We are being stripped away of our rights little by little. The Obama administration is dumbing America down, and it's working!! I went to the TEA PARTY here, and the leftist loonies were there snapping our pictures. {BIG DEAL} Why the pictures? We just happen to disagree with their views.

Hal, Your article just supported my point about dumbing people down.

"safe, legal and early" is the new liberal spin from "safe, legal and rare."

Does killing the baby "early" make it less appalling? Not in my opinion.

The pro death crowd does everything they can to justify the killing of the innocents.

So I wonder which Republicans sided with Sebelius? I'm guessing Snowe and Collins, not to mention Brownback and Roberts. We expect Snowe and Collins to side with the pro aborts but shame on Brownback and Roberts.

Yes and I wonder how well Brownback and Roberts will sleep tonight.

Posted by: Joanne at April 28, 2009 5:38 PM

Brownback is running for Gov. of Kansas in 2010, and he REALLY didn't want Sebelius running for (and winning) his senate seat for the Democrats. OF COURSE HE VOTED YES.

Posted by: reality at April 28, 2009 5:39 PM

And I'm sure Brownback will sleep great tonight, knowing his senate seat is now much more likely to stay in Republican hands.

Posted by: reality at April 28, 2009 5:40 PM

Voting to confirm Sebelius is not the same as voting for abortion. On the whole, even those who oppose abortion might find that Gov. Sebelius would make a fine HHS Secretary.

Some pro lifers might take a broader view of her qualifications.

Posted by: reality at April 28, 2009 5:39 PM

That is the most ridiculous logic I ever heard. He doesnt want a raving pro abort winning his senate seat (something that is far from certain anyway) so he votes for her for HHS where she can do FAR more destruction.

I hope a real conservative beats Brownback for governor.

Posted by: Joanne at April 28, 2009 5:42 PM

    And here are the votes.

Republicans who voted yes: Bond (MO), Brownback (KS), Collins (ME), Gregg (NH), Lugar (IN), Roberts (KS), Snowe (ME) and Voinovich (OH).

Specter voted yes too, but as of today he's not a Republican anymore.

A pro-choicer was going to get HHS anyway. Obama was NOT going to nominate an anti-choicer.

Also, if Sebelius were really a "raving pro-abort," she wouldn't have been elected in Kansas twice. She's a Catholic, personally pro-life moderate. It's a shame the national anti-choice groups made such a dishonest caricature of her in the national media.

Posted by: reality at April 28, 2009 5:53

On that point we definitely can agree. He only believes in "choice" if that means allowing babies to be killed right up until birth. He does support FOCA after all.

He has picked nothing but extreme far left liberals for all his cabinet jobs. At least he is consistent.

"He only believes in "choice" if that means allowing babies to be killed right up until birth. He does support FOCA after all."

Just one more time, for the record, the FOCA only applies pre-viability. You can oppose it if you want, but it's not related to "killing right up until birth." That's a separate issue.

Posted by: Hal at April 28, 2009 6:15 PM

Posted by: reality at April 28, 2009 6:08 PM

And what an agenda it is!

Record deficit spending, bankrupting the treasury, socialized health care, absolutely no restrictions on abortion whatsoever, the "fairness doctrine", compulsary "community service", shaking hands and befriending dictators.

And that is just in three months.

    SEBELIUS CONFIRMED 65 TO 31!!

    Posted by: reality

This changes nothing Deluded Reality and Hal. "But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 2 Ti 3:13-15

All this means is that the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ needs to wake up and be His Church. It means there is probably going to be some severe judgments coming our way that will help shake the Church from her lethargy and cause the lost to fear God and seek repentence.

Do you actually think that God is going to sit idly by and allow this slaughter of genocidal proportions to continue?

    NO WAY!

All I've got to say is shame on me and the rest of the church in America for allowing this to happen on our watch. May Almighty God grant us repentence and give us supernatural boldness to confront the church's apathy and help us drive this evil scouge from our land.

Don't be deceived, reality. The only thing your "victory" has accomplished is a hastening of God's Judgment on our nation. It's obvious we need it.

Posted by: Hal at April 28, 2009 6:31 PM

LOL! God, right-wing complaints are SO funny!

