MoveOn.org fraudulently added my name to its anti-Fox petition

All I did yesterday when preparing my post, "Obama uses Fox decoy to throw off scent," was click on the MoveOn.org petition site to view:

MoveOn.org petition, Fox, Obama.jpg

But I most certainly did NOT fill out the petition form. Yet today I received this email:

MoveOn.org petition letter, Fox, Obama.jpg

I complained to MoveOn.org, not that I think it will do any good. Beware, MoveOn.org is dishonest, as if you didn't suspect that already.

Comments:

well, considering your name and e-mail address are public, isn't it entirely possible someone else signed in your name? Based on the form above it wouldn't be all that difficult to do.

That might be but even so, shouldn't the site have an email confirmation code, to prevent fraud like that?

Or even a way to remove your name from the petition?

I wonder how many other conservative names have been fraudulently added to this "petition"?

They must be getting help from ACORN.

I was going to make the suggestion that possibly a pro-abort who didn't like you had added you to the list. Bethany makes a very valid point, though.

Good point on someone adding my name. And another good point on the fact they may be adding other conservative names.

now i feel left out. i didn't get the email.

you may have a web-browser feature where, if you go to a webpage and it has a blank for your email, your web-browser automatically fills it in. if someone knows webpage programming, they could maybe asnwer whether this is possible.

Jill said: "What colicky babies liberals are."

Exactly. Children should take note. You do not want to grow up to be this way. Were you able to get a copy of the email sent to moveon.org?

moveon.org...L*O*S*E*R*S

RE web browser and email addresses:
Yes, if you've told your browser to auto-fill forms, it will put your email address (IMPORTANT) in forms you begin filling out.

Unless you actually begin filling the form, it will not place your address there.

This is most likely someone stuffing the ballot box, as it were.

Which highlights the more honest methods of web petitions: requiring verification of email address prior to addition to the list.

America needs to move forward – one group continuously stands in the way. It’s time for MoveOn to Move Over! The group turned 11 this year, and has repeatedly been the source that drives American politics into the gutter. Stop embarrassing our nation, and move on. http://www.friendsoftheuschamber.com/moveover/
