Planned Parenthood unfazed by tanking economy: Cleared another $1 billion 07-08

UPDATE, 1:05p: Here's another good chart, received from the same friend. PPFA stands for Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Click to enlarge:

UPDATE, 1p: I heard a good proverb yesterday: "If you want more of something, you subsidize; if you want less, you tax."

Here's an example of the former. I received the following chart from a government friend on PP's funding as it correlates to the number of abortions it commits. Click to enlarge...

_______________

According to its 06-07 annual report, Planned Parenthood cleared $1 billion in income for the 1st time, $1.018 billion to be exact.

According to its 07-08 annual report, the tanking American economy certainly didn't hurt PP. In fact, PP improved its bottom line to $1.038 billion. PP ended the reporting year with $1.014 billion in assets, up by almost 10%. That's pretty good!

PP got 1/3 of its income from we the taxpayers: $350 million, up from $337 million last year. Click to enlarge:

Abortions were up, too, from 290k last year to 305k this year.

In the next chart we see PP's statistical trickery. PP's report states abortion accounts for only 3% of all its services. But 10% of everyone (including men) who walk into a PP walk out an abortee.

Put another way, as its statistics show, 1 in 4 who get a pregnancy test at PP will abort. It would be interesting to know how many test negative, 1 in 4, 2 in 4? It is possible - likely - that at least half of mothers with positive pregnancy tests at PP abort. Click to enlarge:

This is so sad. The economy is having women think they cannot live with an unplanned pregnancy. There are ways, there is help and there is funds out there to help you just have to be proactive in seeking them out.

So, so sad though.....

Also interesting is that PP's total number of services is DOWN 4% from 3,140,540 in 2006-7 to 3,020,651 in 2007-8, even as abortions are UP 5% from 289,750 to 305,310.

That the number of abortions would go UP when the total number of services is going DOWN suggests how aggressively PP is expanding its cut of the national abortion business.

This is terrible. An extra fifteen thousand abortions because of this lousy economy, and yet people still brand this as women's liberation. How terrible! I hope that this situation improves.

Just as a quick question, do crisis pregnancy centers receive federal money like Planned Parenthood does (though they don't deserve it)? I read in an interview that President Obama does not believe that the centers ought to receive federal funds, in which case I should hope that I misread the text. Does anyone know for sure though where crisis centers stand?

What was it algore said about the economy when he was on the ticket with Bill, 'I did not have sex with that whoa-man ms Lewinsky, Clinton.

Oh yeah, I remember: "What should down is up and what should be up is down."

algore was talking about the economy, not sex.

When you are discussing PP there is no difference.

It is illogical to fund an organization to address a problem when they have a vested interest in the failure of their proferred solution.

It is not about 'profits'. It is about generating money to fund the leftist, humanist agenda.

'Non-profit' does not mean unprofitable. 'Non-profit' merely mean that dividends cannot 'LEGALLY' be paid to owners. 'Non-profit' organizations are often very profitable.

Money is 'fungible' for every tax dollar PP receives for it's services, it free up a cash dollar to be invested in partisan political purposes.

fungible
1 : being of such a nature that one part or quantity may be replaced by another equal part or quantity in the satisfaction of an obligation
2 : interchangeable
3 : flexible

I dont know if they receive federal funding or not, but it wouldnt surprise me if Barry is against it. HE doesnt believe in spending any government money on saving babies.

Also did anyone else notice the number of abortions doubled from 1997 to 2007? Over 300,000 babies killed that year.

So much for liberals claiming they want abortion to be "rare."
