The Fight "Fight FOCA" campaign targets Catholic Church

Ok, after reading this February 26 Washington Post piece it's clear to me.

Putting that together with Amy Sullivan's February 19 Time magazine article calling the Freedom of Choice Act a "mythical abortion bill," here are the pro-abort talking points to counter the mounting surge against FOCA:

  • Pro-lifers are on hallucinogenics. FOCA isn't happening.

  • Pro-life groups are using FOCA to raise money.

  • Conservative Catholics are at the bottom of the Fight FOCA frenzy.
  • It appears the long knives are out against Catholic US Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS)....

Jivin J mentioned in his February 26 Life Links that an anti-FOCA fundraising letter Brownback signed for a group called Catholic Advocate is drawing the Left's ire. The letter also called out 5 pro-abort Catholic senators who are FOCA sponsors: Cantwell, Kerry, Menendez, Mikulski, and Murray.

(That Brownback's signature is even on the letter is a source of confusion. Apparently his chief of staff was unaware, and the ok was given a year ago by a campaign staffer no longer with Brownback.)

    The WashPo piece concludes:

Meanwhile, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (there's a mission) has asked the Senate Ethics Committee Wednesday to look into it. Other groups such as Faithful America and Catholics United are calling on Brownback to "set the record straight" and that funds raised by the letter be returned or donated to Catholic Charities.

I suspect that Brownback, a Catholic convert, will disavow the letter and apologize to his fellow Catholics in Congress. But what he can't or won't say is that this happens all of the time. Advocacy groups (and politicians) rely on fear tactics to raise awareness, support and funds. And it doesn't seem to matter if those fears are real or imagined.

    Well, imagine this, WashPo...

And imagine these (here and here), versions of FOCA introduced in the 110th Congress.

Apparently pro-life rabble-rousing has caused pro-aborts to back away from introducing it in the 111th Congress, lest they're exposed as the real crazies here.

Obama wants a new day. That is his shabby manifesto. We can battle this manifesto with truth. One example is ultra sounds. They are afraid and have reason to be scared when the mommy sees the baby move. It ixposes the liars agenda. It is a baby.

Yes it is a new day and truth battles death and lies.

It is a baby and it is hman from conception. Abortion is murder.

    My thoughts exactly.

The pro-aborts can moan and groan about pro-lifers' motives and actions all they want. Go ahead and waste your breath, pro-aborts.

Babies are dying. Killing babies, or blobs of human tissue, should not be a legal right, and pro-lifers will not give up the fight.

    Babies are humans, not choices.

I'm still waiting for the official announcement that it will be called harvesting or cost reduction or eco-friendly reduction in carbon production.
I love how they call it "freedom of choice" while denying any physician who is morally opposed to abortion from saying no to a demand for abortion.
As soon as it passes, activists will be sent out looking for Christian physicians to file federal charges against. And all the left has to say is "if they don't want to perform abortions they should no have become OB/GYN doctors."
They have the same answer regarding forced union membership "go find another job if you don't want to be in the union."
Pro-choice only when people make choices they approve of.
