Gibbs and Garrett brawl

This is related to our issue in that last week the White House website began asking Obamacare supporters to send in "fishy" emails and website addresses opposed to The Plan. (The request remains up today.) Likely, you and I have been reported.

So today Fox's Major Garrett told WH press secretary Robert Gibbs that people have emailed him, writing that they have begun receiving emails from Chief of Staff David Axelrod - but they never signed up for them, or for that matter, any Democrat email list. Garrett asked Gibbs if he could explain how this happened. And the exchange became heated...

This goes to Obama's pride. He should have had the "fishy" request taken down. But that would have admitted the WH blundered.

So this is, of course, one of the outcomes the WH should expect, and it should get used to Garrett's question being asked by others, the paranoia growing. Even if the WH is completely innocent and does nothing with email addresses it receives, people are going to think the WH or surrogates are sending them stuff.

Comments:

"uh-uh-uh-uh-uh...don't make that face at me..."

WTF? Does this guy think he is some sort of parental authority figure? These guys are on a powertrip like none other, and it's frightening. Glen Beck is an alarmist? Right. These people are Nazis.

Gibbs acts like this all the time, whenever he gets asked any question that doesn't vomit praise all over the President. As soon as that cocky little smile dons his face, you know he's been had. Then he makes some smart aleck comment that evades the question.

I think Bill Clinton should be WH Press Secretary... he had better talent at BSing than this guy ever could.

I wonder, Jill...

You living in Chicago, does ANY of this shock or surprise you? Is this like par for the course in the "Chicago Way'?

Posted by: carder at August 13, 2009 7:25 PM

Just answer the question, Gibbs. Don't look funny, mister.

Posted by: carla Author Profile Page at August 13, 2009 7:32 PM

I just read the "request" from the WH web page.

I have just one question that I would LOVE answered:

(from the web page): For the record, the President has consistently said that if you like your insurance plan, your doctor, or both, you will be able to keep them.

My question is....FOR HOW LONG????

(Would love to get an answer from Obama, on the record, on that)

Posted by: Marie at August 13, 2009 9:41 PM

When someone talks about the "Chicago Way" I am always reminded of the news clip of Bill Clinton calling Obama a Chicago Thug. I could not agree more.

Posted by: Lee Ann Lynch at August 13, 2009 9:58 PM

Did you guys see Bill Burton dodging questions about forwarded emails yesterday? The interview starts about one minute into this clip.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=qr6YD31tSOY

Marie, I'd like an answer on that too. I'd like to hear public discussion about the grace period in the house bill. And the shared responsibility payment for existing coverage not considered a qualifying plan in the senate bill. Which is it going to be ... everyone is required to purchase a qualifying plan during the grace period or nonqualifying plans may continue subject to financial penalty? Now that they're dropping the advance care planning provision they should be free to address these and other concerns.

Posted by: Fed Up at August 13, 2009 9:59 PM

Marie,

He hasn't even been consistent in saying that much. The only way he gets away with it is because when he advocated a single-payer system he wasn't president yet.

Posted by: MaryRose at August 13, 2009 10:00 PM

I should say openly advocated, really.

That, and because when the President lies, it's called misspeaking. I'm almost surprised that they're not trying to blame AARP for spreading misinformation.

Posted by: MaryRose at August 13, 2009 10:04 PM

carder,

Liberal elitists are found everywhere, but this group takes the cake. Gibbs was born and raised in Alabama. (I hope he isn't the typical "Southern gentleman".)

Posted by: Janet at August 13, 2009 10:09 PM

This happened to me.

I got e-mail from Axelrod.

Let the battle begin.

These people are threatening my health and now my privacy. This is America not Russia.

Gibbs' new name is now Gibbles, i.e., Hitler's Minister of Propaganda as in one Mr. Goebbles.

Like I said in previous e-mails, come and get me Obama.

2010 can come soon enough.

Hal,

I hope your proud of the idiot you supported and elected.

The guy's a thug.

Posted by: HisMan at August 14, 2009 2:46 AM

Patiently awaiting your email, Mr. Adolf Axelrod.

That email address is xalisae@gmail.com, m'kay?

I'm not scared of you, or any of your goons, minions, or thugs.

I know what America was. I know what it is supposed to be. I know what it's turning into, as well. I also know we're going to get it back, so help me.

