Alabama abortion mill closes; 2nd "emergency" appeal issued to keep last standing Mississippi mill open

summit locations abortion.pngOperation Rescue is reporting this afternoon that Beacon's Women Center in Montgomery, AL, has closed.

An AL Dept. of Public Health source informed OR that Beacon, one of Summit Medical Center's chain of 7 mills, decided to shutter its doors rather than face a revocation hearing after being placed on probation in 2007 for numerous violations.

OR reports this leaves only 6 abortion mills in AL, which is great news.

Meanwhile, recall I reported May 30 that the Feminist Majority Foundation had issued a strange email requesting donations for the last standing abortion mill in MS, Jackson Women's Health Organization, claiming "Extremists are trying to shut down this vital women's clinic," and that half of any donations received would "go directly to the clinic to help pay for enhanced security measures."...

I wondered if this was a sign JWHO was in financial trouble and in danger of closing, since for whatever reason it needed an infusion of cash, meaning it wasn't making enough money to allow for improvements, or it was mishandling its income.

Well, yesterday FMF issued another email appeal along the same lines, stating, "Your emergency contribution will help keep the only remaining abortion clinic in MS open and safe," and that the mill "needs immediate help."

It stated donations from the previous appeal, which must not have amounted to much, went for "an improvement" to the mill's security system. This appeal is again "to pursue legal strategies" and now to make "additional enhancements" to the security system.

The email begins by relaying an incident I can find no proof of in any news story online. Click to enlarge.....

Something's up. Pray for JWHO's closure, which would save thousands of lives of MS babies and also be a huge blow to the abortion industry.

I still can't imagine the industry letting this mill go down, but we shall see.

Comments:

It's so great to hear that the mill in Alabama is closed!! Thank you for that wonderful information, Jill!
I certainly hope the fate of the mill in Jackson is the same.

I'm so sick of PP and pro-aborts using that word: safe. What will keep women and babies SAFE is keeping them AWAY from PP and abortion mills! They don't even know the meaning of the word safe. Abortion is not 'safe' for anyone.

They're in danger of closing unless ... they improve security?

Sounds to me like pro-lifers are affective at saving lives and are hurting abortion business. Here's my theory: either the clinic wants to silence pro-life counselors by replacing the fence with a solid concrete wall at the entrance, or move the entrance to another side of the building away from the street.

Going, Going, GOING..........

May the next report say, GONE!

Lord, make it so, in your name.....

Just some thoughts and a prayer ......

I find it hard to believe that the pro-abort crowd just allowed law inforcement not to file any police report. I do believe that if they had the opportunity to file a complaint they will milk the situation for what its worth...
An invasion? What kind? We would have heard about it if it really happened. It will be all over the news by now.
"Invasion"...they make it sound as if the "extremist" walked into the clinic with guns and held people against their will.

Hi Jill,

Police log their calls even if a report is not filed. Its likely if there was no disturbance, injury, threats or property damage the police would just tell the person to leave and not waste time filling out a report or filing charges. Certainly there would be a record somewhere, a record of a call, a dispatcher, something.

Exactly how long did it take for police to respond?
What exactly did the "extremist" do? Was anyone injured or property damaged?

I remember when PP claimed a family with a teenage daughter was visited by police after an undercover sting by Lila Rose, and it was a very unpleasant and embarassing situation. I pressed posters on your thread making this claim for an official source, i.e. a police spokesperson, a police report, a family member, family lawyer, whoever. None was forthcoming. One even suggested snidely that my brother, a former police officer, check his "connections" to get a police report on this. Give me a break. I reminded this person its wasn't my brother making any claims so he's not responsible for checking out anything.
What police report there was seemed to close out with no further action after their visit to PP, likely when a simple computer check determined the address was false.
Turns out the "official" source was PP!

So until FMF can give a source for this incident, I wouldn't put much stake in it. These groups aren't above creating or exaggerating incidents.

Yeah! I'm so glad another Alabama clinic is closing!

Posted by: bethany Author Profile Page at June 11, 2010 5:57 PM

Yay! - another clinic closing in the land of the highest rate of teenage pregnancy and the lowest rate of high school graduation. But let's have more babies born to poor, uneducated women and - please - you know they won't be born to women of means who access abortions through their physicians. But horrah! More poor folks having babies - Just more gifts from God and what every poor girl wants. Right?

Good work guys. We must be doing something right. The pro-aborts are on the run.

Posted by: Ceecee at June 11, 2010 6:20 PM

Maevis advocating death to poor kids.

Never mind that the poor in the US now are better off by any reasonable measure than middle class folks 100 years ago.

Because the poor should kill their kids rather than love them.

Sounds like a modest proposal.

Posted by: hippie at June 11, 2010 6:57 PM

Maevis,

Wouldn't you think 37 years of legal abortion would have solved the problems you mention by now?

Also where's PP? Aren't they getting millions from the taxpayers to provide contraception?

According to you folks, teen pregnancy, HS dropouts, poverty, and welfare dependency should by now be nothing more than a bad memory.

Psst Maevis, ya think maybe, just maybe, abortion doesn't solve these problems and never will? Just something to think about.

Posted by: Mary at June 11, 2010 6:57 PM

Maevis,

Hating poor, uneducated folk is about as low and arrogant as it gets.

DO SOMETHING to help the poor that doesn't include killing them.

Posted by: Praxedes at June 11, 2010 7:03 PM

Wow, Maevis, way to show your bigotry!

Posted by: bethany Author Profile Page at June 11, 2010 7:23 PM

Maevis' elitist mentality has always been part of the PA movement from day one.

Again where is PP with its millions?