    Record deficit spending,

Only a little bit bigger than Bush's.

    bankrupting the treasury,

Bush already took care of that with his eight years of massive tax cuts for rich people.

    socialized health care,

Hasn't happened yet, but I sure hope it does! It would save money and lives.

absolutely no restrictions on abortion whatsoever,

Abortion has been legal since 1973, for goodness sake.

    the "fairness doctrine",

The what? Not even on the agenda.

    compulsary "community service",

    Only in fevered conservative imaginations.

    shaking hands and befriending dictators.

Just like Bush, Reagan and every other president who came before him.

    LOL so much wingnut failure.

Hey guys, this is off topic, but could you please pray for my mom. She had a really bad seizure at work today. She was completely out for 8 minutes and was turning blue. She came around on her own, and the CT didn't show anything, but obviously we're still worried.

She's never had a seizure before, this was totally out of the blue.

"If God really gave a damn about legal abortion, you would think he would have done something about it by now. "

You have just put a tremendous burden of proof on yourself. In order to justify your above if/then statement, you need to somehow exhaustively show that God would have ABSOLUTELY NO reason for allowing abortion for this long. So what you need to show is that an all knowing, all powerful being can not possibly have any reason or forsee any greater good coming out of allowing legal abortion for as long as he has.

Reality, answer me this is well. In 5 billion years or so from now, the sun will burn out and the human race will become extinct. The universe will then be just as dead and lifeless as it was before mankind ever came to be. Every single little thing anyone has ever done will not matter in the least. None of the abortion rights that you have worked so hard to maintain and fight for will matter in the least once humanity is extinct. So why does any of this matter? Why does any of the stuff you mentioned above matter? Maybe matters for 20, 30, 40, 100, 200, 300, 1000, 2000, 3000 years, but ultimately, it's completely meaningless. What's the point?

You know reality, you make an excellent point. I honestly believe He expected His Church to do something about it by now. And because we have been weak in our opposition, nothing has changed. But I guarantee you something is about to change. Either the Church of Jesus Christ is going to wake up and say, "Enough is enough! Enough Killing! Enough Murder! Enough! The Killing Stops Now!" Or I see God intervening in a mighty way.

It has been the greatest country in the world. The moral decline is not confined to the US but the US is the world leader and was always considered a Christian nation. I think your great leader has said it's no longer just a Christian nation but one of many religions.

And reality... I've asked his of Hal before but never gotten an answer so maybe you will answer me.

Why do you spend so much time on a blog that is clearly pro life and Christian when you are neither?

If Cecile Richards or another pro abort had a blog you would not find me there!

It's not like you are going to change any of the pro life people to pro abort.

    So why do you bother?

Posted by: Joanne at April 28, 2009 7:13 PM

With 37 years of legalized abortion on the table, shouldn't this problem be non-existant?? Could a Pro Choicer please explain to me why a teen would still do this?

Well, a lot of them have abstinence-only education that doesn't teach them about birth control and abortion. And a lot of them live in states where they would need parental permission to have an abortion. There's also the cost barrier.

Giving birth in your bedroom and dumping the baby in the trash is free, private and you don't need permission. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I know some places have safe haven laws in place where moms can turn in babies to police stations or hospitals without getting into trouble with the law.

And why is it that if a woman delivers her baby and then kills it we call it murder (rightfully so!!) but if she aborts it right before delivery it is "choice"?

And Sebelius pal Dr Tiller has stated he has aborted babies right up to just before the due date.

But to answer your question: it's fun!

Posted by: reality at April 28, 2009 7:18 PM

Actually reality, the opposite is actually true. Child abuse is up 1000% since abortion. Crime and poverty didn't go away either. More women are substance abusers thanks to abortion. This comes from the self loathing and self esteem issues when not dealt with.

Posted by: heather at April 28, 2009 7:19 PM

Child abuse is up 1000% since abortion.

Back in the '60s, child abuse was more tolerated than it is now. People were much more likely to look the other way than report it. Times have changed, and that's a good thing.

Crime and poverty didn't go away either.

    They are greatly reduced, however.

More women are substance abusers thanks to abortion.

Abortion was supposed to eliminate or at very least, greatly reduce child abuse. Your excuse contradicts itself. If abortion solves the problem of child abuse, then why is there any abuse at all to report?

Then you can see that it makes no sense to ask someone "what if you're wrong." Aside from the fact that there are dozens of religions in the world, a person can not help what they believe. If there was a God, I doubt it would reward people who just pretend to believe because they're scared of being wrong. You either have faith or you don't.