Come.And.Get.Us.

I dare you.

For a sociopath/narcissist (little seperates the two and traits are interchangable) such as Obama being told "no" is a personal insult. Its about power, his grandioise vision and nothing will stop him. These people can become extremely dangerous when defied. From Obama's perspective "the rules" do not apply to him.

He called up his goons. His anger is seeping through the facade. Those that dare defy him are only troublemakers. Oh how innocent, one need only send "fishy" e-mails to the WH to be corrected by the great father.
Kind of makes me think of Al Capone's practice of inviting his unsuspecting enemies to his table, then clubbing them to death.

The most important rule to remember when dealing with a sociopath is to always keep in mind that you are first and foremost dealing with a sociopath. One disregards this rule at their own peril.

Hi HisMan 2:42am

Stalin and Hitler can only look up from the deepest depths of hell and eat their hearts out over what electronic devises Obama has at his disposal.

He makes them look like rank amateurs when it comes to spying on citizens.

Posted by: Mary at August 14, 2009 5:29 AM

Carder, 7:25p: Yes, the "Chicago Way" behavior at the WH, with both Obama and Emanuel being raised politically in that environment, has come as no surprise.

What is refreshing is that while Illinoisans can't seem to surmount the stranglehold, Americans are.

The director of our crisis pregnancy center received one of these infamous unsolicited emails. Since our website does not give out her email address one has to wonder how they got it? She did not give it to the WH.

Posted by: Maria at August 14, 2009 8:24 AM

I have received two such letters from Mr. Axlerod and one from the president touting the benefits of "Obamacare".

All three messages have been flung back in their face via the "flag" address with the text that "something is really fishy about this nonsense".

If they want "fishy", give them carp, and lots of it.

"Gibbs' new name is now Gibbles, i.e., Hitler's Minister of Propaganda as in one Mr. Goebbles."

Gibbs looks miserable and puts on a good front doing his deception drill.

Posted by: xppc at August 14, 2009 8:54 AM

I think Gibbs will be gone by the end of the year. His failure to obfuscate well enough will be the reason.

Posted by: Andy at August 14, 2009 10:06 AM

I think we should all go to the White House website, and email them our complaints - on healthcare, on the high-handed manner in which they are dealing with this. By law they must save all received correspondence. I think their "inbox" should be quite full of comments just like those I am reading here. We have been the silent majority for far too long. We have the right to free speech. Let's use it. If you're afraid, make yourself a web-based email account.

Anyone who has rec'd a David Axelrod e-mail has had their e-mail address sent to a gov't snitch site by someone.

As I said, Stalin and Hitler would be eating their hearts out.

Posted by: Hal at August 14, 2009 12:03 PM

Hal,

Please specify why you are so proud of Obama.

Is it us going "crazy" or you who chooses to close your eyes to some troubling facts?

Posted by: Mary at August 14, 2009 12:21 PM

I see no troubling facts. Obama is offering legitimate and thoughtful solutions to serious problems. We're having an honest debate about some big issues. We have intelligent leadership, and Obama is on the right track.

Posted by: Hal at August 14, 2009 2:03 PM

There you have it, folks! Straight from the Obama Kool-aid drinkers' mouth....

Nothing can be clearer.

Posted by: RSD at August 14, 2009 3:27 PM

RSD, do you disagree with anything I said? Or do you just want to call me a Kool-Aid drinker?

Other than his support for Abortion rights, what beef do you have with Obama?

Posted by: Hal at August 14, 2009 3:40 PM

Hal,

Exactly what problems has Obama solved? Debates? Talk accomplishes what? About all it does is sound good. Intelligent leadership? Intelligent leadership is the president calling up his goons when the American people actually have the audacity to disagree with him?

I'll give you this though, he's smart enough to trick gullible Americans into sending in e-mail addresses of his opposition. He and the rest of his Chicago goons can spy on and keep track of citizens in a way Stalin and Hitler could only have dreamed of.

Hey Hal, ya really think he just wants to correct those "fishy" e-mails?

Posted by: Mary at August 14, 2009 3:44 PM

Hal is very excited about this new Three-Year Plan! It is sure to be a smashing success! He watches his telescreen all the time!

