  • Byard Duncan shares his experience at his first abortion party:

Maggie, a 22-year-old college senior with no intention of bringing a child into the world yet, was going to have an abortion. She told us that she had already made up her mind; she had even determined the time, date and location. A better question might have been, "How are you going to pay for it?"

She answered that one before we had a chance to ask. "We're having a party Friday to raise money," Maggie said. "You guys are obviously invited."

An abortion party. For the price of whatever we were willing to donate, she explained, we could partake of baked goods, beer and dancing. It was going to start at 10 p.m. at Maggie's.

  • Dan Gilgoff notes a few surprises from President Obama's recent talk with members of the Catholic press...

  • Obama aides have been careful to say that the administration is not trying to influence a pregnant woman's decision about whether or not to have an abortion. They insist they're aiming to help only pregnant women who've already decided they want to carry their pregnancies to term.

That's been key to reassuring the abortion-rights movement, which doesn't want the administration to stigmatize abortion as an option for pregnant women.

And yet on Thursday, Obama cast the decision to have an abortion in a decidedly negative light. "I don't know any circumstance in which abortion is a happy circumstance or decision," Obama said, "and to the extent that we can help women avoid being confronted with a circumstance in which that's even a consideration, I think that's a good thing."

It will be interesting to see how abortion-rights advocates react to this.

Another issue mentioned by Obama was the conscience clause. Matt Bowman at the American Spectator isn't buying Obama's conscience clause claims.

  • In 2006, police rescued a mentally handicapped woman who was confined and tortured by a family in Winnipeg. The Winnipeg Free Press reports details of the family's crimes are just being revealed at their trial.
The main abusers claim they began torturing the victim because she supposedly told their parents they were pregnant:

Dale Hendrickson and his fiancée, O'Malley, said they were upset after the victim told O'Malley's parents that O'Malley was pregnant. The woman's parents eventually forced her to have an abortion and Hendrickson and O'Malley said they blamed the victim, court was told.

  • Comments:

Dan Gilgoff and the POTUS must've missed Maggie's 'borhsun shindig… Not only does the abortionist make a buck, but Maggie gets to enhance her mad social hostess skillz, perhaps pad out her account and raise social awareness that procreation must be controlled.

Abortion party?! It's like some sort of disgusting anti-baby shower. Those girls probably thought they were so clever and edgy.

    Disgusting.

Byard Duncan seems a bit dazed and confused about the abortion party he attends. I'm not surprised since part of the aim of abortion is to control and emasculate men. These women are in need of psychological help.

Our hope is in this new generation. Lord have mercy.

I wonder how Maggie would respond to the suggestion of a post-abortion party. They could play pin the tail on the fetus and horsehoes(only using coathangers instead). Do you think she'd be disturbed at the suggestion?

I read that article. It's kind of sad, really. Pretty tragic situation--I wonder what Maggie felt after the abortion?

What is the pro-abort movement going to say? "Oh, no, abortion is a happy thing!"?

They can't. They know even their happy sheeple won't buy that line. Even the pro-aborts try to make it sound like they want to minimize abortion. That's how they gain any speed. Ever, really. It's all double-talk.

No, they won't come out and disagree with Obama. That would encourage the idea that they're just money-grubbing baby killers.

As for the abortion party, complete with alcohol, what a lovely way to complete her transformation into immature member of the brainwashed masses. I hope she enjoys debasing herself and humanity.

    God have mercy.

Maybe she hasn't had it yet.

My heart really grieves for those young people. It's amazing how deceived they are! They have no clue the heartache they are in for...

And that poor young lady in Winnepeg. Again I can't comprehend how people can treat others with such evil contempt. They truly must be demon-possessed.

    Come quickly Lord!

Just finished the abortion party article.

Apparently, they decorated the light with a red sheet, to look like a womb. The irony...

It's not the first abortion party I've heard of, just the first where it was a fundraiser to pay for the un-blessed event.

Rosa Naperstek-Taft had a party with her friends the night before her abortion to celebrate that she'd be the first among them (but presumably far from the last) to have the nice safe clean legal kind of abortion. She got more than she bargained for but didn't learn a darned thing.

    Abortion party: DISGUSTING

Posted by: LizFromNebraska at July 7, 2009 4:03 PM

Jill there seems to be no end to the depraved material our society is providing you.

I really fail to see how this situation presented by Byard Duncan is any different than sacrificing a child to the god Baal or how we as a people are really any different than the ancient Aztecs who sacrificed 40,000 souls in one day. The situation he describes is very satanic and very disturbing.

How distorted and misguided is author Byard Duncan. Never once does he ever consider who is being aborted.

I also note the use of terms like "structural sexism" and "reproductive justice". Good God, it makes me almost want the apocalypse.

Can't wait to tuck into bed tonight and read "How a late term abortion (read murder) saved my life."
    :(

"I really fail to see how this situation presented by Byard Duncan is any different than sacrificing a child to the god Baal or how we as a people are really any different than the ancient Aztecs who sacrificed 40,000 souls in one day"

Because of course the Christian god (and ancient tribes under the Abrahamic god) never sacrificed children or encouraged them to be killed.....let's at least be completely honest here - Christianity is also full of situations that are "very disturbing"

    Judges 11:29-40
    Exodus 21:15
    Deuteronomy 13:13-19
    Matthew 15:4-7
    Mark 7:9

Perhaps Byard Duncan is more concerned with the actual person who has to deal with an unwanted pregnancy...rather than the potential person that would come out of it.