I knew if you just kept swingin' away odds were you would get something right.

The other side of the coin is no matter how much you might want to be a 'christian', it is not a unilateral decision on your part. You can not say 'I do', before HE pops the question.

And you are correct, none of us was born a 'christian'.

    Late Second Trimester (3-day Procedure)

Late term abortion is a THREE DAY PROCEDURE.

It involves killing the baby first then inducing labor so the woman can "deliver" her dead child.

And this is supposed to be done only for the "health" of the mother???

If a woman truly is in a situation where continuing the pregnancy could kill her is it not better to do a cesearian section thus saving her and the baby? How is killing her baby and taking THREE DAYS to do it supposed to save her?

I can't wait for the pro aborts to try and justify that.

Lauren, prayers being said here. Just so you know, sometimes seizures happen once and are never explained, so don't be too worried if they don't find anything. Happens more often in kids (febrile seizures are scary but essentially harmless).

    Please keep us updated.

My positive thoughts are being sent your mother's way Lauren, as medical emergencies as such aren't anything anyone's family deserve to go through. My brother (A physician himself) recently had a seizure and in the end it turned out okay, but scary for sure.

That "late term" on what was posted could be 17wks gestation (That is what is shown- all 2nd trimester not third). I assume they would not do a caesarean for a "non-viable" fetus (Please corect me if you know of any 17wk surviving fetuses). Its a pretty big and unecessary surgery if the fetus cannot survive outside the womb, but the woman cannot continue carrying the pregnancy at this juncture because of her health, therefore that's the procedure left.

    Reality,

You are what we call "a prime prospect". You, like the rest of us, are exactly the kind of sinner Jesus died to save. We were all born that way, lost. The great news is that God has given all of us, including you Reality, a measure of faith with which to believe Him. All you have to do is use what you've got.

Just pray, "Jesus, people have told me that they know You and that You died to save me from my sin. I want to know You too Jesus. Save me from my sin. Wash me in Your Blood that was shed for me. Help me to live for You."

Jesus said, "the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out." Jn 6:37 If you'll pray that simple prayer Reality, God will save you, wash you, and forgive you from all your sin. It's a great deal! Moreover, He will adopt you into His family, you will be His son, and you will have His Life and His Peace. You can't beat it! Jesus is the best Friend you could ever have. You haven't truly lived, until you've asked Him into your heart.

I wouldn't wait another minute. You can start really living by asking Him into your heart today. You'll never be the same.

    Ash:

What about 21 weeks? A baby has survived that early.

And we all know that abortions occur later than that.

There are plenty of people willing to pay for medical care to give those babies a chance.

If they can wait 3 days to deliver a dead baby, they could be injected with steroids to give the baby a better chance rather than poison to kill it, and deliver a live child a few days later. Late abortion isn't about "choice," it's about killing babies.

Posted by: YCW at April 29, 2009 6:46 AM

    Ash 2:05am

Premature labor can be induced when the mother's life is at risk or the baby has no chance of survival. For example, a uterine infection.
A pregnant woman can legally and safely seek any help she needs to preserve her health and life in a hospital equipped to manage her care.
There is no need for the likes of Tiller or Carhart.
Unlike Tiller, the hospital won't hire untrained and unlicensed people off the street to care for these women.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
    Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing?
    Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able and willing?
    Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither able nor willing?
    Then why call him God?

Yes, this is a very bad argument by Epicurus. The problem is in this line right here:

"Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent."

Yes he is able. However, as I mentioned above, there is a tremendous burden of proof that Epicurus has put on himself by assuming that if God is able, then he should. This is really Epicrus making himself out to be God by saying "if I was God, I would put an end to it." Of course, he must convincingly and exhaustible show that there is NO REASON for God to allow evil to occur- none whatsoever that God can foresee. He also must deal with the problem of the fact that human beings have free will and must show that it is logically necessary for a God who is all powerful and who wishes human beings to have free will to interfere with their partaking in evil. That is the only way this argument can work; that is, if it can be shown that human beings having free will, an all powerful all knowing deity, and human beings engaging in evil are mutually exclusive. Simply asserting it is a snobbish (and dare I say hedonistic as a shoutout to Epicurus' "legacy") manner will not do.