Posted by: xalisae at August 14, 2009 3:48 PM

xalisae, no president is perfect, but I am excited about having one who generally says the right things, does the right things, and is working on the right issues.

It's fascinating to me to see how polarized our beloved nation has become. A bit sad, but being on the winning side helps ease the pain ;)

Posted by: Hal at August 14, 2009 3:58 PM

Hal,

He has put us into generations of debt to the Chinese and in case you haven't noticed, the tyrants of the world have been giving Obama the finger.
Apparently apologizing to the world for our country and kissing the backsides of dictators hasn't earned Obama much respect, if you can imagine.

Posted by: Mary at August 14, 2009 4:02 PM

Hi Hal,
I don't believe a word PBHO says. Not a word. He will not fight for the lives of the weakest and most vulnerable among us.(the unborn, the disabled, the elderly)Why in the world would I believe he would do anything in MY best interests?

I am so thankful that I do not look to the government to save me or to PBHO to be my savior.

Posted by: carla Author Profile Page at August 14, 2009 4:07 PM

When a man who can pay to have his own children killed tells me that "...I am excited about having [a president] who generally says the right things, does the right things, and is working on the right issues." I know this president most certainly is not saying the right things, doing the right things, or working on the right issues.

Aside from all I've heard from this man and watched him do, the fact that Hal likes him tells me I shouldn't.

Posted by: xalisae at August 14, 2009 4:16 PM

Hi Carla, I don't want Obama to save me either. I'm glad he got those journalists released from North Korea, and I'm glad he saved the freighter captain held by pirates.

Posted by: Hal at August 14, 2009 4:19 PM

Hal,

It was Bill Clinton who went over there and made who knows what concession to retrieve those reporters who never had any business being in that country to begin with. Unlike the U.S., most countries do not take lightly to anyone crossing their borders illegally.
This was likely necessary since the NKs have ridiculed our secretary of state as dressing like a pensioner so she obviously wasn't going to have much pull.

Also, it was the Navy SEALs, not Obama, who knocked off the pirates. That was a militarily planned mission that Obama did little more than give permission to proceed to.

Posted by: Mary at August 14, 2009 4:54 PM

Hal: "Yes, my friend, I'm very proud of President Obama. I'm also enjoying the heck out of watching the fringe right go batcrap crazy."

Does that include watching BHO's approval rating spiral down the commode?

Posted by: bmmg39 at August 14, 2009 5:28 PM

" I'm also enjoying the heck out of watching the fringe right go batcrap crazy."

It's not the fringe right who are scared. It's regular people, Dems, Reps and Indep. who are all scared of what might happen. Probably people you know yourself. There are sick people now who are scared to death wondering if there will be treatments available to them once they are dependent on the government for their health care. The passage of this bill is only the beginning. The govmt. will have administrative AND regulatory control similar to the IRS which can change laws whenever they want. I don't see any humor in this situation.

Posted by: Janet at August 14, 2009 5:47 PM

What is Obama's approval rating now? 47%?

Posted by: carla Author Profile Page at August 15, 2009 7:14 AM

Carla, yes, and I'm sure the number will just continue dropping as each week goes by.

Mary, 4:54, great post as usual!!

Well I do. Lots of it. Things are getting better and the fringe is freaking out. I'd call that a "win-win."

Posted by: Hal at August 16, 2009 7:41 PM

Am I the fringe? Really?
Hardly freaking out, Hal. Ready to fight though.

Posted by: carla Author Profile Page at August 16, 2009 7:53 PM

Fight what exactly, Carla?

Are you really that upset with the idea of getting more people insured for health coverage?

(and, as an aside, I haven't notice you freaking out--at least not here)

Posted by: Hal at August 16, 2009 8:34 PM

If I am the fringe, so are you, dude. :)

I am always fighting the Prince of Darkness. But fighting against tax payer funded abortion. Writing letters to the editor, calling my reps, emailing my friends, joining groups on Facebook.

I will fight what I believe to be wrong. Just like you, Hal.

Posted by: carla Author Profile Page at August 16, 2009 8:49 PM

Carla, I completely understand the opposition to taxpayer funded abortion. That doesn't make you fringe. It's the opposition to everything else that makes no sense.

Posted by: Hal at August 16, 2009 9:26 PM

Like everything Obama says and does?