Abortion is an affront to the creative nature of God, it negates God as Creator,

Abortion denies the power of God to right a wrong, it negates God as Redeemer,

Abortion makes that which is good, the birth of human life, into that which is evil, the death of human life, and then calls it good, the very definition of blasphemy,

Abortion negates the resurrection power of God as it takes flesh that is alive in it's earthly abode (the womb) and kills it, while God takes that flesh which is dead in it's earthly abode (the grave) and desires to make it alive,

Abortion's desire is to take that which was composed from the chaotic array of elemental molecules into a symphony of life infused with an eternal soul, and turn it back to the entropy of randomness, chaos, nothingness, uselessness.

Abortion is against all that is hopeful, all that requires faith for success; for it's solution; annihilation, it's goal; death, it's dream; breaking God's heart, it's vision, Satan's ultimate power.

    Abortion is a counterfeit, for the clawprints of Satan are everywhere to be found in its performance;

Abortion disguises hate as love, bondage as freedom, choice as maturity, sin as righteousness, political correctness as wisdom,

Abortion pits men against women, mothers against their children, fathers against God, Yes, abortion is Satan's feeble attempt at killing God Himself, for abortion is a metaphor for Satan; it is his coat of arms, his family crest, his logo, his brand, it belongs to him......for he laughs at its willing proponents as they craft their own self-destruction, mantled in self-deception.

Kat, what exactly is a potential person?

Scientifically, a distinct human being is formed at conception. Eggs and sperm are "potential" people. If the stars align and they unite, they become a person.

Abortion involves the rights of (at least) two distinct "actual" persons.

    Chris,

Insanity, yes, but irony nonetheless. To think the womb, that which the pro-aborts rail against, being a major symbol in the abortion party...

    Yes, insanity, and irony.

    Kat

    I think you're confused.

There's no such thing as a "potential person".

Byard Duncan is concerned with no one but himself. He cares nothing for the woman, and certainly less for the baby who is a living human being and a full person who is at the very beginning of his/her physical development.

I never made Christianity out to be perfect, but it never condoned nor ordered any sort of action that even remotely compares to child/human sacrifices practiced by the Aztecs and many pagan cultures including our own modern culture which slaughters millions of unborn children per year.

If you read the comments of the pro-choicers after the abortion party article even they too are disturbed and talk of how abortion must be viewed with seriousness since a life is going to be extinguished. How bout, if abortion is going to extinguish a life it shouldn't be tolerated in the first place? If abortion isn't the killing of a baby as pro-choicers adamantly state over and over, then WHO CARES that Maggie had an abortion party? Its obvious from their own words, even pro-choicers can't quiet their own moral qualms.

    Also in response to Kat

Judges 11:29-40 "children of Ammon" does not refer to little kids...its more like "followers of" Ammon. And Jephthah's promise to sacrifice his daughter was not God's order. It shows how stupid people are who promise "God, if you get me out of this bind I'll do x,y and z for you" Don't make vain promises to God.

Exodus 21:15 the laws for the Isrealites...if you kill your mom or dad you will face capital punishment. Yes! Thats how seriously God views murder! If you take someone's life you forfeit your own right to your life! An eye for an eye...

Deut 13:13-18 children of Belial were followers of pagan idols...not little kids. These ancient canaanite cultures believed in child sacrifice among other evils...hmmm...not unlike our godless culture! God did not want the Israelites to be influenced by these evil people and ordered the Israelites to destroy them. The difference is, we as human beings do not create life so we do not have the right to decide on our our own who lives and dies...God as the author of life has every authority over us to decide when death comes to us.

Matthew 15:4-7 the pharisees were using the law of Corban which was donating money to the temple instead of taking care of their parents. Jesus was pointing out their hypocrisy.

Mark 7:9 again, Jesus pointing out that the pharisees were following man-made tradition instead of God's law.

And since you like to read the Bible read this:
Isaiah 49:15 Can a woman forget her sucking child that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.

Ecclesiastes 11:5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

Psalm 139:13-15 (David to God) thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee when I was made in secret.

to our anti-child society Psalm 127:3 Lo children are an heritage of the Lord:and the fruit of the womb is His reward.

all the verses in the Bible that talks of life in the womb speaks of it with much respect and says over and over how God is involved in each act of conception and forms each unborn child's body Himself! Its not evolution, its not an "accident" each child is planned by God and has a purpose on this earth and its not YOUR place to decide that child should die. If you do, you will answer to God someday! But yet, don't forget, God is very loving and forgiving if you are truly sorry.

Every evil act in christianity is not because of God, but because of sinful human beings. We are imperfect, and we mess up over and over. But God is always ready to reconcile and forgive if we seek a relationship with Him! I am a Christian and I sin every day!!! I thank God for His forgiveness and goodness to me!

What was truly sad about the article was not only the cheapening of the process but the fact that the author expressed sentiments that he feels sorry for women who are put in the position of "needing" an abortion. Does he consider the root causes of the" injustice"? He seems happy accepting the "symptoms" instead. Woman pressured to abort because of career? Let's keep the system in place, as women could always 'just get an abortion.' That's the solution! Killing the child instead of working on behalf of pregnant women in the workplace!
