I think that if you're going to have an ambassador who has access to His Holiness and who has the ability to be able to represent all the other things which you want to come together on, it is best not to, you know, make things difficult from the outset.And obviously given the position of the Church... I'd try to find someone who doesn't open up that front, so to speak, and has the ability to represent where we find the common ground.
Does it have to be [a pro-life person]? No, but that would be my recommendation.

The display, designed to remember the number of abortions performed daily, was part of GW Pro-Life Day which concluded with an evening speaker on the impact of abortion in the African-American community.
Students who saw the display had mixed reactions, but were positive overall. Vickie Graf, the group's president, added:
At a school like GW, people argue about abortion as an intangible issue... when you see the number of babies killed per day on the way to class... then you can see it.

I think the Vatican has made it clear it DOES have to be a pro-life person. What? Does he think he gets points for "recommending" Obama picks a pro-lifer?

Even Clinton, who was far from pro life himself, had enough respect for the Catholic church to pick someone who agreed with the church's position on abortion.
Someone needs to tell Barry that pro life people exist. I don't think he realizes it, considering everyone he has picked for his administration is as pro abort as he is.

There's the rub...does Obama even respect the Church? And the answer is a resounding 'No'.

However, that relationship of mutual respect cannot dictate choices about who represents our nation abroad. He is free to pick a pro-abortion ambassador, and might very well do so. The Vatican can ill afford to reject a representative of the White House.
Farslowe, the Vatican can "ill afford to reject?" a rep from the White House? Why? According to Obama, we are no special nation, so why should we have special treatment in them accepting an ambassador, most likely Catholic, who does not publicly support the Church's teaching? We can't be unspecial and deserve special treamtment at the same time.