Kinda how it was for you when Bush was in office, maybe?

Posted by: carla Author Profile Page at August 16, 2009 9:34 PM

If you mean getting more people insurance coverage at the expense of the unborn, elderly, and disabled then...I am fine with making no sense.

Posted by: carla Author Profile Page at August 16, 2009 9:36 PM

I don't see any threats to the elderly or disabled from Obama, Carla. I've already acknowledged your legitimate opposition on the abortion issue.

Since you think we're all Obama maniacs, I should point out I'm not too happy with the current plan. I think we need one like UK or Canada.

Posted by: Hal at August 16, 2009 9:42 PM

You see what you see, Hal. So do I.

Where and when did I say Obama maniac?? I only use the word maniac when singing the song from the movie Flashdance.

Yes. Have you heard how it all works in Canada?? Hours, days, weeks and months of waiting for treatment?

My advice to you and I is DON'T GET SICK!!

Posted by: carla Author Profile Page at August 17, 2009 6:37 AM

Hi Carla 6:37am

The father of my aunt's physical therapist was diagnosed with cancer. He lives in Canada.
Anyway, he was told he had to wait 6-8 months for treatment. Thankfully the PT had medical connections, including her husband, who could get her father to the US where treatment was immediately started.

Also there was the wealthy Canadian politician who flew to California for reconstructive breast surgery following her cancer. Why didn't she just go to a Canadian surgeon? Did she not want to wait her turn? Does the average Canadian woman have this option?

This politician had only praise for Canada's health care system. Eh, Madame, then why did you fly to California? We have plastic surgeons in my midwestern city who do this procedure, why would I fly to Canada for it?

I also remain convinced that Natasha Richardson would have at least had a fighting chance had her accident occured at an American ski resort.

Posted by: Mary at August 17, 2009 10:34 AM

And people are longing for THAT kind of health care?!

Posted by: carla Author Profile Page at August 17, 2009 12:19 PM

and I'm sure there would have been no criticism of him if it turned out tragically.

Posted by: Hal at August 17, 2009 4:09 PM

Hal,

Goes with being president, Hal. When the hostage rescue attempt failed in Iran, Jimmy Carter caught the flack, as well as the military. If it had been successful, he would have gotten the glory even though he had only given the order.
Same with Obama. He was praised when this mission was successful, he would have caught the flack if it wasn't.
Like Carter, he did little more than give the order.

Posted by: Mary at August 17, 2009 6:43 PM

Reality check,

Obama was an obstructionist. The commander of the first Navy ship on scence immediately asked for SEALs. pbho waited 3 days to grant the request.

Everytime the SEALs had a clear shot at the pirates armed with automatic weapons, the SEALs had to wait for approval from the pbho before they could take the shot.

Finally the Navy ship's captain got together with the SEAL team leader and read the rules of engagement in the most flexible way possible and the next time the snipers had the pirates in their sights was the last time the pirates were in their sights.

This manchild we have for a president is a clear and present danger to the nation and the citizens he has sworn to protect.

Did you see the photo of the beer summit where Obama is striding out of the White House completey indifferent to his physically disabled 'friend' Henry Louis Gates struggling to make it down the steps.

Thank GOD, that NAZI white supremecist Kop, Sargeant Cowley, was there to assist Gates.

pbho is the man who wants to make health care more compassionate, who cares about the elderly and chronicly ill.

The same man who announced he was suspending his campaign to rush to the side of his gravely ill grandmother, but waited 3 days to do it.

The same grandmother, who only weeks before he had labled a racist, in an attempt to justify his twenty year long relationship with black supremicist and racist pastor Jeremiah Wright.

The same man BO said he would no more disown than his racist grandmother. Then just a few short days later BO disowned Wright and threw him under the campaign bus to keep his racist grandmother company.

Yes this is the kind of man who will be looking out for our best interests.

Yes, we can! Yes, we can! Yes, we can!

Yes, you did! In one hundred days you spent more more money than all the other previous presidents combined. Two Trillion dollars in debt and counting.

That's $2,000,000,000,000.00 in debt just for starters.

Yes, give this imbecile control of our health care and pray like your life depends on it that you do not get sick, because it is your life and the lives of your loves ones that may have to be sacrificed if you have passed your 'productive years'.
