On WLS talk radio's Don and Roma's Show in Chicago today, former Gov. Rod Blagojevich started to let loose about IL political carnal knowledge. Rest assured, if he gets indicted, he's going to blab.
And even if not, it appears he's planning to write a book. And, oh, what a book that will be, because the sorts of things Blagojevich got caught for is normal behavior for so many politicians, and not just in IL, as he revealed he knows this morning. He gets sidetracked once, but keep reading...
Blagojevich: When all is worked out appropriately, I expect to be bigger voice than I've ever been. And in the meantime I still want to be a voice. I want to point out the phoniness and hypocrisy of how government works....Roma: That calls for your book. This is another example of the reason you could put together a book, and...
Don: Who should most fear your writing a book?
Blagojevich: Well, I wouldn't say there's any, you know... Look, I think the establishment.
Let me give you an example. Here's a little example, an incident I'd like to share how this system works. And they give these speeches, and they act like they're so moral.
There is a prominent legislative leader, ok, you know, who was gonna work with us on a couple of issues, but... This is very common, he has a little laundry of stuff he wants. And among these things... This is how the system in Springfield works - where a bunch of these lawmakers go down to Springfield. Nobody even knows who they are. They're away from their families. It is a whole different world down there. A bunch of 'em are cheating on their spouses. A lot of 'em drink in excess. Very few of 'em know what's going on. They just take their marching orders from legislative leaders. And then the legislative leaders got to do things for them, so that they can keep 'em happy.
So the House Democrats, for example, virtually every one of 'em is getting extra pay 'cause Madigan has given them all chairmanship and subcommittee chairmanships. Virtually every one of them, you know, stipends that they get. That's how he buys them off to do his bidding and just basically be blind and follow the leader.
Another legislative leader came to us because one of his members was sleeping with his secretary. And then the wife found out, and she wanted that secretary fired. But this guy was in love with his secretary, so he goes to the legislative leader. They come to us. They want us to hire this woman so that we can keep that guy happy and, you know, then hope that they might work with us on some issues.
Those kinds of insights on how government works - nd it's not just state government. I saw that as a congressman in Washington, that sort of stuff. And it's, you know, part of the human dynamic. And I don't want to be too judgmental. But these same guys get up and they get holier than thou on their soap boxes, and there they are doing that sort of thing, promoting that kind of thing. And, you know, yeah, people are human and they make mistakes, but cheating on your wife and sleeping with your secretary, that's the wrong thing to do.
Don: Wow.
Roma: I think you've got a book in you.
Blagojevich: I've got my crayons ready, ready to write. I'd like to tell those stories.
Wow is right. Blagojevich is not going away quietly. And I'm glad. I remain hopeful IL/Chicago Planned Parenthood will get stuck in his morass. Listen to the interview here. (Tthe aforementioned excerpt was in Part II.)

Comments:
Hmmm..Maybe Blago can be in American Idol...he's going to be singing a lot...
Posted by: RSD at February 11, 2009 11:44 AMI'm glad Rod is doing what he is doing. But do you think he should fear for his life?
Posted by: Grace at February 11, 2009 1:32 PMThe initial singing will be self preservation and self justification. He will build himself up by making others in a comparative way look worse. He already did so by his press conference claiming to be the healer for females and the poor in the state by reason of his administrative gestures.
the next phase is revenge. He lost power and he wants power removed from all that had a hand in removing his power. He is the poster child for alpha males.
The third phase is after he has been found guilty in a criminal court. he will expose any and all other thugs in a carefully negotiated way to get a lighter sentence.

but he better be very careful, things have a way of coming back to bite!
Jill, you write for WorldNetDaily - not exactly a paper of record, and yet you complain about other journalists. Seriously, it has the cred of The Weekly World News and yet you tout yourself as some Superwoman-cum-Cronkite. I have more respect for Heffner - at least he acknowleges that he publishes porn. You, on the other hand like to pretend that you don't.
Actually, I take that back - keep it up. It's too funny.

'Jill, you write for WorldNetDaily - not exactly a paper of record, and yet you complain about other journalists.'
------------------------------------------------------
YLT,
1. Pick up dictionary.
2. Look up defintion of:
a. journalist
b. columnist
(Spend a few quiet moments contemplating and contrasting the difference between the two terms. Then do a search of all of Jill Staneks columns (subtle hint) and posts and see if she ever referred to herself as a 'journalist'.
3. Ready, Fire, (Shoot yourself in the other foot.) and then Aim.

Posted by: kbhvac at February 11, 2009 9:21 PMSon of a Blagojevich, is Rod off his meds are what?
When SOB was on Late Night with Letterman David asked Blago why he was there.
SOB replied, 'I have always wanted to be on you show in the worst way."
Letter quipped, 'Well, you have met those conditions.'
yor bro ken.
Posted by: kbhvac at February 11, 2009 9:58 PMKen - your right. There is a reason why she has a link to Bill O. on her site - they both traffic i the same solutionless shock-polemics - an opposition for the sake of arguement more than any contribution. You know, if she didn't know she was sitting next to him, I bet she could strike up a nice conversation with a guy from Al-Jazzera. They might find they agree more often than not.
Posted by: Yo La Tengo at February 11, 2009 10:27 PMThat Hot Rod Blago book is likely gonna sell millions of copies.
Posted by: truthseeker at February 12, 2009 12:45 AMI heard Governor Blago tell somebody he wanted to play himself in a biography. I would throw a good car chase between him in the made for TV movie their just cause I could picture Hot Rod doing it.
Posted by: truthseeker at February 12, 2009 12:48 AMBlago is just one of the recent rising stars from the Chicago political scene. And now the ones that aren't in jail have moved to Washington.
Posted by: truthseeker at February 12, 2009 12:50 AMThat Hot Rod Blago book is likely gonna sell millions of copies.
TS, I'd take that bet.
Posted by: Doug at February 12, 2009 6:54 AMMillions of copies overseas too I'd bet.
Posted by: truthseeker at February 12, 2009 10:23 PMPerhaps, if they're priced at a penny or less.