Posted by: Mary at June 11, 2010 7:43 PM

little by little we take baby steps(pardon the pun) to completely shut down these centers of murder and open centers for LIFE

Posted by: carrie at June 11, 2010 8:26 PM

Remember, that seedy mill wasn't just any fly-by-night. It was a member of the National Abortion Federation.

Steven Levitt of Freakanomics noted that after Roe v. Wade, conceptions rose 30% while births went down 6% despite increasing sex ed and the availability of contraception.

So all we have really gotten is less humanity and more brutality than when we recognized that we needed people to restrain themselves.

I checked on the one in Detroit MI since my hubby is from Michigan and very near Detroit. Sure enough this clinic is apparently in a black neighborhood. Go figure, target the black community! I clicked street view. There are houses right next door to the clinic and folks are sitting on their porches while children up to 24 weeks are torn apart next door! I cannot fathom it. I cannot wait till they are all closed.

Sydney, you're not referring to one of Alberto Hodari's abortion clinics are you? Man, that guy has a shady record and a long list of complaints and lawsuits by former patients and employees. In fact my younger sister attends U of M in Flint Michigan, where one of Hodari's clinics was located and I told her about Hodari's shoddy record and asked her to discourage any classmates thinking about getting an abortion from going to Hodari's clinic. I say that not as just a pro-life individual, but as someone who is genuinely concerned about these patient's safety and the quality of medical care they receive.

What do you want to bet the "aggressive invader" was talking to people or handing our prolife literature?

That there was absolutely no aggression involved?

Posted by: ycw at June 12, 2010 7:21 AM

Rachel C, no not Hodari. I was referring to Summit's clinic in Detroit. Its pretty dumpy too. They advertise prenatal care, pregnancy test and HIV tests on their sun shades but don't advertise abortion at all yet if you check their website they do abortions up to SIX MONTHS at this clinic. AWFUL.

Hodari's clinics are located near where my husband grew up. You gotta wonder why any woman would walk into such a dump and submit to SURGERY!

Posted by: Sydney M. at June 12, 2010 8:59 AM

Hi ycw,

That's the point of my 3:26PM post. Do we have any proof an incident of any kind even occured?

These are folks not above exaggerating, even creating "incidents".

Many years ago in my state we had this woman who was a fanatical atheist/PA who began howling about a woman in another community and state who had been found dead on her apartment floor after an "illegal abortion". The atheist/PA was informed of this by a man who said he was the victim's brother. The community's DA got wind of her rantings, probably from a reporter. He said his office and staff had no knowledge of any such situation and contacted the coroner. The coroner, very irate that his office had not been notified of this "death" also made inquiries. Police and EMS had no knowledge of this incident. No local hospitals knew anything. None of the mortuaries had handled her remains. It was if the woman was a figment of the imagination, which is what she turned out to be. Her "brother" turned out to have a long history of mental illness and concocted the whole story.
An obviously annoyed DA told the atheist/PA that in the future he would advise her to get her facts straight before making public claims and sending people on wild goose chases.

The atheist/PA, who was often an ignorant loud mouth, sniffed that when someone tells you their sister died, you don't question it.
Uh lady, that's precisely the reason you do question it. When someone you've never met in your life approaches you with a story like this, a few simple phone calls are definitely in order.

Hi Sydney M,

On their sunshades?

Posted by: Mary at June 12, 2010 9:04 AM

Yeah, what do you call them? Those shades that hang over windows...maybe they're called something else. I am still sipping my first coffee of the day so my brain hasn't revved up yet :-)

But they have all their services advertised on them EXCEPT abortion. Funny how that is. I mean if you want women to have access to child-killing wouldn't you advertise it so women would know where to go?

Posted by: Sydney M. at June 12, 2010 9:11 AM

HI Sydney M,

I don't doubt what you're seeing I'm just surprised and even amused. Advertising on sunshades, real class. Not exactly something I'd see at my doctor's office or even the veterinarian where I took my cat.

"anti-abortion extremist invaded the waiting room"
------------------------------------------------

hmmm....IF (big IF) this is true, I wonder what the "anti-abortion extremist" did to the waiting room?

Gather up all the reading material? Took out all the chairs forcing the people waiting to sit on the floor? Ate all the free candy?

"INVADED"? They really don't mince on words when describing pro-lifers. Methinks they don't like us very much ... :-)

Posted by: RSD at June 12, 2010 9:43 AM

Hi RSD,

I wonder if the police were "slow to respond" because they had far more pressing matters to concern themselves with first and this was obviously not a situation requiring their immediate attention, like when your neighbors are a little too noisy.

Also they may have only chosen to talk with the "aggressor" and not filed a report because the "aggressor" was posing no threat and doing no damage and left when the police told him to. Did the "aggressor" break a window to get in or just walk in the front door? It would seem there was no criminal activity. Police handle these situations all the time, like when they knock on your apt. door and ask you to keep the noise down, and don't file police reports.

Posted by: Mary at June 12, 2010 10:07 AM

Hi RSD,

I would be very interested in the police account of this situation and more inclined to believe that than I would these drama queens.

Another guess is that someone may have just panicked or called the police in anger at this person's presence, and it was simply a false alarm.

Posted by: Mary at June 12, 2010 10:13 AM

Hi Mary...I'm almost inclined to think that an elderly nun in traditional habit walking into an abortion clinic will ALSO be considered an "invasion".

I don't think anything was broken or damaged in this pro-life "invasion" else there would be spin to high-heaven by the "clinic" when they cry to the news media about this "terrorist attack" on their 'health care facility' endangering their paitents and workers.
