitution is based (botched Constitutional oath) and root us in a socialist society. Sadly, most everyone will go along with even the most deleterious changes and praise what is being done rather than stand up to the dictatorial dominance of Obama, who will entrench us in a more secularized socialistic society. What is scary is how so much of the world and half of the Church is fawning over him. Deception abounds everywhere when it comes to him.

With regards to the Pierce memo below, Debbie reminded me of something Dr. Hamon has prophesied. For years, maybe decades, Dr. Hamon has prophesied that we would not recognize the Church of the 21st century. Perhaps the frustration over the state of the Church currently experienced by many is simply preparation for the “new look Church” of the 21st century. Perhaps Larry Kreider has insight into the new Church paradigm.

Pierce is right. We do need to pray and be watchful and vigilant more than ever before. We need to ask for mercy because America asked for her Saul and got him. The Church needs to be supportive of other discerning members as never before. Persecution can be expected. We must also ask God to wash the eyes of the Church with eye salve that the Church not be deceived. Satan was cleaver raising this one up. By so doing he has divided the Church and the Church will be at odds with the Church. Though Obama claims to be a Christian, in his works he denies Him. Our wisdom, love, commitment to the truth, and intercession must rise to new levels.

I told someone today, if I wasn’t a man of faith I would be very discouraged seeing the direction this country is going. We may very well find ourselves fighting similar battles as our brethren in China, Russia and other places of persecution. On the other side of the coin, I believe we are about to see the Church’s finest hour! Why are there so many words to “Arise and Shine”? …. Because gross darkness is coming on the earth, Is. 60:1,2. To arise and shine when the world around you is enslaved in the midst of gross darkness takes courage, boldness and faith in Him.

I told my Scottish-Now-American Mom...71 years old and American for 6 years about, Mr.Obama's stance on Infanticide/Abortion, and your factual case/cases. Mom is extremely liberal and believes in NONSENSICAL SOCIAL LIBERALISM. In other words, she is a dumb liberal and is naive as to what LIBERALISM is.
My Mom, said she had never heard of such INFANTICIDE.
I noted that I wasn't giving my OPINION, rather I was giving facts.
She said, that she had never heard of that nor of Obama's stance thereof!
I pointed out, that the FACT that she had never been told FACTS, vis a vis Baby killing and specifically Obama's INFANTICIDE POSITION in the Illiois Senate was "TELLING".
I said, that I was giving facts, and that if she had never heard such FACTS, she should ask herself why, she had never heard of this.

Please know: I am black; I grew up in the segregated South. I did not vote for Barack Obama;

I wrote in Ron Paul's name as my choice for president. Most importantly, I am not race conscious. I do not require a black president to know that I am a person of worth, and that life is worth living. I do not require a black president to love the ideal of America.

I cannot join you in your celebration. I feel no elation. There is no smile on my face. I am not jumping with joy. There are no tears of triumph in my eyes. For such emotions and behavior to come from me, I would have to deny all that I know about the requirements of human flourishing and survival - all that I know about the history of the United States of America, all that I know about American race relations, and all that I know about Barack Obama as a politician. I would have to deny the nature of the "change" that Obama asserts has come to America. Most importantly, I would have to abnegate my certain understanding that you have chosen to sprint down the road to serfdom that we have been on for over a century. I would have to pretend that individual liberty has no value for the success of a human life. I would have to evade your rejection of the slender reed of capitalism on which your success and mine depend. I would have to think it somehow rational that 94 percent of the 12 million blacks in this country voted for a man because he looks like them (that blacks are permitted to play the race card), and that they were joined by self-declared "progressive" whites who voted for him because he doesn't look like them. I would have to wipe my mind clean of all that I know about the kind of people who have advised and taught Barack Obama and will fill posts in his administration - political intellectuals like my former colleagues at the Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

I would have to believe that "fairness" is the equivalent of justice. I would have to believe that man who asks me to "go forward in a new spirit of service, in a new service of sacrifice" is speaking in my interest. I would have to accept the premise of a man that economic prosperity comes from the "bottom up," and who arrogantly believes that he can will it into existence by the use of government force. I would have to admire a man who thinks the standard of living of the masses can be improved by destroying the most productive and the generators of wealth.

Finally, Americans, I would have to erase from my consciousness the scene of 125,000 screaming, crying, cheering people in Grant Park, Chicago irrationally chanting "Yes We Can!" Finally, I would have to wipe all memory of all the times I have heard politicians, pundits, journalists, ditorialists, bloggers and intellectuals declare that capitalism is dead - and no one, including especially Alan Greenspan, objected to their assumption that the particular version of the anti-capitalistic mentality that they want to replace with their own version of anti-capitalism is anything remotely equivalent to capitalism.

So you have made history, Americans. You and your children have elected a black man to the office of the president of the United States, the wounded giant of the world. The battle between John Wayne and Jane Fonda is over - and that Fonda won.

Eugene McCarthy and George McGovern must be very happy men. Jimmie Carter, too. And the Kennedys have at last gotten their Kennedy look-a-like.

The self-righteous welfare statists in the suburbs can feel warm moments of satisfaction for having elected a black person. Good to see that Hal opposes the FOCA. Can't say I remember if he opposed it before, but obviously he does now, since the FOCA would force companies and organizations to provide services that they don't want to provide.

It's unfortunate that the Super Bowl is on NBC, a channel which has decided to embrace far-left insanity. Ah well, I was going back and forth on whether or not I was going to continue watching Heroes. NBC has just made the decision for me, and I'll be sure that they're aware of that.

Best part about the Super Bowl - as a Pittsburgher, it will be fantastic for me if the Steelers win. However, there is a silver lining in the cloud if the Steelers lose - Obama wants them to win. Steelers win, I win; Steelers lose, Obama loses. So it's win-win, really.

To the extent FOCA would do that, I do oppose it. I don't think hospitals, nurses, doctors, or anyone else, should be forced to participate in abortions by the government. However, I also don't think they should be protected by the government if they want to work at an institution that performs abortions and they don't want to participate. The employer should be able to not hire pro life doctors, for example, if the hospital wishes to perform abortions. (the Hospital, may, if it chooses, put that doctor in another role)

I don't recall enough about FOCA. However, my position is clear. The government shouldn't force companies or organizations to perform abortions (or provide birth control) On the other hand, the government is under no obligation to send money to such organizations either. There is no right to receive federal funding. (generally)
